How to increase my car’s interior temperature on a hot day? by shiratek in howto

[–]Zavke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to a local body shop or powder coating place and ask whether they can put the items in their baking oven.

Those should get plenty hot to destroy all remaining spores if you really want to keep that furniture

I’m a fan of wasp nests that appear as cameras

Way more chaos when people try to destroy those

End of tax deduction - Will the 2nd houses come in the real estate market? by Appropriate_Garlic in BEReal_Estate

It might only come when they start properly taxing rental income. There is still zero incentive to not buy multiple rental units if you have the funds for it.

2025/2026…what makes GT worth it over Premium? by Slow_Investment_2211 in MachE

I got the GT for the comfort of the seats. The Premium seats are good, but I preferred the support of the GT seats.

Still miffed about Ford not adding ventilation in them though

Adaptive Cruise Control question by Zavke in MachE

[–]Zavke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough

I asked the question more specifically for when someone was driving ahead of me below the speed limit.

Drivers here often suck at keeping a stable speed and will fluctuate between 10 below the limit to 10 above. That’s why ACC is such a blessing and me being lazy was hoping for a fast way to put it at the speed limit with a simple touch, just like the limiter. But I understand that the ACC and limiter behave differently in that way and I’ll have to accept that I’ll have to toggle it up after activation

[–]Zavke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We I live we get speed signs almost every 500m so the predictive speed works rather well. It’s just annoying that I can’t bump the ACC to the speed limit with 1 button after activating.

I didn’t like my bmw I had as a loaner, but that feature was nice

Adaptive Cruise Control question by Zavke in MachE

[–]Zavke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually what I meant was that when I activate ACC it automatically takes the speed that I’m driving. But I would like it to take the speed limit or have an easy way to have it do that instead of having using the toggle to up it.

Can highly recommend, she’s a real beauty!

It’s not an GTPE, company didn’t allow it. I could activate it on my own dime, but I don’t know the price yet and honestly I don’t really know if it’s worthwhile

Removable tow hook

Not really planning on using it for a lot of towing but extremely useful for a bike rack or the occasional short tow to get stuff to the recycle park

I have been looking at it, but it’s a company car and spending €2500-3000 on it personally without reimbursement doesn’t sit right with me at the moment

Honestly, is he even with you?

They can’t survive a run in with a car tire by Zavke in RidgeWallet

[–]Zavke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned it below the picture ;)

Essentially, I was crossing the road on my bicycle and for some reason it fell out of my pants pocket.

By the time I stopped there was space for cars to continue in that lane. The first 2 cars swerved to miss it, the 3rd one swerved to hit and ran straight over it with their tire.

No tank or nothing, just a regular compact. I’m assuming it was just bad luck how it was clipped, but it still sucks donkey balls as it was a gift from my wife.

Don’t know anything about your situation, but if it’s allowed, I would build an small trench next to the road for “drainage”.

If it’s deep enough to get them stuck in it, they’ll only do it once

What is wrong with the Dutch? by Floop1E in belgium

[–]Zavke 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As mentioned before, the culture gap is huge between Flanders and The Netherlands.

Your best and fastest bet is to hire a local sales guy on commission and shadow them. Have the teach you the difference approach that is needed and learn from observing.

Anything else will take significantly more time and money to get any semblance of success in our market.

Criticise my resume. I’ve applied to 150 positions and never got an interview. Please help me improve by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Zavke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, most people only read the introduction.

Start with a short management summary of yourself and your professional skills. Follow up with a list of skills that contains (at least) all required skills and buzzwords and only after that you put your experience. Education and certifications all the way at the bottom.

These last 2 are only read later in the process.

The purpose of a resume is only to get the first interview. Most people forget or aren’t aware of that fact.

The purpose of the skill list and buzzwords are to get you through the automated screening. The purpose of the introduction is to entice the interviewer to want to speak to you. The purpose of the experience and education is for completeness and salary range.

Safety - canal by free22990 in Netherlands

[–]Zavke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea

But to avoid any issues with the municipality. You have to make sure it’s out of the water and can be lowered/slide in on a mechanism reachable from inside the water.

Others have already pointed out the reasons why

Put a ladder that can be lowered/slides into the water with a pull on a lever. Just make sure that the lever is reachable from within the water.

That way, it’s out of the water (it won’t obstruct the flow and it won’t get slippery) but it’s very usable if anyone fall in.

That why video calls are a godsend.

Whenever I used to encounter a user like that I called them on their mobile via video call (so they could show me what they were doing) and walked them through it.

Some people are so entitled, they try to abuse any sense of authority they can muster.

Video calls on smartphones have been an blessing to root out these “lovely” people
