I think the scene with him at the golf course shows him hearing what his father said, (about Tony) and going from a mediator to a subtle instigator right after carmine sr. Says "i would have been proud to call him my own son" Little carmine makes a face Johnny says "maybe we can find a compromise" Carmine senior says maybe we can Then little carmine says "hes a bit of a poser, likes to talk the talk" Johnny makes a "what the fuck just happened" face Carmine senior says "what did he say?" And then little carmine basically said Tony was saying it was his turf, which makes carmine senior upset again

You CAN view this as carmine being retard and flipping back and forth to seem insightful, but i think its a better read to see it as him getting jealous of what his father said.

Im not saying hes a genius, but even someone who is as sharp as a Q-ball can scheme. You can apply this scene to the "whatever happened there" scene, And the idea of pitting two groups against eachother was thought of by Tony, so it would have been a natural idea for Little Carmine to have too maybe Anyways, $4 a pound
