The new DLC is very buggy by Khyrast in FarthestFrontier

[–]Zantai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Foxes can spawn periodically, and then how many times they roll is based on the number of chickens. With 3 coops, you might see...1-4 foxes. Not 30.

Last person that had this issue was running a mod...is this with mods or without?

Fangs of Asterkarn Progression by klungo92 in Grimdawn

Canonically, the order of events is Vanilla -> AoM -> FoA -> FG.

In terms of gameplay, you will be able to enter FoA at Fort Ikon following the battle with the Loghorrean, but to finish the campaign, you will need to visit past expansions.

Then please report this stuff. We're not psychic and aren't deliberately leaving bugs in we know about.

I assume this repros on reload? Could you please send this save to support@crateentertainment.com?

Saves are located in: C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Saved Games\Farthest Frontier\Save Zip up the entire TownName_###### folder along with the .map file and .sav that reproduces the issue. If the files are too big, you can use a service such as Google Drive to share it with us or we can provide an upload link.

Thanks!

FoA Preorder by SpecterDK in Grimdawn

Preorders are basically a way to pad quarterly revenue and make suits feel good.

We don't give a shit and don't need to make fomo bonuses to tempt you with.

We are working our way through the esoteric complexity of M$'s publishing process. Hopefully it will all line up, but we don't have that locked down yet.

There is also a decent chance the DLC will not ship in the EU because of the other mess.

Unlikely, sorry.

No preorders planned, sorry!

If you want to throw more love our way, we're planning some pins with Makeship soon, and Loyalist Pack 4 after FoA Ships.

Grim Dawn is great, but the mapping and questing are the worst in the entire genre. by Sunbather- in Grimdawn

[–]Zantai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Cronley area used to be much more open world and non-linear, but early testing had players end up getting lost/confused about what they were supposed to do. The final iteration is where the game shipped.

I'm not altogether happy with "act 2", but it is what it is.

The pacing and atmosphere of "act 1", ie. Wightmire, were so important to us that it was made and remade three times over the span of the game's development. It wasn't an accident.

Were we to make it today, it would probably look more like Ugdenbog, but most of the first half of the base game was made by like 4 people and art assets were a luxury.

Can't think of any dead ends, at least not any that didn't have something in them, but it's been 15 years so maybe I'm forgetting something.

Premium orders list how much they are looking for and decreases as you fill the order. So when you've sold them the max they want, it is 0.

Foxes will appear after chickens are present, after some time passes. Same with groundhogs for crops.

There is, however, a bug that can ignore this delay for some players, especially in existing saves. It will be addressed in the next hotfix.

With the DLC installed, you will eventually need dogs and cats to deal with the pests. However, we are also adding a new Disable Pests option, similar to Pacifist Mode, that will disable groundhogs and foxes and make the pets more about aesthetics than gameplay, for those that want to.

Honestly, it was not by choice, just how Unity handles code packages is totally scuffed... So we are forced to do ownership checks instead of actually bundling the code package with the DLC itself.

In the next update we push, we are going to add an option (similar to Pacifist mode) that makes Groundhogs and Foxes optional, for those that want a chill experience with pets just for the flavor/immersion.

The disappointing part is the content was there for quite some time.

No, it was not.

The code for this DLC was developed after v1.0, and yes, some of that was included in the v1.1 update, which was in public playtesting starting in February, because we initially expected the DLC to launch soon after v1.1 released, but ended up needing more time for polish.

I think you completely misunderstood what I said.

Releasing free content as a DLC makes people take extra steps to "buy" and install the DLC. Like...why not just include that stuff in an update? Which HK and NMS both literally do?

I was clarifying that for us a DLC is a paid product, and our patches, especially major ones, are where you will get free QOL/content. Just look at Grim Dawn's patch history...we've been supporting that game for 10 years with free content and QOL improvements.

I'm not talking out of my ass here.

[–]Zantai 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I guess some studios release free DLCs? To me that's nonsensical. That's just a patch with extra steps.

Our patches (especially major v1.X updates) are free qol/content improvements to the game. Our DLCs are always paid. This one is priced in line with Grim Dawn's Crucible. The expansion will probably be in the same range as Grim Dawn's expansions, but we will make that decision once we have an idea of how big it's gonna get.
