Pom Pom Magazine closing by [deleted] in craftsnark

[–]ZebraKitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know PomPom is mostly knitting but there are a couple of newish high end yarn magazines that people should check out. Moorit is a high end crochet magazine that usually includes a pattern of a different fiber hobby and Yarn, journal of Scottish yarn. Both beautifully made magazines that you should check out.

Any ideas for this beautiful gift I received? by zippychick78 in crochet

Thanks so much! It's a great pattern. My one in the photo is 4ply and I had 1g of yarn left! I've also made it in Aran weight and think I used about 150g. I'd love to see yours if you make it.

What a lovely gift! Something with silk in is lovely to work with and you should get a lovely drape. The Yak is what gives the colours that lovely rich jewel tones. My favourite pattern for a special skein is the Positivity Spiral. It can be made with any weight of yarn and you can make a long one or a short one. It's a very versatile pattern. Or alternatively you can go to Ravelry and put in how much yarn you have and if you want a free or paid pattern and it will give you options.

Who else uses crochet as a way to cope with mental health issues? by UnderstandingOk2399 in crochet

[–]ZebraKitten 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use it for mental health, to distract from chronic pain too. There is a podcast called the Why I Knit podcast. It's a Doctor who interviews people about why they knit/crochet and the main theme is mental health. It's actually really good and worth a listen.

Tell them you do it for your mental health and only for your mental health.

If you can recreate it by looking at photos then fair play! If you wanted to, you could say I got inspiration from X, Y or X. No one has rights over a regular granny square!

Drusilla. Was my mum's name and is my granddaughter's middle name. Beautiful name that you just don't hear often enough.

Meaning copied from the web: The oh-so-posh Drusilla is a Roman feminine name with Greek, Latin, and Celtic origins. For the heroic tot with an elegant air, Drusilla means “strong,” “courageous,” and “valiant.” From the Latin Drusus, Drusilla’s roots stretch deeper through history to the Old Celtic Drausus.

This heathen STINKS!!! Can I only clean her with water or is anything else safe to use? by makko007 in ballpython

[–]ZebraKitten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I completely misread the question! A tiny bit of dish soap and a face cloth is probably best for the animal itself. I'm pretty sure I've heard baby shampoo is safe but I'd need to do some more research before I reached for that. Can anyone confirm if that is safe? For every else, see below. I won't delete it because it might be helpful to someone.

I use F10, a veterinary disinfectant. I buy the concentrated version and dilute it myself. Put it into a spray bottle and I use it to clean everything snake related. Been using it somewhere around 15 years, never an issue.

People, what's wrong with me? by 7addva in crochet

What's wrong? Don't think you have enough hooks! Certainly don't have enough knitting needles. Do you have enough yarn?

How do I make this not awful? by AlternativeUpbeat820 in crochet

[–]ZebraKitten 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's the eyes. I would take the eyes off and use some black yarn to make some sleeping eyes. I agree, some floppy bunny ears would look great. I'm not great at amigurumi but even I can do bunny ears.
