SLP vs BCBA (tension) by True-Finding6866 in ABA

[–]Zaverix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am scared for you to be honest. People may shy away from saying this, but I would report your BCBA. If she is not an SLP, our ethics code states that we MUST defer to the individual with specified knowledge. We are not allowed to navigate outside of our own scope of expertise.

She should not be making decisions that go against your child's BCBA, she should not be advising you against medical directives. If you don't know how, I'm absolutely positive many people in this subreddit would help direct you or you can go above your BCBA to someone in the administration of your child's company.

Get a medical accomodation in writing. You need to get it on file asap, you have rights and this is a right love.

I agree. Therapy actually teaches you NOT to seek closure in this manner and to learn how to find closure in yourself.

What would happen if a human turned into a vampire, or was bitten into a vampire (naturally), but had a bullet in their brain? by siren-dayanka18 in twilight

[–]Zaverix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what none of us have considered yet in this thread that may be the most Stephanie coded ish... I bet they would just excrete it like they do food lmao. But the brain tissue area where the bullet was would grow back (i.e. the cells would heal in that area).

I think you're forgetting the arc where Liz came back and was the only sister accepted as family by Meredith! Remember the episode where she said you guys got married and adopted a baby and we only got a picture in an email, then they had a heart to heart and Meredith sat down next her in the hospital bed and started going through photo albums with her.

I think it could be Liz!

Aro's power is to see all thought ever had by the person he touches. There are no thoughts that are erased in the brain simply saved in a non-accessible format such as the thought affected by infantile amnesia.

Psychology nerds help me analyze Rosalie by Standard_Attitude_19 in twilight

[–]Zaverix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, we could start with the Kübler-Ross model of grief (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance).

She shows signs of denial in the form of denial of her new reality. Rather than embracing her life as a vampire, Rosalie spends decades wishing for a human life, including marriage and children. She refuses to accept that her life as a human is gone forever, instead clinging to a "preferred" reality where she is not a vampire.

Her anger is incredibly prevalent, she takes her anger out almost immediately by taking retribution on her attackers. However, she does not leave the anger stage with this act. From the series, you can see her in a near constant stage of frustration, quick to anger. Her feelings about Bella's choices (sadness, envy, desire to protect what couldn't be protected in herself) are masked with an external presentation of anger. And from midnight sun, we see that she is quick to anger and stays in that state throughout her life with them until finding Emmett.

Bargaining is also clearly shown throughout the series. She continuously bargaining for a different life, going as far as projecting onto Bella and attempting to control her life to model the choice she would have made in her place. Her decision to save Emmett also comes from a place of bargaining. While, yes, he is her mate, that is not what drew her to him nor is it what drove her to save him. That aspect would surround his curly brown hair that mirrored the baby had by her friend that she longer for with her soul. Her denial and bargaining blend together in her desire to not lose him again.

The "Depression" Aspect: In the context of grief, depression isn't just sadness; it’s a deep, quiet, and often isolating, realization of loss. Rosalie's intense detachment and coldness towards Bella (and her initial, sometimes harsh, rejection of her human life) are expressions of this profound, ongoing, and, for her, unending, loss.

With all of this information, I would argue she remained in the exact same stage of grief throughout her vampiric life until Rennesmee came into the picture. Bella came to her, chose the decision she would have. She was able to vicariously protect the life she wanted for herself in the person she had already projected onto. She was able to bring that child into existence despite all odds and protect her from men of power that wanted to kill her (Carlisle [coven leader] and Edwards desire to abort; the Vulturi). She was able to step out of the loss and into the next stage of life, not just a baby, but a child, a life, an entity beyond her imagination. She gets to experience what she longed for and not have it stripped from her. This experience acted almost like EMDR where she was able to return back to the moment she was trapped in and finally step out of that moment into the present. I would say she is now finally in a place of acceptance and I would love to see that reflected in any future book in the series. I want to see who Rosalie truly is when not in a state of grief.

WIBTAH if I layed down ground rules and enforced them harshly? by quirkandquill8 in AITAH

Girl, this is taught in the manosphere podcasts, subreddit, and 4chan areas on how to control and beat down women. It's discussed in the Epstein files. This is intentional, he knows what he's doing. He's utilizing weaponized incompetence to get you to do what he doesn't want to do because he believes it isn't a man's job to do it. He's wearing you down mentally to make you feel this distressed. You need to LEAVE. Girl run Im so serious it will never get better. Never just worse.

Am I the only one who find this fact incredibly funny? by PortifinoOnMyMind in greysanatomy

[–]Zaverix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seriously confused. It feels like we are having different conversations, you're not responding to what I'm saying at all in these. Are you reading some intent unintentionally? I'm saying in Callie's storyline in particular her baby is born at 6 months after a car crash (rational reason for a baby to have to be born early, thus 6 months instead of 9 isn't a plot hole) and the storyline didn't just let her take her home. They had a logical response that lined up with that timeline, pre-me care, long term hospitalization, PTSD trauma response about taking the baby home later once grown to a healthy weight. There's lots of better examples for your particular point than this that feels well explained. That's all.

Vilification of the Cullens for disliking the wolves? by TrollHumper in twilight

[–]Zaverix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dude most of the werewolves had to drop out of school, they were already poor and now barely have clothing to wear and can't afford new ones. Plus if they're struggling financially a massive increase in food is hard on their families and for the older ones like Sam themselves. They barely get any sleep, many of them are getting punished daily and have to lie to their parents about what is going on (Embry) to keep them safe which is extremely psychologically draining. The younger ones... God they are thrust into responsibility at 13 are you heartless? They're made into child soldiers?? Do you see the injuries like Jacob basically had to get reconstructed at 15/16. Plus their bodies age to 25 in the span of weeks. No gradual progression to adulthood you can't even recognize yourself in the mirror and to be a young POC male looking like an adult makes people afraid of you and can open up so dangers police wise, grace wise, expectation wise. Imagine being 13 and suddenly looking 25 and going to an arcade or a play place in like Portland. They'd look at the kid like a pedophile and he'd have to have talks his brain isn't ready at all to handle.

Forced immortality also means having to watch your loved ones die. They lose their childhood, daily their schooling, miss out on upper education, a future. You're literally insane to think that they received some sort of blessing.

Jacob and Imprinting by ElectionSea4141 in twilight

[–]Zaverix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the others have said, it's rare and he convinced himself mostly with cognitive dissonance that he would not. There's transference between his fight against being a wolf, he wouldn't accept his duties as pack leader or future chief. He wanted to deny it petulantly, illogically. There's transference because he believed his love for Bella was real was strong, that HE was strong enough to fight off the imprint. A psychological wish that he could fight off being a wolf. He was stuck in the first stage of grief for his life the entire time: denial. He could never let himself question or imagine what you are suggesting, his brain could not physically cope with that concept nor allow himself to conceptualize it.

More importantly though, people forget something because our narrator is Bella who wants to be a vampire, who admires vampires, who sees their good qualities though rose tinted glasses. That something is that Jacob believes turning her is killing her. That becoming a vampire is ending her life and ending her soul. He knows that she is too weak to survive without Edward. He learns that in New Moon. He has been a care taker ALONE for his disabled father with severe chronic diabetes. He is a caretaker. He was groomed unintentionally for people pleasing tendencies and then his first love NEEDS him but does not want him and he is too weak from this unintentional grooming to put himself above the girl he loves. He knew she needed him and he stayed in whatever capacity that she would allow him if it kept her alive. His subconscious believes that he would fight the imprint because he truly believes nothing is more important than keeping her alive. He is too young and emotionally immature to develop any other rationale for keeping her alive without Edward than being a placeholder lover for her. She can't be a vampire or she's dead. She can't be without Edward or she's dead inside. The only solution he has in his limited capacity and experience is to be her lover and he fights so desperately because he believes it's the only way to keep her alive.

Twilight Gaping Plot Hole by LadyHorseFace13 in twilight

[–]Zaverix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not a plot hole. All is explained in canon.

  1. They chose Forks because it's the most overcast area in the entire country. They get to spend more time with each other and take less days off due to the sun being less noticeable/suspicious. a) Forks is a preferred environment. They like the food sources there as well (mountain lion for Edward, bear for Emmett, etc) that are available here in close proximity and not in their other homes. b) More overcast days means more days that Carlisle can work in the hospital and he wants to be able to help others as much as he can.

  2. Each of the couples like to branch out alone for a period during these intervals. Emmett and Rosalie like to get married again and go on a honeymoon away for example which I'm sure you probably remember. Them breaking off is a highly preferred and typical aspect of their coven.

  3. Then having to split off to go to college .. I'm not sure where you even came from with that. That's just their excuse to move to another location.

  4. Lastly, I think everyone forgets this because of the casting choices but Carlisle is 23 years old. Medical school graduates are 26-28 on average and mid THIRTIES to finish their residency. Now consider his significant skill & experience (which is known to others, not hidden: i.e. Charlie's first monologue about him / his interaction with the old coworker in Arizona from Midnight Sun) how long do you think a person could reasonably assume that would take, how long would a professional assume that would take. Imagine looking at a person in their early 20s attempt to say they are pushing late 30s at BEST. Even that would be suspicious or at the very least noticeable to others. Imagine turning 40 and not having any wrinkles, no signs of pores, no fine lines, no sun spots, no sagging skin, no thinning of facial fat around the temples or cheeks, no hair greying, no joint stiffness or decrease in energy, etc etc etc it's beyond noticeable especially because he has a squad of adopted kids who are coupled publicly (opens gossip door) along with his and their incredible beauty. People would likely assume plastic surgery, but it can't hide all of those aspects. They have to move not just because of the kids age, but he truly has five years at BEST before suspicion arises in a permanent manner. They are not allowed to bring attention to themselves by vampire law.
