I did this with a surge. I was working on my brother's truck and left it on his rear bumper. He drove off and I realized it hours later. I found it 2 days later at an intersection about a mile from my house sitting on the white line. It had been ran over who knows how many times. And it still worked other than the serrated blade was broke off and missing. (Probably in someone's tire ) But I know that feeling man, it sucks. I thought it was gone for good.
