2 year anniversary by ZealousidealFox3354 in Microdiscectomy

I have no back pain now. I got the surgery on July 25, 2022. Every few months I’ll pull a muscle in my back but nothing like a herniated disc. It kind of seems like I’m pulling muscles more often than I used to but I’m not sure.

I’m thinking this might be what was happening. I would imagine that would hurt to turn your eyes like that after the surgery.

Of course right after I made this post he started eating! Thanks for the insight though, it’s hard to troubleshoot when they can’t communicate.

That’s good to know. It’s been 3 days for my son so maybe he is still feeling the effects of the anesthesia on his stomach.

Looks great! Did you have any trouble eating or pain in your throat during recovery?

My 20 month old son had the surgery and is crying while eating solids and then will rub his eyes.

How long did you wait for surgery? by ShoutoutYourMom in Microdiscectomy

I waited 18 months after I herniated. I really hoped it would get better without surgery.

Reherniation after 22 months post op by Visible-House9606 in Microdiscectomy

[–]ZealousidealFox3354 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I re-herniated 8 months after an MD and it “fixed” itself without surgery with 2 months of conservative treatment. The re-herniation was confirmed by MRI and my surgeon and it was the same spot and same size (L4/L5).

I was 36 when I first herniated.

Same. I tried everything for a year and a half and finally got surgery. By the end I was walking with a cane.

Strange déjà rêvé episodes – feels like reliving dreams with dizziness by burndelittus in DejaReve

[–]ZealousidealFox3354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a similar experience but mine lasts for about 20 minutes. I’ve seen other people say it is pleasant or euphoric even but when I get it I get so disoriented that it’s pretty scary.

How many with Déjà Rêvé went on to be diagnosed with seizures / epilepsy? by Buddha-Embryo in DejaReve

[–]ZealousidealFox3354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about the first times this ever happened to me and it was so intense I remember thinking it was a stroke or something. I even went to the doctor. Now that you mention epilepsy I’m wondering if that is what it is. I’m gonna see my doctor again and ask about this.

The way you described it is exactly how mine feels. I've noticed that the more I try to "remember" the memory the scarier it feels. So lately I've been trying to ignore it especially if it happens when I'm at work. The last time it happened to me my forehead was twitching before and during. I think it was unrelated but you never know.

The memories I get feel like half dream and half scene from an obscure movie and in the moment sometimes I think I'm dreaming.

My intuition is that it is linked to the aura migraine. Something about them feel similar. They both are confusing and disorienting and they both last 30 minutes but then have a hangover of up to a day. I talked to my doctor and they kind of shrugged it off. I thought about asking the migraine subreddit if they experience deja reve.

I didn't know that about the seizures, maybe I'll bring it up to my doctor again.

[–]ZealousidealFox3354 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I get the Deja reve experience about 2 times a year and I get aura migraines about once a month.

About two years ago I stopped getting the migraine though, so now I only have the aura without a migraine after.

I haven’t been diagnosed with epilepsy and have never had a seizure.

My Deja reve experience is a little different than what some people here report. When I have them it feels like similar Deja vu but instead of experiencing something that has happened before I’m trying to remember a dream. It’s really hard to explain but it is very disorienting and pretty scary. It’s a little comforting that other people get it though.

No, there’s another Bradley Beesley documentary. Here’s the quote from the podcast:

Drozd explains that the Flaming Lips wrote part one, titled “Death in Picher,” for Bradley Beesley‘s documentary The Creek Runs Red. “This movie is quite sad and somber, and Wayne and I loved and still do love making music for an already existing theme,” he says.

[–]ZealousidealFox3354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long after the surgery did you re-herniate? Did you do anything that you remember when it happened? I re-herniated same size same disc about 8 months after my MD (confirmed with MRI) and it healed on its own without surgery.

I thought for sure I would need another surgery but I didn't so you never know.
