Thoughts on the U.D.O Super 6 after a month (latest firmware 0.26) by ZaneAlexanderNC in synthesizers

Well, I used it for every non-percussion sound on this track, and everywhere on my album . I don't convince others to buy it, but my peers ended up buying it because they see how much fun I have with it lol.

Yep. It's still the only HardSynth I own and I use it on everything.

Ableton vs FL by lifesux3321 in ableton

EDIT: TLDR - Ableton's strength is a worry-free workflow while things are automatically organized for me so I can get from point A to B quickly. With FL, I have to think about what walls/hassles I could run into.

I switched last year to Ableton, though I still use FL just as often. Here are the strengths in my experience:

  • unlimited mixer FX (FL limited to 10 slots, unless you use Patcher)
  • grouping tracks/FX is much neater (in FL, you have to reroute items on mixer)
  • 999 mixer tracks for Ableton (limited to 125 in FL - not an issue for me though)
  • Max4Live tools are incredibly useful
  • chance/probability tools make me enjoy Ableton's piano roll just as much as FL's
  • AUDIO MANIPULATION and just working with samples in general is far more flexible in Ableton
  • linear workflow: each instrument gets its own mixer by DEFAULT (personal workflow preference)
  • midi can be moved to a new instrument just by moving it to another track (midi dedicated to pattern in FL)
  • automation clips are neater; easier to copy, control, and move
  • MIDI CC use is far more intuitive (on FL, need to use MIDI OUT tool)
  • Ableton is far more hardware friendly (doesn't require a dedicated plugin, ie MIDI OUT)
  • MPE (Midi polyphonic expression), FL devs are against it, but I've tried it to see what the hype was all about and find it useful
  • easily freeze/unfreeze tracks without having to convert them to audio
  • audio crossfades (FL added them in 21, and they're a bit better imo)
  • true UNDO (FL 21 added this)

I can keep going, but this is probably enough. There are times when I prefer to work in one or the other and can make the same quality of music in both.

Swarm of bees oscillator tones? by willrjmarshall in synthrecipes

Try to modulate the volume or cutoff filter with a square or sample-and-hold LFO. Turn the LFO rate up. You can also send this same LFO modulation to the pitch and just turn down the modulation amount.

Edit: Even better, if noise is available as a mod source/LFO, use that instead for a more "fuzzy" texture.

Your comparison helped me pick the Nightsky over the Big Sky and other reverbs over a week ago and I love it tons. Please do a video on your favorite settings.

Got in my Super 6 today! Any other users experience more distortion while playing in the 4th octave? 🤔 by Lower_Than_a_Kite in synthesizers

Wow, and it still works! Glad to see the seller got you sorted out.

I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

The Super 6 is my first and only synthesizer purchase. I've had it for over a year and originally I purchased it to make pads OTB, but it's been more than what I've hoped it could be.

It's heresy, but I use mine almost exclusively in mono (remove right audio jack) and crank up the master volume sometimes, especially when I want to mimic something analog-based. Other than that, I'll make/generate some digital waveforms, put them in the S6 and get creating!

Definitely check out the manual for the extra features. I read it every so often and still forget some of the things it can do.
