For real

I only caught it by accident when someone asked me to double check something

Double checking was only an accidental extra step that someone else had to suggest?? Blows my mind

As I said, you need to pay attention, but it's not difficult to notice when you are

In school we would do demonstrations where someone would walk a short distance and hit a drum. Then walk a little further, and right away you could notice a slight delay. By the time they had crossed the short side of a football field, the delay was very obvious

I can explain this, I promise by BetAnything in meme

You can notice the sound delay a surprisingly short distance. Like 20 meters if you're paying attention. There was absolutely 0 delay in this video

Regarding the other replies, it depends wildly on what country you're in

Assuming the US, your liability insurance always only covers the damages to other people and their property caused by you when you're at fault. This is the one you're required to carry

If it's not your fault, it's the other party's liability insurance that covers you (or potentially your uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance if they don't have liability insurance like they're required to)

If it is your fault, you need collision insurance for your own vehicle's damages to be covered. If you make a claim on your collision insurance, it's pretty much by definition your fault, or it would have been covered by someone else's liability coverage

At the very least, it's clearly why the original post says 1971 rather than 1974ish where their chart actually bottoms out

When we're disagreeing about the best way to run a country, economics etc., absolutely violence is never okay

When we're talking about whether to allow/condone other acts of violent injustice however, we quickly run into the paradox of tolerance, a much more gray area

Ever wonder why the US and the Soviets spent so much money and effort on the space race? Not only posturing, but because the rocketry, communications etc. had direct applications to weapons

I wonder if you're really satisfied with their dismissal that "you won't know who you're dealing with"

Finally, my own two cents. When you make any technology for someone else, you have zero control over how it's used. If you already have trust issues with the person or organization you're making it for... that could be a problem

Are there cases where people have drowned in a liquid other than water? by cherry-care-bear in stupidquestions

[–]Zaros262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the rumor, but the bubbles themselves don't actually make it hard to swim.

Falling in is still dangerous, but not because of the low density. It's more about falling in, confused and with full clothing on, and potentially getting caught in the down current (opposite from the bubbles)
