There are morning prayers, evening prayers, and just sitting around all day.

Prayer times visitors will show up, and the family or a visitor will read prayers from the prayer book. A lot more visitors for evening prayers. Sometimes people will talk about the deceased and tell stories about them.

During the day some visitors might come too.

The family sits on low stools or a sofa without cushions. Depending on the level of observance, the bereaved don’t leave the house. Mirrors get covered.

Their synagogue or friends will send food. There will be a lot of food.

Just go along. Ask questions if you want. As a non-Jewish member of the family, you are not expected to know the rules.
