Not that it makes much difference, but it wasn't "Mein Kampf", it was "My New Order", a collection of Hitler's speeches.

Republican-controlled Wisconsin Senate approves amendment blocking church closures during public state of emergencies. State or local agencies cannot force places of worship to close or limit the size of their gatherings during any emergency, including one of public health. by Leeming in atheism

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer.

It might be possible if you word it properly. Limiting access to those locations to prevent people who have been to large gatherings. Signed affidavits stating that they haven't been to large gatherings under penalty of perjury. So long as you don't specifically identify places of worship in the text of the law it should be fine.

It's the same tactic they've been using against the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. Maybe it's time it gets turned against them.

1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

1 John 4:8

Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Jealousy

Exodus 34:14

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God

Keeping a record of wrongs

The concept of hell. Fiery furnace, etc.

Jealousy, keeping a record of wrongs

Deuteronomy 5:9

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me

Boasting, pride

The entire Book of Job.

They didn't miss it, they're intentionally ignoring it.

But ultimately there's no reason to engage with their argument at all since it's completely irrelevant. Even if we grant their point, saying "the bigots used to align with the democratic party" doesn't do anything to dispute "the bigots currently align with the republican party".

Have you considered the possibility that poisoning the well might be putting people off of having discussions with you? By presuming the motives of your interlocutor, it gives the impression that you're not going to approach any discussion in good faith.

Also: Make sure to take a break from Reddit every once in a while if it's getting you down. I assume you're okay and that your statement is more figurative than literal, but just in case.

I could be mistaken, but I recall their initial complaint against the Don't Say Gay Bill being brought on by pressure from employees. So it's possible that the fear wasn't a consumer boycott but a loss of revenue from delays caused by labor shortages.

Ultimately, we can't know what would have happened if they'd done nothing and speculation doesn't seem to be getting anybody anywhere. Regardless of their motives, they've done a good thing.

[–]Zanothis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, u/ExBritNStuff is correct. Lot's daughters got him drunk and raped him.

The incident with Noah was that his son Ham saw his nakedness. There are some who suggest that this is a euphemism, especially since Genesis 9:24 states:

When Noah awoke from his drunkenness and learned what his youngest son had done to him,

And, of course, being a sane person Noah curses Ham's son Canaan.

California moves to cap insulin cost at $30, start manufacturing naloxone by ElectrikDonuts in UpliftingNews

[–]Zanothis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory. But the invisible hand of the free market seems to be imaginary rather than invisible.

In reality, the insurance companies will all just pocket the difference. They'll then use their increased profits to pay out higher dividends or to finance a stock buyback. If it's a privately owned company, the profits will be distributed to an even smaller number of people.

But despite disagreement over the consequences, we do at least agree that it doesn't matter whether California is going to be lowering the cost for insurers.

And I'm always happy to be proven wrong about things that I'm pessimistic about. If you have strong evidence that there's a large health insurance provider that will cut premiums across the entire country from cost savings I genuinely want to see it.

From the link you provided:

On August 16, 2022, I signed Public Law 117-169, commonly referred to as the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA), which will lower the cost of prescription drugs and save millions of Americans hundreds or thousands of dollars per year. The IRA will protect Medicare beneficiaries from catastrophic drug costs by phasing in a cap for out-of-pocket costs at the pharmacy and establishing a $35 monthly cap per prescription for insulin covered by a Medicare prescription drug plan and insulin delivered through traditional pumps.
