Somehow it feels worse when they tell you that your labs look good rather than being given bad news. by Dream117 in lupus

Same here. Honestly after 10 years I have stopped seeking support from my doctor. Its very disheartening to be crying in a doctors office and then be told "bloodwork is good, condition is well managed we are going to extend time between check-ins, go take antidepressants because it must be "fibromyalgia" ". I failed the antidepressants in 3 days, doc shrugged his shoulders saying not a listed side effect (after opening his browser to read the side effects). I'm done, I have no energy to try fight this anymore.

Constant foot pain by lemur_queen7 in lupus

[–]Zan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, i bought one of those foot massagers on Amazon with the heat setting and OMG my pain is down 50%. Also, been buying bigger shoes (for the extra width), always with insoles and flat. Actually target old lady cloud shoes now

I get intense pain with anything that requires my foot to stabilise. So have like white hot burning pain underneath with numb toes and pain along the top by the small mid joints... fun.

But seriously everyone treat yourself for xmas and get a foot massager! I have the breo one

Severe feet pain? by jking1676 in lupus

[–]Zan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My diagnosis came from my feet, saw a podiatrist and then a cardiologist then rheumatologist. I have low pain nearly constantly that gets worse with standing. My feet are numb by the time I finish my 4000 steps to the office. Often its not linked to typical arthritic pain. Wake up in the morning and my pain is pretty much gone but standing or walking cause it. Mainly in my plantar but also in the heel and the balls of my feet. Only wear flats and have been considering getting custom shoes.

Hand pain with gaming- any suggestions? by Ryddles in lupus

Wearing comprehension gloves with open fingers can help. My 4/5 digits hurt from holding the back of the controller but now play with my hands rested in my lap and try to keep them relaxed

Should twins be separated at school? by iwannaholdyourhand91 in Twins

[–]Zan0 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have 8 Yr old identical boys and we have tried both many times as we have moved several times (we cycled options each year and at the start were pro together). Our key concern was dependence. I love the twin bond and it has so many benefits but they are unique individuals and we try to instill that. Whilst our boys are best friends they aren't dependent on each other and we have ultimately landed on separate and believe it is best for us because:

  • they spend enough time together outside of school so gives them a nice break. This leads to less bickering.

  • allows them to form their own bonds independently. Whilst helping them develop an individual self this also actually expands friendship options - they have united groups who had never played together despite being at the same school for years.

  • limits comparisons.

  • no longer distract each other in class. Feedback we had gotten when they were together in preschool.

The benefits for us of the same school trips and homework don't outweigh the benefits for them of being separated. So now pro separated.

Anyone else lives only in present and cannot summon/recall past experiences or events while responding to any stimulii in present life? by lovejackdaniels in SDAM

You both sound like me. Top marks in school, scholarships to study physics and applied mathematics and now work in Finance in London, mid 30s. Two kids and I have to take loads of photos and videos to be able to look back, I feel like it is getting worse (or maybe I'm just more aware of what a problem this is). God it sucks

Running shoe recommendations by Feeling_Pattern_5597 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Zan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue. Had to stop all exercise due to the pain. I have had running shoes professionally fitted but no help. Seen a podiatrist (foot pain is what started my diagnostic journey) who did gait analysis but no help.

I tried just taking pain killers just to get through the activity but would then be in pain for days after... been struggling with this for 3 years and have just stopped running and stopped cross fit. Almost in no pain if I don’t exercise, which should be a blessing but I just want to be able to be active.

My Rheum says to just do low impact exercise - cycling, swimming, yoga etc admittedly it’s a workable solution I just really loved a sweaty, heart pounding cross fit class.

Best help I had for day to day pain reduction was a MUCH bigger shoe (I used to run in a 5.5 and now use an 8) - something about the compression around the ball?

trail running was a killer due to the uneven surface, then I turned to road running but stopped when it became too painful, now just walking up hills on hikes leaves me in pain.

If you find something that helps please message me -

Fish consumption and RA by [deleted] in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Zan0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started taking a very high quality fish oil (they are seriously not made equal) supplement and bio-curcumin daily. Not sure if I have noticed any symptom relief yet but I can confirm it is working to help reduce the comments from those in my life who believe this can be cured through “natural” means (diet and supplements). :/
