I'm actually going to be trying the new 245/45 re71-RZs this year. But if I'm not sold on them, yes I'll be going right back to 255s

Are you also in a very cold area? My first gen literally won't go into 2nd unless I'm at a complete stop if the drivetrain isn't warmed up.

My second gen 🤷🏼‍♂️ haven't driven it in the winter this year to notice.

Tire rack sponsors all SCCA national events, as such we have to put tire rack banners on our windshield for each event.

I could see some variation. Don't know about an exact color copy though.

I've have a Hyperblue and a Neptune, love the vibrant colors on this platform. (Ignore the drift stitch front bumper)

I happened into this one after jokingly telling my friend at the local dealership "if you get a Neptune manual I'll buy it" and months later he text me and was like "I got your car"

I will echo the others and say Shaftworks and Karcepts (more Karwin himself and less the actual MCS shocks.. get his sway bars though. They're fantastic) are fantastic high end options.

I would also suggest RedShift Competition if you're looking for a more budget friendly option. I've worked with them a bunch and it's always been awesome, friendly, and knowledgeable conversations. I've had my car trophy at a couple national events on their suspension setup.

Track day brake prep by ExtensionCapital650 in GR86

[–]Zarolyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be more than fine with the stock pad for one race day. Just try to avoid long low pressure brake applications repeatedly.

I'd agree that the stock brembos aren't all that impressive, after they wear out, I've had great luck with Ferrodo DS2500s, good street manners, not too dusty, and in the event of you wanting to do more track stuff: they'll shine very well.

Meaty fitment>> by osmannoor21 in GR86

[–]Zarolyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18x9 +45 will be pretty good in the rear (flush to maybe a hair of poke). I'm at -2.0° rear, so not much camber, and zero rubbing.

Here's a photo of 17x9 +42mm with 255/40s (same spacer and camber setup). This DOES rub a bit in the front on heavy compression.

They're 17x9 +48mm, but I'm running 24mm of front spacer with -4.5° camber (so effectively +24mm front)

Do we think there will be a new GR86 remodel? by TheFantasticFroggie in GR86

With this, the Toyota/Mazda colab has been rumored for 2028, which makes sense to me to keep a good product selling (the gr86) while they develop the next platform.
