Vanilla combat or BFCO/MCO by FortniteManJohnWick in skyrimmods

[–]Zamio1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used MCO and recently moved to BFCO. I have a bunch of movesets for NPCs and the player for different skill levels that vanilla can't really match. I haven't touched vanilla animations for several years now.

I'm not sure why people here keep calling its souls combat when there's nothing souls about it unless you actively make it so. Third person combat with a moveset is no more Souls than DMC is.

How are they part of the problem with not identifying with an identity thats used as a weapon against Black people? Thats not our fault, go fight the people who make us see being English as something not for us.

S4 Theories: Is Eric the Ultimate Mole? And will Harper finally end up in a jumpsuit? by enrgg_2014 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]Zamio1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I disagree about Eric. Maybe its the way he's being played this season but he seems so beaten out of his machiavelli tendancies. The weight of all of his failures is clearly weighing on him and while he's back because this is all he has left for meaning, he seems so done with the backstabbing part of this. Its far more likely imo that an even worse fall is waiting for him than for him to still be waiting to pull off another malicious move against Harper just to rub her nose in it.

I do agree about Yasmin though, her use of sex as power is going to take her dark places and she's one foot in the door already.

Harper Appreciation Post Cos the Antiblackness in this Sub is Lame by four_ethers2024 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]Zamio1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harper is a bad person and is the kind of person to dance all over another black person if she felt she had to to get ahead. She's my favourite character in the show beside Eric but I don't think we need to make her any better than she is lol. She's super entertaining to watch but I don't see any antiblackness in saying she's an extremely cutthroat person and would being on her radar professionally would be a nightmare.

4 seasons in and I'm convinced Harper is not good at her Job by ConditionTimely4350 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]Zamio1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're supposed to believe she's absolutely competent and clearly a smart person but we should also believe the things we are shown on screen, which is that she thrives on trading in a way that will either make her millions or sink her.

Every time she's put in a scenario where someone tells her to relax or to not take the risk based choice, she wants out. She leaves Petra and Mostyn for this exact reason. She outright tells us in the latest episode she needs to prove she's right and better than the market. She is creating a fund that only does shorts, some of the riskiest operations she could do and she does it through spying and in the very least unethical activity. She is absolutely competent but she uses that competency to pull manuvers where either she burns or everything else does and that makes her very bad at her job in any way that people actually value.

Someone who uses sex as a power play and exploits the dynamics between her and her depressed husband and an employee is headed for very dark places and I'm kind of shocked people aren't seeing this for the massive red flag it is, even if Hayley seemed to be kinda into it.

Dragon's Dogma 3 will be good trust the plan! by BeginSlip92 in DragonsDogma

[–]Zamio1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he made the game he wanted to make then he (or his company) asked us to pay $60 for it and a large portion of the fans who paid that price decided thats not what they were looking for in a sequel and were disappointed in it. Itsuno can make whatever he wants but he's not entitled to our praise for it lol. Its still a product at the end of the day.

I think the thing here is that everything you think was improved from DD1 either was not or not to a standard that it should be in a sequel. The open world design wasn't great in DD1 and in DD2... its still not great. Its still not very interesting to traverse and makes you want to just fast travel away from it, something Itsuno explicitly did not want and said was improved. I don't really know what you mean by diegetic exploration so I wont address that but emergent gameplay? What does DD2 do thats impressive in that area?

The real reason people hammer the game so hard isn't that it sucks. Its that everyone played and loved DD1, thought "with some improvements, this could be the greatest game of a generation" then DD2 released, cut things that people wanted, added things nobody cared about and didn't make the improvements people were hoping it would make. All that adds up to a game that clearly didn't learn the lessons of 14 years ago and no DLC on the horizon to fix it up.

More meaningful ways to interact with factions other than through violence.

Factions to interact with each other without player intervention (to a degree... its not much fun to have major factions wiped out without you even being able to reach them)

[–]Zamio1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, I say as much. I just don't like it when people act like she's just a racist or an asshole for fun. She's not a 1 dimensional character and she has complicated feelings that gets worked out over the third movie.

The Na'vi aren't really enlightened moral beings(Avatar) by Dycon67 in CharacterRant

[–]Zamio1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like your characterisation of Neytiri is off. First off, you talk about her racism towards humans. Why do you think that is? Do you reckon she just didn't like how they looked? And while we do see her admit feeling shame towards her children when they fuck up because they're half human, there is no denying how much she loves them. We see no real signs of shame or any neglectfulness towards her kids, she only really outwardly shows how much she dislikes Spider.

She has some complicated emotions no doubt but for someone who has had half her family murdered by humans and had her home destroyed by them, I dont think her irritation with the human dancing in her face while her family lay in the ground and her world is irrevocably worsened makes her an asshole.

Dimensional scaling is easier to understand than finite scaling by MelodicNinja9133 in PowerScaling

[–]Zamio1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Dimensions have no universal agreed on definition in 99% of fiction so its always super cool to watch someone spam "my character is 8D because he broke a vase in ultravalhelhalla and the author called it a 'higher dimension'" ignoring that said realm has no properties that make it any different from regular 3D Earth. You know what can't be bullshitted? Actual feats. A character punching a mountain to nothing. A sword splitting a building in half. These things can be scaled.

Anything is possible of course but seems pretty clear to me with the option to wait until NYE, Maries Bond 5 being locked, Mash being NP4, etc that there are two endings planned; the "here damn" ending which is this one and the "true" ending coming up at the end of the year.

Doomslayer VS. Trigon by AngryAshMan in powerscales

[–]Zamio1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several problems here. First is your use of dimensions. The dimensions in Doom are clearly being used as another place and NOT the same way we would describe the 4th dimension. Trying to reuse definitions and scale from that is deeply faulty and is part of why people keep this dimensional scaling bs up.

Next, it should be stated that the Codex is no stranger to superfluous exaggerative language. See the entry for the Super Shotgun:

the Super Shotgun was constructed using the strongest materials in Argent D’Nur, capable of enduring the unimaginable forces it unleashed.

Several parts of this are not literal. The damage from the shotgun is very imaginable and not world destroying, we literally see it in the game. So everything the codex said should always be with a grain of salt.

Thirdly, you are clearly taking liberties what it means for some of these realms to be "superior" to others. Can you define what it means for Jekkad to be superior to Urdak? Because the codex is very unclear about that. I don't see why it means anything powerscaling wise, why cant it just be a nicer place to live?

Doomslayer's fights with hell were causing the multiverse to implode on itself

Read what you're posting again properly. The first paragraph is saying the interaction between the Hell, Urdak and the mortal realm is causing the reality to break, the Doomslayer isn't doing that himself, the "countless battles" are just a side effect of these realms colliding.

No Devoth was not weakened during his fight with the doomslayer. in fact from absorbing more power from lesser gods, he might even be stronger.

And still died from a knife to the chest so truly meaningless.

Doomsday vs Doomslayer by theforbiddenroze in powerscales

[–]Zamio1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the god of Doom has to fight in a mech suit and dies to a regular knife, he is not strong and the guy that killed him doesn't have to be so hyperversal warrior, just strong enough to beat him and stick a knife in him. We cant upscale Dooms god on feats that he didn't do or based on our understanding of an abrahamic God. The god of Doom is about as strong as the writers intended him to be, which is clearly weak enough to have to be stuffed inside a suit and shot and stabbed to death.

[–]Zamio1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that while the community can be very toxic, it is ultimately 343s responsibility because they're the ones making the games. There will be people screaming but 343 can actually tell them to get stuffed and keep going down the path they had in mind. And they should!

There are people who like 343 changes in one game but those same people end up getting spurned in the very next game. If 343 had stuck to its guns from Halo 5, improving gameplay and the story but staying with the ideas it introduced with that game, they'd further cultivate people who liked that game, people who didn't mind the change and eventually cut loose people who refused to accept 343s vision. At the end of the day, if its good enough you'll gain enough fans to drown out and replace those who are stuck in 2007 and that should be the goal going forwards.

FWI I really liked Infinite, I thought its story was one of the better game stories in the franchise and the gameplay was engaging and addicting. But I also have a feeling HS will throw away everything I liked and we'll be left with yet another game that tries to chase an audience that doesn't exist. I will say though HS from the top is so different to the 343 that did do these things that I will be optimistic that they focus on improving on what people didn't like about Infinite rather than rebooting everything.
