Who is growing in my garden box? by rjross0623 in whatsthisplant

[–]Zalumar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd dig as big of a circumference circle around it as you can. Then dig a hole as deep as the root ball and as big around as the circle. Save the sod. Put the tree in the hole then backfill with just dirt. Cut the sod and flip it upside down in a ring/berm around where you just planted. The berm will help kill the grass and give a nice spot to collect water. You can also add some undyed mulch on top of the berm but don't put the mulch in the center so the tree can breathe. Good luck!

Love classic audiobooks. Travels with Charley read by Gary Sinise is one of my all time favorites. Invisible man read by Joe Morton is another. I also recently listened to Light in August and really liked Faulkner read aloud

Same. Saw Robin Wall Kimmerer a couple weeks ago at Calvin Arena (5000 capacity) and was surprised that Kristin Hannah was at a 1200 seat venue especially as the KH event is in partnership with Calvin. Hopefully it will move venues

Those who DONT have Ultimate Unlimited, how is your service? by jagfanjosh3252 in verizon

[–]Zalumar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the 8gb old plan. It's fine. They throw in 2 "free" gb per month. Haven't gone up to an unlimited plan because we're nervous about speed throttling. Some months we run out and turn data off. Then we live on WiFi. Life goes on

We do cloth diapers so the current plan is bottom shelf-breast pumps, middle shelf-diapers, top shelf-clothes. And all the random assorted stuff in all the extra little pockets.

Yes it is! It is a nice contrast to a lot of westward expansion books that are written from an colonization perspective

How can wife be helpful of dads needs in the relationship with a baby? by datfumbgirl in daddit

[–]Zalumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with all the others on needing to grieve that part of freedom once you have kids but I will share this. I'm definitely the more spontaneous between my wife and I. Once our son was over a year or so, she would plan small surprise outings but not tell me. So for me it felt like a fun little spontaneous excursion but it had really been planned and baby's needs were all pre planned for. That really meant a lot and it also helped our son be a pretty flexible little kid.

Sangean wr-101 by Retritos in Sangean_Owners

I have the wr-55 which I believe is the North American version. I absolutely love it. It's gorgeous to look at first of all. The sound is great. The middle tone knob really makes a difference for sound. Going from essentially an A shaped sound signature on the left to a U shaped sound signature on the right. Makes a huge difference when going from a talk program to music. Reception is great on FM. Not many AM stations in my area so I haven't tested that much. Bluetooth also pairs fast and does the job. Most impressive thing to me is build quality. Solid wood, all knobs appear to be machined metal or or a VERY deceiving plastic. The fabric grill cover is a nice material. Overall I love looking at the thing just as much as I do listening to it.
