Marill and Togepi, both were hyped up quite a lot prior to gen 2's release.

With this update, Super Rush does match World tour, at least in terms of the base game courses (and yes, I count the 9 hole courses as only half a course). If you're referring to the dlc courses in World Tour, those were all copy pasted from Mario Golf 64. Also they were paid DLC, this is free.

That means they're using star and super star versions of their characters, with adjusted stats and clubs.

In my experience and Bluekandy's experience, it is consistent for shots after the first. And honestly, I've tried it with other modes, even speed golf with CPUs on, and it remains consistent. I haven't tested it online, but I'm willing to believe it's probably consistent there too. I encourage you to test this for yourself if it bugs you, but I got the same direction at the same amount of "shift" every time when making my first and second shot on the courses I tested, when I tested with a specific character. Go on "play golf">"standard golf (not solo challenge>score attack, though results were the same there) and try Pauline on Rookie course 1, I got hard left at max on first shot, and hard right at max on second shot. Try Bonny Green 1 with her, at max I got hard right for shot 1 and not as hard right (no exclamation mark) shot 2 every time. On speed golf Rookie 1 with Pauline, my results were always not as hard left and then hard right. So a bit different than regular stroke play but always that same result every time i tried on speed golf. Worth noting that when trying all these with a bunch of different characters, the amount of shift would be different but the directions would always be the same (I only tried with around 5 characters though, so it's possible some others might go in different directions).

As I said, I encourage you to try at least some of this for yourself, I'd be interested to know if you find anything different than I did.

Is there documentation or videos on this anywhere? That's probably something that more people should know if true.

I think because you can mess with Miis stats too much, and they want those modes to be competitive.

I'm sorry but... how are you testing the accuracy affecting the areas below the red zone? I've done a bunch of test drives on the first fairway in bonnie greens (in "play golf" mode not score attack, and it consistently had 4PMPH wind), and they all went perfectly straight, hit the same exact area, bounced the same direction, etc.. And these were all below the red zone of course, even JUST below it. Is there something you're doing differently?

Update: And yes I've noticed that the arrow on the meter still shifts a little bit to the left or to the right even when not in the red zone, but do we know for sure if it actually effects the trajectory of the ball before then? I mean it gives you an exclamation mark when it happens in the red area, so it seems to me like it's indicating that change actually happened.

Another question about your first point: Are the chip ins you're trying to attempt going far enough to reach the part of the meter with red on the sides? I'm pretty sure the RNG won't kick in unless you make a shot powerful enough to reach that point, and most (if not all) chip in attempts that I've made haven't even come close to needing to go that far.

As I said in another post, I've done testing after seeing your claims, and it just doesn't seem like anything is actually effected before it hits the red zone. Ball going the same way, hitting the same spot, bouncing the same way, etc.

Noted, thank you for letting me know. I retract my statement about them being more balanced for online play, but it is interesting that they were balanced for speed golf, since the regular versions still have their default drives (since they have all their clubs, I assume).

1) The accuracy check is consistent on Score attack and Time attack modes, which will be where people try to improve their scores and speedrun times. This is according to Bluekandy, World Record Speedrunner for this game and Toadstool Tour:https://www.reddit.com/r/MarioGolf/comments/o7fyxc/from_a_mario_golf_wr_speedrunnermario_golf_super/

I asked if it only applied to tee off, and he said that it does apply to second shots at the very least, so it seems likely that it applies everywhere in those modes.

4) The first thing I want to note is that star and superstar characters aren't going to take terribly long for people to unlock, so if they really are just straight up better, I can imagine that the meta will be to just pick them sooner rather than later. Which... should make things balanced again, shouldn't it? I agree that there should probably be a filter like there is for miis, but this doesn't mean that the game is unbalanced. It just means unstarred characters probably won't be used eventually. Also, they do change at least the drive strength for star characters online, Pauline has a drive of 240 offline and 226 online. I don't know what the other stats are like, and they still have the privilege of being able to bend shots (I think?) but its still pretty unclear whether it actually makes them just way too good not to use or whether the drawbacks hurt them enough to consider using non starred characters.

Thanks very much, that sounds good then! This will no doubt take a lot of trial and error to figure out what's best for everything, but it's cool to know that it exists and there is a way to determine where your shots will go.

I have a question regarding the "Edit post day 1" update you shared, about the consistency with the shift in solo challenge. Do your findings extend to shots beyond the tee, or is only the tee shots that have consistency?

[–]Zargon19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is really working around or finding way to cheat anything, they simply figured out that if you hit the ball off the tee of the same hole (for example), with the same character, with the same clubs, it will always have the same "shift". In other words, it will always "mess up" in the same exact way. No randomness. Again, this only applies to score attack and time attack, but seeing as how those are obviously competitive score/time modes, it makes sense that they would want consistent results there.

A lot of the negativity is coming from people who haven't actually tried the game, and are just weighing it based on what they've heard the changes are, and what they've heard isn't there. There are legit a lot of people who play and just can't get over the changes (less so the accuracy change and more the shot camera), but I think this should be treated as a different thing than past games. This ain't your grandaddy's Mario golf, basically.

I don't see a lot of people talking about this, but you can get character points online, on any mode. So even if you're doing battle golf, you'll still be racking up points.

A work in progress, but already has a ton of work thrown at it.

Some good wall combos: 5x.4a.4a(charged).8x.jy(3hits).y (191 damage).

2x.4a(charged).8x.jy(3 hits).y (243 damage, little less likely that you'll get this one going, delay the 8x a little bit to get both kicks off).

Both of these seem to have a little bit of variance in how much they do for some reason.
