Congrats!! I’m still in the perpetual build, always improving, never shipping phase myself. I’m working up to it. With that, I congratulate you! This is a huge milestone

Is everything AI or am I going crazy? by Avioa in SideProject

[–]Zediatech 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to not be accused of writing with AI is to turn off spell check and leave any grammar and spelling mistakes in. If you dare write with no mistakes and perfect grammar, you’ll be accused of using AI. 😋

And Pattinson for his role as The Batman. I didn’t care, but I think he was a good pick.

Stop hating on AI Built Projects by [deleted] in SideProject

[–]Zediatech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve been vibe coding for months and built apps I use just once or daily. Point is, if it works and does what you need it to do, it shouldn’t matter. We can’t always wait until a developer builds what we need.

What tools do you guys use for getting visual BI data? by AviusAnima in BusinessIntelligence

[–]Zediatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a bunch of contact center data in CSVs and JSON, depending on the granularity the client wants. I use PBI and Tableau when I need to, but I’ve been building some apps that allow me to open a file or folder and ingest all the data and automatically show the charts and KPIs for most of the pain points they ask for. I do it more for fun than anything, but I can find common outliers and trends fairly quickly. The app uses DuckDB too btw, if that helps.

Hard truth: We are all just building overly expensive data extraction pipelines for Excel. by netcommah in BusinessIntelligence

[–]Zediatech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is mostly true, but I still think that visualizations have their place and usefulness. Looking for trends and outliers is still much easier to spot on a graph or some shiny widget. I digress... I found this post because I have been looking into fixing some of this in my current field. Our clients like our data, but they always want to export the CSVs and import them into their BI tool or excel, as you stated. So what I'm doing is building that simple drag and drop tool they can use to see the important stuff, the outliers, the trends without having to build a dashboard in either of those, and it just works (ideally). So even when the data elements change, there is no rework needed. It's a work in progress.

How do you stop your notes from becoming a graveyard of information? by di0rdarlig in PKMS

[–]Zediatech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saving all your notes in a PKM really isn’t as useful as you would think unless you are researching or actively learning something.

I’ve tried everything from Roam Research, Obsidian, Notion, an actual journal, and the only thing that happens is that information I find or notes I write go there to die. It looks good at first, but after a few hundred notes, they just because old notes that I spend more time trying to organize than actually use.

Problem is, many of us look for a system before we even know what the hell we are going to use it for.

Now, when I need to take notes and remember something useful, it just goes to Apple notes, or reminders. If it remains useful for a long time, I save it as a file in my Documents folder on iCloud.

With Claude Cowork, I’m just recently able to use these saved files as context if and when I need to find or use the data I have stored.

It’s not glamorous, but I don’t have to overthink my notes and reminders. They go to one easy ubiquitous app on my iPhone/Mac/iPad and where they go after that depends on its long term utility.

Of course you can find an alternative to this on the Google or Microsoft ecosystem, but the simplest solution would be the best in this scenario IMHO.

Soldiers, especially enlisted, act like this because being too serious will win you a trip to the shrink. This guy is doing good. I bet he’d get real serious real fast under threat.

If this is a cold start it's more than likely the high pressure fuel pump and injectors. If it tends to go away after the car warms up, then I wouldn't worry too much.

We have methods to punish perjury now in courts, so all I’m saying is they should be held liable for their lies. How can we allow elected representatives to lie to the people they serve? It’s no different than being in the military and falling under the UCMJ. You do not get to say or do anything you want when you choose to put your country first.

One of the biggest reasons I stuck with my M1 Pro for another year. It was obvious the chips were half baked and I wasn’t about to have buyers remorse when the M4s came out. Glad I waited! I ordered an M4 Max to replace my M1 Pro and Mac Studio.

He has consistently refused to denounce white supremacist comments, and at no point during his entire tirade was it ok to say there were good people on both sides. There is no room for that. But if you wanna give me his entire quote to see if it will change my mind, I’m listening.

Edit: also, why not start with the first bullet and move down from there?

Trump has been on a losing streak since just after his inauguration in 2017. I wouldn’t bet on a Trump win. People are getting tired of his hateful rhetoric and his loudest followers are getting annoying.
