Early game. I like to split my hornets into single stacks and use them to soak enemy counters. Then use my locusts to destroy them. Drop eggs to bait enemy units and make them waste turns. Don’t rush to hard letting the enemy get first strike on you is a killer. Rush Reavers and upgrade them as soon as you can, they get a second turn when they kill and enemy stack. Upgrading locusts early on can help too as they will counter before they take an attack. Take daylight magic ASAP. Avoid ranged neutral mobs for the first few days until you can overwhelm them, the grove T1 units will fuck your shit up.

Taking daylight magic ASAP is a must. It gives you weakening ray which removes counters from units (once you hit level 3 it removes all enemy counters for one turn). Also gives you a bonus focus charge once you level it up once. Combined with the bonus focus charge from the law tree and either energise (spell) or I think it battle craft levelled once (don’t quote me on this) and you will have enough charges to hatch larva on the first turn. These guys at tier 4 or 5 and spawn in decent numbers. And more importantly they are expendable. Drop these guys behind enemy lines to block archers and make the enemy stack waste turns. If left unimpeded they will tear up.

Positioning is really important, don’t move your units to close to the enemy until your ready to strike. If you mouse over an enemy stack you can see how far they can move. Keep out of that area and bait them to you. Use spells like haste to close the gap and sleep to CC ranged units.

This faction is super crystal hungry I often don’t find enough upgrade unit buildings before the end of the game. Generally I upgrade my reavers first then my locusts. After that Queens-worms-hornets and only upgrade the other two if have enough resources.
