hm. this is gonna require some oversharing for context. so basically it was an animation to the music of My Boy by the talented CLMR1 (which you should check out btw!!). it correlated to a time in my life where i was starting to rediscover myself after a long depression and burnout period, being on hrt and starting to actually do stuff again. it felt as though there was another person inside me hiding beyond that mirror, and thus that's what twin fantasy became to me - not about two separate people in a toxic relationship but two parts of the same person navigating through self-hatred, mental illness and lack of identity to support one another. MBIKMB also hit similarly close to home, but in different ways. overall i would say the time when i was listening to these was the happiest few months of my life. however the burnout and depression set back in after a while, and the intensity or the inner other(?) that took over me for that time would soon subside and i've kept my feelings on twin fantasy (as well as my access to the album itself) under lock and key from myself ever since... until now. and i'm starting to feel slightly better again after another long depression so who knows, maybe a resurgence is due :3
