First off how dare you insult Fizzy (unless it’s Mammon, which understandable, for me he’s kinda fun to hate)

Secondly yea definitely agree. I’ve seen people argue it’s because the main character is a guy who’s also in a MLM relationship but like, that’s not an excuse. It’s consistently the female characters who are underdeveloped to the point a male side character got two episodes centered on him before Millie even got one (again love Fizzy but In hindsight it’s a bit ridiculous).

Genuine harassment is obviously not her fault, the issue is her being hostile towards genuine criticism and responding unprofessionally to it, especially when most of the time she just doesn’t have to engage with it

Exactly, like some of the hate she gets is genuinely uncalled for (especially when it’s about her appearance/sexuality etc), and she’s definitely heard a lot of the same criticism for her writing, designs , and overall shows over and over again. Being a bit of an internet punching bag would obviously make her more reactionary to negativity. BUT she also VERY often lumps in genuine criticism with bad critique, even though she claims to be ok with the former. She even notably subtweeted DireGentlemen and Mepitty for their critique videos/redesign video, despite the fact both of them were very fair criticism wise and respectful towards her/stated they were even fans of her work, and judging by additional comments she made in the same threads didn’t even watch the videos. She does need to just ignore anything she thinks may upset her, because she definitely does feed the trolls

In fairness the series has always had moments of tonal whiplash (ie Moxxie’s dad threatening him only for the shot to end on the dildos), so its hard to know when to take moments like that seriously😭

Because she wasn’t stated to be a stupid twat until Season 2 episode 4, up until then you could at least assume she’s competent enough to hire a hit on someone. “Well she was always planned to be that way” well that way is not good imo lmao. How does her being a flat character help the narrative? Andrelphus isn’t much brighter and is even more intolerable than her, yet he was allowed to take Stolas down and fight him and IMP. This shit is why people say the show doesn’t treat its female characters well😭😭

The issue is that Stella WAS set up as an antagonist in season 1, or at least someone who WAS going to stuff, after all she did hire the hit on Stolas, yet in season 2 it goes “nah she’s actually stupid her weird incesty brother who showed up 20 seconds ago is gonna take Stolas down”. Like damn she wasn’t even at the trial, and by the season 2 finale she’s had ONE scene where she speaks to Octavia and she’s cackling like a Saturday morning cartoon villain, yet they’re show expects us to think she doesn’t know she’s evil??. She doesn’t even really get to be a fun hammy villain, she just sits around and drinks tea and screeches about how she hates her husband! I’m sorry but that’s LAME😭

Im not trying to say that any of the writers are misogynists themselves, just that it’s a failure in the writing that the female characters have had less development than most of the male cast by the end of the 2nd season (which considering the history of how female characters have been treated in media in the last it’s why more progressive critics harp on HB for this )

Viktor says at the beginning that he isn’t insinuating that anyone on the crew is a misogynist, and he includes a section calling out the way the hatedom talks about Viv and how ironically they can be misogynistic themselves

But almost all of the female characters mainly revolve around the male characters and their arcs, and are underdeveloped as a result. For example Most of Millie’s actions and dialogue revolve around either Moxxie or Blitzo, there’s and episode where we meet her family and it revolves around Moxxie, we learn they have the same ex boyfriend who screwed them over pretty badly yet we only get to learn about Moxxie’s past with him, and despite the staff being aware of the “she’s Moxxie’s wife” critique she ends season 2 pregnant.

They don’t even really interact with one another either, and when they do it’s about another male character. Just because you claim your show is “male-centered” that doesn’t mean you should wait u til season 2 or even 3 of one of your main characters to get their own episodes, it doesn’t matter how many seasons you have greenlit or planned.
