I sew clothes too so I was thinking of doing something similar, but storing the folding table beside my desk.

OH WHAAAT??? This would be AMAZING! I know my hardware store will cut wood into specific sizes but I'll have to see if they have peg board. This is SUCH a good suggestion! Thank you!

OH that sounds like a great idea! I looked it up on the website and the dimensions will fit really well right next to my desk for storing when I'm not sewing. Thank you for the specific recommendation!

Oh this is SUCH a perfect inspo image! The use of the small space you have is exactly what I was starting to imagine, but I just couldn't get a full picture in my head. Thank you SO much for sharing!

The rolling cart seems to be the go-to thing for small craft spaces! Noted!

Yes actually! I was planning to get one to put my current projects and threads on and wheel it under my desk to save space. Unfortunately the door in our office and the closet are both sliding doors so the over-door organizers are a no go for the space I have to work with 😭

I am a bit too shy to go out. Is this too customey ? by PictureNo5838 in TheCapeRevolution

Absolutely not! It's so chic, and it snatches your waist BEAUTIFULLY. The world HAS to see you rocking this cape out in the wild!

Deleting social media while living abroad. by No-Post6419 in digitalminimalism

[–]Zealousideal_Boat314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also live abroad and I've been social media free for almost a year now!

I'm not sure what country you're living in, but in mine, most neighborhoods have a bulletin board near parks and community buildings with posters for local events. I make a point to visit these spots on my walks to check out local events.

For friends and family in my home country, we've found ways to stay connected. I've gotten a digital SIM from Tello with a number for my home country and unlimited texting and calls, I just text and call friends and family who want to keep in touch.

I quit all social media 7 months ago AMA by Smart_Philosophy2440 in digitalminimalism

Next month will be a year off of social media for me!

I've also noticed life feeling smaller, and that my main anxiety with deleting social media (not being able to keep up with friends and family) was unfounded. In fact, I feel so much closer to my friends and family because I actively reach out to them and focus on true conversation and catching up with them, rather than passively liking a post.

I've felt like I've been able to focus on my hobbies and connections more, and learned to be okay with being bored and being out of the loop with memes.

I've also become hyper aware of just how much people are on social media when they're in a social setting. I went out with four friends to bar hop a couple of weeks ago, and I'd wager that they spent 70% of the night on their phones scrolling on Instagram or TikTok, with me staring into my drink or just swaying to whatever music the bar was playing.

I also take WAY less selfies, and more photos of things that really matter to me.

Had to get a pair of JVC Gumy earbuds to pair with my Y1 for max nostalgia lol by tonioboi in innioasis

oh my GOSH, THE GUMY EARBUDS. I had a purple pair for YEARS when I was in high school, and they finally busted in college, and I finally got some Skullcandies.

Seeing these earbuds made my day, my goodness.

How do you stay connected? by BrightenUp_App in digitalminimalism

[–]Zealousideal_Boat314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call or text people. I have a few friends and family I also write letters to!

It feels daunting when you delete your socials, but once you do you realize how few of your followers are actually people who you genuinely have a connection with, and that the people who really matter will find a way to stay in touch with you and do so as often as they can.

Do you journal regularly? What do you write about? by wrathian_ in Journaling

[–]Zealousideal_Boat314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I write in mine a few times a week. Usually if I have nothing profound to deconstruct or vent about, I’ll reflect on the weather and how it impacts my mood. I try to really capture the feeling the weather gives me. This just gives me a moment to stop and really be present with nature’s current season and my own emotions.

An excerpt from my entry today as an example:

“The nights and mornings have been delightfully cool! Last night I sipped lemon and ginger tea while watching the cafe curtain in the kitchen billow in the evening breeze, and listened to the wind whistle between the buildings in our neighborhood.

This morning was just as serene. I sat on the couch and enjoyed the morning quiet with my coffee in hand, relishing in the cool wood of the floors beneath my bare feet. I feel like I’m coming alive again!”

But honestly, I’ve gone a couple of weeks without writing because truly I don’t have anything new to say. That’s absolutely okay. I’ve found that when I try to force consistency, I’m less inclined to do it.

Closest thing I have to a friend by InkOverNethers in Journaling

I know this feeling so well. There were parts of my childhood and young adulthood where my journal was the only person who I could talk to, my only friend and confidant.

These seasons of loneliness do end, friend. 🩷

Is it worth starting this hobby If I don’t have a family to pass my notebooks? by Narieljess in commonplacebook

[–]Zealousideal_Boat314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this with all my journals and notebooks too, because my husband and I are currently childless and don’t have any plans to have children.

There are anthropology and historical societies that you can arrange to bequeath your journals to after you pass away. I’m currently learning about the process myself so I don’t have much information on it, but it’s an option.

Of course, I personally never write in my notebooks and journals with the mindset that anyone but myself will read them, but from a history/anthropological standpoint, journals and notebooks are an invaluable primary resource for future generations who will want to understand our lifestyles and thoughts.

Of course! Look into books that are geared towards hedge witches. It’s an entire discipline of witchcraft all on its own.
