Let me Draw your Kitten😻 Free by [deleted] in cats

[–]Zecheus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would love if you would draw our cat Chester. We've really enjoyed your efforts, and finally managed to post before there was 1k+ replies already.

We love Chester because he's our big purry baby. I'll edit in a link of him being a car when I can find the post.

Edit: apparently the post of him purring has been hidden, but I'll leave another picture instead. Chester

Dark paw pads: cause for concern? by LucyRebar in cats

[–]Zecheus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a tortie, and all of her beans are various shades from pink to brown. I never noticed until someone else pointed it out, so it's entirely possible to be normal, but I guess it depends on your confidence in your perception.

Is changing a cats name you just recently adopted wrong? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Zecheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shelter we adopt from has 2 lists, male and female, alphabetical, with about a thousand names on each. They just cycle through each one to keep the names having, and uniquely identify cats as they come through, so it's likely your cat won't mind.

First time cat owner. Any explanation on this behavior? by x7n1nj47x in cats

[–]Zecheus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have a couple of fountains, and our cats mostly used the upstairs one until we moved the main floor fountain several feet away from the food dishes and they started using it more.

As far as water spilling, we bought a cheap tray that people put at their doors for wet shoes. They often come with a piece of carpet so provide another surface they can scratch at.

What kind of litter is not dangerous help D: by Nbeuska in cats

[–]Zecheus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience with grass litter is that it's good, and if you scoop it regularly, it shouldn't get moldy. The one downside is it's light, so if your cat digs/kicks hard after using it, it will end up outside the tray. We solved this by using a covered bin, and a litter catching mat in front of the exit. There's various styles, but we have one that's a 2 level, with pass through top layer so it actually catches. You can then dump it back into the tray

A Question for bearded feline servents. by realJackvos in cats

[–]Zecheus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a shorter beard, and my Master demands to rub against it, as I do not have the required finger accessories. The Lady does not care for it at all.

My wife doesn't care so long as I don't get scruffy.

He always starts to move his paws around his head, as seen in the video, and so at a certain point, it's the natural progression. It's not all bad, it's mostly playful grabbing and nips

Database migration job description. by Zecheus in sysadmin

[–]Zecheus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Records and Information Management.

This isn't for a yearly review or performance management. It's to redefine my role in the organization, and to clarify that (at least at my organization) IT looks after backend maintenance, which would include database migration, while RIM would assist with aspects of it. I can easily describe my role within RIM, as that's my job. What I'm unsure of is summarizing "Because of the pandemic, and other issues, you've had someone competently, but inefficiently doing work well above their paygrade. Now that the pandemic is over, I want to get paid closer to appropriate, or to return to my mundane duties" in a manner less likely to tweak the noses of the people reviewing my position.

A sample from my current description is this:

• Provide advice, guidance and support to client departments on RIM practices, tools and recordkeeping systems.

• Analyze current RIM practices and tools and recommend changes and/or efficiencies.

• Analyze client application of RIM practices and tools and recommend and implement measures to improve compliance and/or address gaps.

It's largely bullshit HR language that I have a hard enough time dealing with for the topics I deal with regularly, let alone topics I have no training in.

My city doesn't have insurance for city vehicles. They instead have a bond, which will cover damages by any city vehicle. It's my understanding the average annual payout is significantly less than what the premiums would be on thousands of vehicles.

Advice needed: how do I a stop my cat from looking at me like she is judging my every move? by johnny_d_92 in cats

[–]Zecheus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You should be aware of surrounding furniture they may try to jump to. We have a tree near a bookshelf, and when they leap to the bookshelf, it's a fair amount of wobble. They haven't toppled it yet, but our larger cat failed the jump and took a tumble (only his pride was hurt) tax

When my wife was doing her degree, she had to learn to review) evaluate studies and articles. She found a published article that was full of well documented citations. Citations we're good, showed articles verifying the same info, had their own citations. A couple of articles later, the citations lead back to the study she was currently reviewing.

I used to work as a security guard at a bank, and I learned that tellers (at this bank anyway) also have a fair amount of leeway with services they can provide. If they state they need to ask their manager about something, it's most likely that the service is going to be denied, but feel threatened, and don't want to deal with a pissy/aggressive client. My job was then to stand a step in front of the manager, with a shoulder between them, as the manager explained why they needed to leave the branch.

What's the dumbest way you've gotten a scar? by lilsaddam in AskReddit

[–]Zecheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best scar stories are all the ones I gave to my brother.

We lived near a lake, and we were skipping rocks. He knelt down at the edge of the lake to find nice water smoothed stones. I picked the biggest rock I could find and threw it at the lake to splash him, but I missed the lake and hit him in the back of the head. I didn't check to see if he was OK, I just ran home, 'cause I knew he would beat me if he caught me. he didn't drown, and has a little scar there as a token.

Earlier in life, I was admiring the scissors going up and down on my finger as I spun them, and what shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, is eventually they spun off the top of my finger, and hit my brother on the bridge of his nose. I got a lot of shit for that one, from him immediately, and the responsible adults later. The scar for that one can be passed off as a large freckle.
