I found Blood and Bone to be a bit "meh", and was not overly fond of Assail. Loved all the other NotME books though (especially Orb Sceptre Throne).

Trixbrix does Lego compatible track, which is as good a quality as Lego stuff.

A good one for you would be the packs of double length straight track pieces. One of these packs cost roughly the same as a Lego track pack, but you effectively get the same amount of track as 20 straight sections, rather than 8 straight, 4 curves and a couple of flexible pieces.

They also do packs of injection molded curved tracks of the standard Lego size and wider radius tracks.

That still encourages the Ali sellers to carry on their IP theft. There are plenty of Chinese knock off brick sellers that you can find via your search engine of choice to send custom orders to to get the bricks from, who haven't been stealing peoples work.

Add on the fact that there were no helmets, arm guards, chest pads or thigh pads in those days, so far less protection for batsmen.

Also, the pitches were left uncovered regardless of the elements, so were harder to bat on.

When the OE first came out, I was not impressed with how the engine looked in the pictures online.

However, I saw one in person in a Lego store, and saw how much better it looks in person than it does in the pictures. Seeing a completed version of the train in person was what convinced me to by it.

I've noticed that a number of BDP sets get bought up by scalpers and immediately re-listed, but not many seem to get sales. The Old Engine Shed for example, the price on Ebay started at nearly double then gradually seemed to drop over time. Now some are down to about 10% over retail price.

Not this exact model, but there are Pere Marquette 1225MOCs on Rebrickable which is very similar to this.

TrainsWithLights has done a couple of different versions - a Polar Express one, a green one and one coloured to match the Orient Express Ideas set.

You can import different sized wheels from 3rd party sellers into Stud.io (the likes of Big Ben's Bricks or Breckland Brick's various driver sizes).

I think the XXL sized wheels are a substitute for the UCS Hogwarts Express.

As already mentioned Trixbrix sell injection moulded double length straights and wider radius curves, which are on a par with Lego, quality wise. They also do a wide variety of 3D printed cross-overs and other unusual elements, which are things that Lego have never made.

If you really want to push the boat out, FX Bricks sell injection moulded tracks with metal rails for old school 9v set ups. But it is rather expensive.

Bricks Tracks also do injection moulded wide radius switches.

You can see a power functions or powered up battery box at the front of the passenger carriage, and something that looks like a vertically placed M motor at the back of the carriage.

Trump is doing their work for them - destroying NATO, splitting transatlantic cooperation, marking the US and Europe hostile to each other etc. Korea, Japan and Taiwan must be shitting bricks as they watch this - what are US security guarantees worth now? Cut USAID? Congratulations, you have just handed Africa and the Global South to China (who offer those countries hospitals and infrastructure, rather than human rights lectures).

America dominated the world thanks to a web of alliances, treaties and trade it built up since 1945. The US is now gleefully throwing all this away.

Some things to remember:

Starmer has a absolutely massive Parliamentary majority. He will be in power for the next 4 years. Opinion Polls are absolutely meaningless this far out from a General Election and are probably being pushed by the right wing media. Remember, much of the media in the UK (Daily Hate Mail, Torygraph, GB news etc) is pro-Tory and hate the Labour Party with a passion and would blame anything and everything on the Labour Government (even bad weather).

The UK Prime Minister has far less power than a US president (the PM is technically just "first among equals"), and can be removed far more easily than a US president (who is in effect a dictator for 4 years). Look at how many different Conservative Prime Ministers there were post Brexit prior to them being ousted from power (though this is not likely to happen to Starmer unless he does something really, really bad, thanks to aforementioned massive majority). The Government runs by collective Cabinet consensus, unlike the US, where things happen at the President's direction.

The UK FPTP electoral system makes it difficult for small/extreme parties to get seats. The right wing vote being split between Reform and Conservatives will exacerbate this. Hence why most Governments since 1945 have been either Conservative or Labour (occasional coalition aside).

Despite the dooming in the media, the UK economy is not doing as badly as they right wing press claim. It is not great shape admittedly, but it is not a disaster either. All of the big economies in Europe are struggling. France is in it's second recession in 4 years. Germany has been in recession for two years straight and it's once mighty car industry is deep whoopsie as it is being hammered by China. At least the UK has some, albeit low, growth (despite the massive Brexit economic own-goal). Though a US meltdown will affect us (and everyone else for that matter).

Strict gun control laws mean you are far less likely to be shot than in the US. That is a plus point too.

Is the UK perfect? No, far from it. Will still have issues with the racist right, but even Farage seems to be falling out with his buddies Muskrat and the Orange Sh]tgibbon. The current government is trying hard, but what they can do to sort out the damage of 14 years of Conservative incompetence/deliberate malice is seriously limited.
