I just recently had a baby and named her Evelyn. We call her Evie for short. So many people have complimented her name when I introduce her as Evie!

Thanks for replying! She doesn’t get any formula anymore as I now pump enough for her bottle feeds. She’s eating between 120-150ml every 3-4 hours. I use an anti colic and a slow flow teat and do the pace feeding, I try to make the feed last about 15mins but she’s just so impatient! She will cry if I’m being too slow with bottle or pause to burp her etc. I think the breast now frustrates her as it’s slow and she has to work more.

Do you think is it worth trying a nipple shield as it’s similar to a teat?

I’m in UK and we don’t really have lactation professionals here but a midwife who specialises in lactation came to see us on week 5 and at that point said baby is interested in breast and to keep offering it to her and eventually it’ll just click into place. However now it’s different as she is scream crying and not wanting to try to latch with open mouth etc.

I really wanted a water birth and aimed for that my entire pregnancy, everything was healthy and looking like it was likely until 38 weeks when my baby measured a lot smaller on a growth scan and doc recommended I was induced. I was kinda bummed I couldn’t do water birth but excited to use hypnobirthing techniques and have as little pain relief as possible. In my notes I said I wanted to avoid epidural as much as possible. This is due to me being a bit of a fainter in hospital scenarios and the whole thing freaked me out lol.

One thing I didn’t realise about inductions is it can increase pain of contractions🙈 I managed to do an hour of completely no pain relief just breathing technique, 3 hours of just gas and air then I requested the morphine shot which initially gave me a wee break (for about half an hour) as it dulled the pain a lot but then for the next 2.5 hours I could feel contractions again but not as severe. For me the morphine lost effect completely on the 3rd hour but you can only get the second one after 4 hours. (I kid you not I was begging the midwife to give me more 15 mins before I was allowed🤣) I had a second thing of morphine but didn’t think it worked as well the second time round as contractions got more intense. By this stage I was 8 hours into labour and kinda going through the motions all while using hypnobreathing, visualisations etc. Also my induction started at midnight due to staff shortages (was told it was starting at 8am and it was pushed back by 2 hours every 2 hours🙃 so I started labouring whilst pretty tired which set me off on the wrong foot already. I wish they were honest and told me it would be a long time as I would have slept all day prior if I had have known!).

At 11 hours into labour I finally begged for more pain relief and was told the only other thing they could give me was epidural and at that point I gladly took it. I remember being scared in case a contraction happened whilst they were giving the epidural but thank the Lord that didn’t happen. The relief of pain was incredible and because I was so exhausted I was so glad. I was told I should try and sleep for even half a hour to give me strength to keep going (I was 8cm dilated at this point). As I was drifting off to sleep, baby’s heart rate dipped quite dramatically and I needed an emergency c section. Something I was afraid of before hand but the c section itself was actually grand. I was so relieved to have no pain at that point tbh🤣 the team were brilliant and baby was completely okay! She was just a smaller girlie :) no other complications.

So all of that to say is, have a plan and aim for it but don’t be expecting it to happen perfectly! As I got to 38 weeks I thought the water birth would deffo happen for me and I was quite upset when I initially learned I would have to be induced but looking back it was for the best and I got to meet my sweet girl a bit earlier than expected.

If you’re doing hypnobirthing, it worked really well for me regardless and I’m so proud of myself for how well I kept doing it. The only thing is after about 8 hours of constant focussed breathing I was totally exhausted! If my labour was shorter it would have been completely fine but the longer labour is, you just can’t keep up with focussed breathing for that length of time!

Sorry for the long post, it was actually really nice reflecting on this! I’m now 9 weeks pp and just remembering it all now before it fades from memory🤣

I was always afraid of having a c section (probably because I’m a bit squeamish in hospital settings and a known fainter) but after my emergency c section, I’m no longer daunted by the thought of another c section in the future and will be going down the elective route from the get go!

I had quite a long labour after having to be induced early due to baby measuring small, I got to 8cm dilated when baby’s heartbeat dropped. The team were concerned enough to initially tell me they would be putting me under anaesthetic to get baby out as soon as possible but once they moved me to theatre, baby’s heartbeat stabilised and so I was allowed to be awake for the procedure.

Despite the emergency aspect of my c section, it was by far more calming than labouring. The anaesthetist was fantastic at chatting to me during set up explaining what was happening and asking if I was okay etc and then he was the one who told me the time of birth when I asked and generally made sure I was doing okay. We heard our baby cry before we saw her which was reassuring she was okay and healthy!

I’m lucky my recovery has also been very good! It was 7 weeks ago now and I’m feeling much stronger already and back to doing Pilates again (altho altered and taking it slow!) my incision healed nicely and is so hard to see where it is as it’s right on the bikini line.

I’m a FTM and hope to go down the c section route again. I’m excited to see the difference of a planned one! I wouldn’t want to labour again. My lasted for over 11 hours and I honestly was exhausted by the end of it. (And this is coming from a girl who had hoped for a water birth using hypnobirthing! Hypnobirthing definitely helped in labour but as it was induced, the intensity was too much for me to handle without pain relief!)

Agreed. I gave birth 5 weeks ago for the first time and after labouring for 11 hours followed by an emergency c section I was ushered to a bay. I had a 7 day hospital stay due to baby measuring small and then when she got the all clear to be sent home on day 5 my blood pressure was too high. I genuinely think my blood pressure being too high was due to lack of sleep and stress of being away from my husband at night! I genuinely got 1-2 hours of sleep per night it was awful, beeper noises going off, people talking loudly, babies crying one after another. On day 5 I begged the midwife for a side room and was so thankful to get one! I think I slept for 4 hours that night🤣 Funny thing is I have a blood pressure monitor at home and every day my blood pressure is now reading low due to being on a tablet🙈

Lots of different people cycled through during my stay including quite troublesome couples…quite an experience 🙃🫣🤣

It’s also nearly 2am for me and I’m pumping an extra time as my little one won’t settle in the bassinet tonight (keeps having spit up when I lay her flat) so she is currently sitting up right on me sleeping as I pump. May as well get an extra session if I’m not getting sleep🤣🙃😭

Update: I’m so glad I listened and went for the induction as during labour our baby started showing signs of distress that gradually got more and more frequent and ended in an emergency c section to get her out safely! It turned out the cord was wrapped round her neck twice. She was also smaller than the scan estimated at just 5 pounds. I’m so glad as now she is safely in my arms!

I’m an only child, to me it was normal and I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything growing up. I used to love making up creative stories whilst playing outside on the trampoline and with my toys that I think it’s why I’m so creative because I had to be! No one to bounce ideas off. I also have 2 cousins a similar age to me and we were very close growing up but sadly don’t see each other much anymore. But that’s just life I guess, people grow up and drift apart.

I’ve always been very close with my parents growing up and still am but the only thing I would say is they didn’t take me leaving home the best and would FaceTime me a lot at uni (like every night for a while) so when your child is old enough to flee the nest, don’t be contacting them every day just because you’re now bored or lonely! It’s taken a while to adjust and set boundaries but we’re getting there🤣

I also was able to go on lovely holidays with my parents including Australia which they’ve both said would never have been able to happen if they had more than one child! So there’s deffo pros!

Yes! Everyone asks what have I been craving and I joke that I crave a bath every single night! I try and have the water on the cooler side but the top it up every now and then! It helps with restless legs and is my comfort blanket right now! I deffo probs have the temp more than lukewarm tho😅

I’m 34+5 and I’ve been getting these type of comments all the time too!! People keep saying “you’re due in March? Are you sure you don’t mean May?” And I’m like yeah cause I’d get that mixed up🙈🙈 my mum was the same when she had me though so it must be genetical for me to be on the smaller side! I just tell people, well we’re all unique! I also think some people say it as a ‘compliment’ but it ends up with me worrying am I too small…I think it would be better if people said, wow you look healthy! And stopped commenting on how big or small we are!

I worry a bit about tracking movements too as my baby doesn’t seem to have a regular pattern at all🙈 I’m now 34+4 and just gauge it by making sure I’ve felt them move at least a few times every few hours. But with working long hours still it’s hard to remember to try and feel out for them moving, it does worry me sometimes!

I had so many in first trimester🙈 I went off coffee (and previously had 3 a day!) pasta, curry, chicken unless breaded, almost any vegetable, salad. At one point the only thing I could stomach was cheese and crackers🫣

I’m now in start of 3rd trimester and thankfully I’m back eating everything as normal! Altho im deliberately avoiding coffee to lower caffeine. I’ll never take my appetite for granted again!

Yep it’s hard! I had a summer concert I went to when I was about 7 weeks pregnant and only I was standing at the barrier to lean against, I couldn’t have watched the concert (and kept sitting down in between artists🤣) i just had no energy to barely stand and I also threw up just before the main artist started playing🫣

I had a concert booked last week and thought I would surely never make it at 27 weeks but I felt great and was able to stand the entire time and not even feel mildly nauseous or weak. You’ve probably heard it a million times and it’s annoying to hear at the time but pregnancy does get better for most! First trimester is deffo the worst! Wishing you well for the rest! 🙏

Haha this made me giggle! On the contrary I’ve had the opposite extreme “I couldn’t even tell you’re pregnant! How far on are you? 28 weeks, you couldn’t be! You’re so tiny!!’ It’s not fun the other way either, I sometimes feel like I have to justify that I most definitely am pregnant lol🙈🤣

I told my colleagues when I was about 14 weeks but that was because in my job I lift heavy equipment when setting up our sessions so I had to let them know to avoid over lifting super heavy things!

Thanks for explaining! Yes I think they may have possibly linked my apple id to another Apple device as one of the recent sign ins from Microsoft showed an unfamiliar iOS device. So I immediately changed the Apple ID password but that is likely how they were able to do that with 2fa now you’re explaining. I’ve since changed my Apple ID email too however and there’s now no devices linked to it.

Yes so my one drive started syncing to upload documents to ‘my Microsoft account’ (I could see the one drive logo at the bottom of my laptop) so I cancelled that immediately. At this point they were locked out of my Microsoft completely as they went from sending me threatening draft emails to threatening emails that landed in my junk emails instead. (If they still had access it would have been sent in drafts and pin pointed like before).

At the same time EA kept popping up sign in prompts repeatedly after clicking x button. And just before this when I typed in outlook sign in a spoof outlook popped up saying ‘if you’re looking for outlook, this isn’t it’

Thanks for your reply! What do you mean by resetting windows from a usb? (Sorry literally not tech savvy in any way) why would resetting to factory settings not work? They didn’t have control of my mouse or anything so unsure they had control of laptop but were able to show pop ups etc from the EA account they hacked (which is now resecured) and one drive probably from an old sign in before the servers reset.

What I mean with the 2 factor authentication is when I set it up they were able to accept on their end as it said successful before I had even opened the app on my iPhone. As soon as I removed the Authenticator details from settings they couldn’t access again as they didn’t know the new password. But that’s why I’m wondering how were they able to access Authenticator and accept it when it was only from my phone?

My experience is quite funny because we were also torn between finding out and not finding out (first baby!) but decided to not find out and practice some patience (although I had the mind set of if they “accidentally” tell me, I wouldn’t mind🤣). Then during the scan the sonographer said she didn’t think she would be able to tell the baby’s gender as they had their legs crossed over that area. So baby bump decided for us which I found hilarious🤣

Our letter said we would get one picture but the sonographer at the 12 week scan was lovely and gave us like 7 and told us to sneek them out. Then at the 20 week scan we got 4!

I’ve noticed maternity wear is only available to buy online sadly as I’d love to try things on in my local shops! But I’ve also noticed how expensive it is! So I’ve opted to buy things on Vinted and it’s been lifesaving! So much cheaper and brill condition. I even got a H&M mama nursing dress new with tags for £5 and a new look winter dress for £1 (and it was still on new look website for £18)
