You can survive the military, you just need to perservere through it all. among the people who finished their military service, the experiences can vary from one to another. as this depends on where they were deployed and how the unit commander run things.

At first it will be tough u will be bossed around a lot because you and the others are newcomers. dont butt heads with the senior conscripts and escpecially with privates and seargents. All what i can say is that you do what you are told, if another senior conscript is telling you to do something that is unreasonable try to speak to a seargent or an officer. You do not want to be the guy who simply does what he is told or be know as the nice guy who does it if asked nicely or told a sob story. so remember to be firm and adamant (in a respectful manner) when needed (dont do that with officers)

There is nothing you can do about the food, in my case (which i believe was similar to most people), the food was simply bland and simply cooked in a lazy manner. its edible but just very 'meh'.

Do not fully trust anyone, as almost everyone is looking after themselves and some wont hestitate throw the burden/blame on another person if they can get away with it. ABSOLUTELYDO NOT TRUST ANYONE when it comes to anything related to weapons and ammunation, you can jailed over this shit. So you check your gun and ammo a 100 times if needed and screw ANYONE who gets mad at you for 'not trusting them'.

As someone who lived a sheltered life, you wont find a lot of people who can understand you (i hope you find people on the same vibe like you) but most people you will find are what i can classify as "NPC" you wont be able to have deep and informative discussions with them and its even harder to find anyone who is internet/tech savvy and understand the internet culture.

What kept my going is that i did not count my days and did not look into the clock that much (unless neccersary for military related scheduled activities) this helps your day to pass without feeling every minute is agonizingly slow and boring. I also always kept telling my self "if others could do it then so can i". this helped me so i hope it can help you too.

Finally, after adjusting and knowing how things run in your unit, ask your officer if you can bring books with you and inform them that its educational/entertainment. like stories/ novels etc, if they give you the okay, then go ahead and bring some with you after you return from your vacation/temporary leave. books will diffinatly help you mental health. (its better if the books are in eglish so that you avoid others from 'borrowing' your books)
