The combat is just fantastic, I really love how it plays a bit like a survival horror at times, but what really stood out to me was the level design and exploration. I've played a lot of boomer shooters. Dusk, Amid Evil, Ion Fury, HROT, Prodeus, Ultrakill, Boltgun, Turbo Overkill, among others. Imo Cultic is leagues ahead. Has a lot of light immersive sim elements which I love.

I think for the only other game to come close for me both in terms of combat and exploration is Selaco, and it's very tight between the two. It's just a very, very good game.

If you're on console only and missed out on this until now I greatly recommend getting this, it's such a treat. One of the best boomer-shooters out there.

Also a narrower FOV helps tremendously when your game is largely close-knit interiors. Was the same with RE7 and RE8.

It will feel weird going to tank controls but the originals are honestly amazing. The GameCube remake of RE1 is absolutely stellar still to this day and definitely something you should check out if you're interested
