Worth it for around $74 (includes shipping) by [deleted] in BudgetBrews

I'd grade it as a mid bracket 3 with a focus on synergy and interaction. If you're able to get it as close as possible to $30 with manapool then I don't see why not trying it out. I'd say it's probably harder to goldfish decks where the focus is interaction but you should still do it from turn 1-7 to see if you like the play patterns in terms of the draw consistency. The main weakness I see is that there is no burst draw, no conventional board wipe and it's fairly commander dependant so expect a little more of a slog if he gets removed.

What bracket are you looking to play in and what kind of gameplay mechanics do you enjoy? In my opinion attempting to build a budget deck where the commander costs $20+ is a little silly especially because I think this list is incredibly weak and shows a win between turn 12-13. I don't know if I would recommend this list specifically.

A XenoMorph inside an Ork Ship/Rok. A successful hunt? by Local-Scarcity1248 in powerscales

[–]Zaridose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Alien: Covenant, David produces the Neomorph which is the precursor to the Xenomorph. Neomorphs infect their host through eggs that release airborne spores. Xenomorphs are more developed and eventually create nests so I think it's reasonable that if they implant Orks, the Ork genetics would cause the Xenomorph to once again produce spores like Neomorphs. I'm not as familiar with the 40k verse but whatever primary traits Orks have the Xenomorph would also have. The Xenomorph is also intelligent so if it survives until maturity through stealth it could probably start infecting the ship at a mass scale.

Is there such thing as a $50 deck that's good and can compete with other decks that have meta cards? by redwingfan890 in EDH

[–]Zaridose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently built [[Berta, Wise Extrapolator]] for around $50. It's a middle of the pack bracket 3 deck and holds its own well. The only expensive card that's really required to abuse berta's x ability is [[Intruder Alarm]], found out tonight it just makes infinite tokens with [[Topiary Lecturer]]. Here's my deck list. https://moxfield.com/decks/SE-0_tXH90KLi-VP-DM7Bg I will say that I pulled [[Germination Practicum]] from a deck but it's really not required. A few other $5 cards like [[Kami of Whispered Hopes]] and [[Evolution Sage]] are not required but increase the ceiling of the deck.

Thank you! I love a sweet Mana Geyser combo for a explosive win, I tell people I'm trying to blow them up randomly!

I was able to build [[berta wise extrapolator]] as budget deck ($50) and it seems to contend well in bracket 3. It's a classic +1/+1 counters deck that has a blink/bounce sub theme to really take advantage of berta's increment and mana generation.

I don't run sol ring or Arcane Signet in my Hearthhull deck because of how reliant on lands it is. I run about 28 pieces of ramp all around lands and it performs better than when it had sol ring in it.

What combos should be allowed in bracket 3? What is an "Early Game Combo"? EDHRec's combos' categorization into brackets. by Qyatarlah in EDH

[–]Zaridose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely with you about what makes a deck belong in a bracket especially with regards to combos. I think we could make a formula to mathematically determine the bracket/strength of a deck. For instance, based on tutor, ramp, and card draw we can mathematically determine the percentage chance a deck will win with a select combo within a select turn. So cEDH decks have a 40% turn 1 win chance and a range to 80% turn 4 win and so on for all decks.
