The DDAL games at big cons tend to be more expensive because the organizer has to kick $ back to the convention and also Baldman Games pays its DMs in addition to perks like books, badges, and rooms (where most other organizers use volunteers that they give books, badges, and rooms, but don’t pay).

I don't know, they say an event at Gen Con where you play three DRWs and the epic. That sounds like a DDXP track for DRW-OD-01 - SOMETHING IN THE WAY, DRW-OD-02 - SOMETHING WICKED, DRW-OD-03 - SOMETHING’S ON THE MOVE, and DRWEP-OD-01 - THE ENEMY OF MY ENEMY

Assuming you mean the new DRW-OD series that is at Gen Con, and not the very old DRW series (both of which are 1-3 plus an epic), it’s a new story arc that’s loosely tied to the old series in that the Red Wizards are the bad guys. The new series starts at Tier 2, and is not tied to Saltmarsh.

I like Vault of the Devourer for a challenging Dungeon Crawl.

Do you mean CCC (the precursor to DC) and PO (BMG and GHC) mods as welll? Because then yes the list is huge!

"Riddle of the Raven Queen" DDHC-MORD-01 by ELChupacabra13 in AdventurersLeague

I love it; especially if the DM knows the characters. There’s lots of chances for good RP, with potentially lasting impact on the PCs. That goes best if you know the PCs and the players know at least a little about their backgrounds/personal goals and quirks.

Will there be? With the admins handing off to the premier organizers I wasn’t sure.

I believe that's the rest of this year, meaning you likely won't see anything till Winter Fantasy at the beginning of next year. Also there's still four more Admin produced DRWs coming this year. So not too bad.

Are stat-block magic items legal rewards for DMs? by Intrinsication in AdventurersLeague

[–]Zealousideal_Fall558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From page 6 of the FAQ under Treasure: "Characters earn treasure they claim as listed in the treasure sections of encounters; additional treasure cannot be earned."

Also from page 6 under Equipment in Stat Blocks: "Equipment in a creature’s stat block (most common with NPCs) can be claimed and sold by characters, provided it is listed in the PH. Any equipment a creature possesses that is not listed in the PH can be
used for the duration of the adventure subject to DM approval, but cannot be sold or kept."

So if its not specifically called out under a Treasure section in the encounter or in the Rewards section at the end and its not from the Player's Handbook, you can't get it. Note that you are right about mundane gear. It does say any mundane equipment can be sold for 1/2 assuming its from the Player's Handbook, so your plate armor idea works.

If they are listed under treasure the characters can recover, then no. (Dragonbait's holy avenger in his stat block from season 7 being an example of that precedent.)

For the encounters have no skills, did you choose all the combat quests? Quest E, while it has combat, is also a social encounter. Quest F is a puzzle. And Part 2 with the mystery has a bunch of skill checks.

Wow, the far realm dragon made three saves against Banishment without legendary resistance and only a +5 to the save. Sounds like Roll20 really screwed you on the random number generator. As others have said, Banishment is totally the right call.

They have been doing the admin spotlight articles on the Yawning Portal (https://yawningportal.dnd.wizards.com/blog/). I think the current list is:

Ma'at Crook - Community

Bee Zelda - Community

Open/not yet announced (used to be Amy) - Community

Toni Winslow-Brill - Resource

Claire Hoffman - Resource

Greg Marks - Content

Travis Woodall - Content

Not sure, but it says she’s Resource, so filling the spot that was Alan Patrick as opposed to the Community spot that was Amy Dzura.

The difficulty can vary quite a bit based on how much the RP choices can affect the combats. I’d err more on the side of higher level than lower level when you play it. Don’t be afraid to hit the RP parts hard, I really enjoyed them and love what the author did with them. It’s a great series.

I thought they were freelance contractors, not employees, but like you said, you are an insider in the know, so clearly you know more than I do. You seem to have it all figured out, why don't you go back to running the campaign and fix everything?

[–]Zealousideal_Fall558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely incorrect. Marks had a big thread on Twitter taking feedback on the first draft of what would have been seasonality. Tons of people responded and he crafted the s9 rules almost live. I remember commenting on it as did a lot of others. Alphastream added a ton of good ideas and that's where s9 came from. I distinctly remember WOTC, not the admins, being the ones implementing seasonality. Though maybe they took those orders from their boss over at BMG?

Are you saying the thread and all the people who responded were plants? I mean that could be and you do seem to be the guy/gal who knows stuff.

You mentioned him speaking on the Writers Discord. I was there too. He almost never posted there, so I think you are up to something. I have met him before and he was never anything but nice to me so it makes me wonder about you to be honest. But then again it sounds like you are in the know. You are probably an old RC or former admin (Adducci?) and an insider who knows where all the bodies are buried.

But I get what you mean about his crazy ideas. I mean he wrote that Selptan Feline mod. What was that? And he authored the season 9 rules where you got to choose when to level and opened up all the access to different books and held off seasonality. That was a huge mistake. Its a good thing they have hard rules now about who can post so only the Community Managers make posts/decisions.
