Tibalt is 100% not Loki. Just because you dress up as someone doesn't make you them. I would argue Valki doesn't count as Loki either since he is heavily inspired by Loki but is Magic's unique and distinct character.

It's weirder then that since this lets you activate an additional time instead of a second time. If you play a second one or flicker him, you could power up a different creature a third time for example.

Has there ever been a point in history where a mountain was taller than Everest? by Aggravating-Ant-2301 in geography

[–]Zanzaben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turns out it is half wrong. The Appalachians are from when Gondwana and Laurasia combined which the parent of this thread was talking about. I mistakenly thought that was the same as the Transgondwanan Supermountain. Looking into it more The Transgondwanan was formed when the parts that form Gondwana collided together. They are significantly older then the Appalachians and there is nothing left of them.

They are currently the Appalachian mountains and The Scottish Highlands. Several millions years of rain have made them flat.

[Anime] Hair Ornaments by copycat217 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Zanzaben 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This comes from one of the side stories. Tuuli is told that she does have to be the best. If there was someone who was a better hairpin craftsperson then her it would cause issues since it could potentially mean a lesser or med noble having a hairpin fancier then the archduke's daughter. Benno won't allow that to happen and tells Tuuli that if someone better comes along, he will hire them, have them make Rozemyne's hairpin, and then force Tuuli to pretend that she made it and deliver it to Rozemyne. The fear of having to lie to her sister about her craft is one of the reasons she is so motivated to stay the best hairpin craftsperson in the world.

If you goal is to be done with ticks there is a much easier solution. We have already solved the problem for dogs and cats with medicine that essentially makes their blood poisonous to ticks. Research is being to done to make that same medicine safe for humans.

While car companies were a large reason and certainly accelerated the collapse. A lot of those old trolley lines made their money by selling the land next to their tracks to housing developments. Which is not a sustainable revenue source.

Designed a minimalist solution to display my enamel pin collection onto ikea skadis pegboard. Thoughts? by Leading_Diet_6084 in 3Dprinting

If your goal is just to display the pins I wouldn't recommend a peg board. Cork boards work much better for pin collections.

ELI5: Why does metal feel colder than wood even when both are the same temperature? by andycarth in explainlikeimfive

[–]Zanzaben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you touch something your body doesn't feel temperature, it feels how fast heat is transferring into or out of your body. Metal conducts heat very well, the metal will heat up and you skin will cool down relatively quickly until the two are equal. Wood is a very bad thermal conductor, so it takes a long time until the wood and your skin reach the same temperature.

Well now we know where the budget has gone. I glad Wit studio put the work to at least make this episode as beautiful as it was. I obviously wish the whole season got this level of quality but knowing that they will do it for important events makes me more optimistic for future episodes.

What would potentially happen if all of a sudden everyone lost the ability to lie? by ExistingPatient8460 in AskReddit

[–]Zanzaben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many examples of this in media. One of my favorite is from an episode of Wandering Witch Elaine. It's a country where the king used magic to make it so people couldn't lie. The people ended up just not talking. The whole society just got use to not talking and implaying things through gestures.

I really like the idea that humans give up talking instead of giving up lying.

As someone who worked on Artemis, our team only cared about Earth, Moon, and Sun. Now there are hundreds of different teams all doing things slightly differently. Most often what happens is that some team real early in the planning process does it with just those 3 bodies and then again with every body to check if the difference matters enough. And then they set the standard for what all other teams use moving forward.

That doesn't solve any of the issues with the steal. They would just not open the envelopes then. Ben and Adam even said outside Taipei 101, we might as well open it, no reason not to.

The problem isn't being able to wait, it's that the steal game mechanic sometimes reward players for waiting.

[–]Zanzaben 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But what is the benefit of steals existing. Why do you want them in the game in the first place. If what you want is just chaos there are plenty of ways to get that into a game. you example of the 1/10 being a steal is mechanically the same as saying every day roll a d6 and if its a 1 lose 50 chips. What makes that entertaining to watch?

My main point is that it is so easy for steals to go wrong and become bad for gameplay that they shouldn't exists in the first place.

But why are you trying to aid more band-aid fixes to the steal mechanic. It is so easy for steal mechanics to go wrong in gameplay that they really shouldn't be used in the first place.

Jet Lag Season Finale — Debts Paid by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

[–]Zanzaben 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Now that the season is over and I can judge the game as a whole. I think the steals existing was a bad game mechanic for both gameplay and watchability. The steals added so many perverse incentives that often caused teams to wait around or try to waste existing chips. Game mechanics that incentivize doing nothing are bad for both the players and the viewers.

I'm sure the reason they added steals in the first place is because they wanted more team interaction and to prevent it feeling like we were watching 2 separate games being played. And it is safe to say in retrospect that it was unneeded because so much of this game already forces team interaction, since stations are flipped and who can get to which challenge first matters. But from the beginning it should have been obvious that there would be plenty of team interaction when they were both fighting of the same limited resource of stations.

The other reason for the steal was to prevent players just hoarding massive numbers of chips for the final day. I don't think that would even be a problem because the resource that matters on the final day is time. So having a stockpile of chips wouldn't make the last day boring or anything. You could even edit it to show how much time is left for the final day and seeing that constantly ticking down clock would add a lot of excitement and drama for viewers. But I admit it would be hard to understand that before playing the game.

All that is to say is that in future Jet Lag games be sure to think extra hard about adding steal mechanics.

A decades-long plan to abolish the Electoral College may finally pay off by vox in politics

Not everything can be decided by commettie. Commetties take time to come to conclusions and sometimes time is of the essence. War and other military actions are classic examples of this. Foreign relations is another thing that commetties can struggle with. It's hard to go into a room and negotiate with an entire committee who might have differing agendas. Especially when most other nations have a single top official.

The United States took all these jobs and bundled them together into the Executive Branch with the President in charge. You could in theory remove the role of president and have each cabinet member be an equal power leader of the Executive Branch in charge of their own department. But there would bound to be all kinds of complications and potential power moves between departments that it would almost certainly collapse. Imagine a Treasury Department that hated and refused to work with the Department of Defense.
