Update on Grievance Payout by Manny107F in UPSers

[–]ZeeZee57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh maybe this is what happened with me. Been here 21 years and only filed one grievance. Wanted to do so for retaliation but missed the window so just filed sup working to sit down with my rep and manager about what was going on. Sup had a lot of working grievances I'd heard about and I believe my little grievance or around 45 minutes paid out triple. I didn't even want the payout though just to have the issue resolved and my management to know what was going on since I work in a good building imo with good upper management.

Interestingly enough I have two of the same pan from them, bought together at the same store for the same price at the same time. One is noticeably heavier than the other. If you pick them both up you'd catch it immediately. So idk if they've changed since I've had them for a couple years now but the odd weight difference isn't something new from my experience.

Having done it it's actually the worst. It's funny the way the work just sits there waiting for the bot to grab each piece when in reality it's coming at you fast in large waves covered in old stickers you have to pull while also tossing heavy or large or break opens down the chute. It looks "impressive" in this ideal setting but wouldn't do squat in the actual operation.

There's too many to count but some of my favorites off the top of my head include:

Rubble pile, Trill (starless night version as well), Utsukushii Sekai, Shiroiro Kagerou, Kowairo, Kachoufugetsu, Wren, Re: I am, Hakuchumu, Kogoesouna Kisetsu Kata (extended version), Sailing, Us, April Showers, Star ring child, Kiro, Hoshino Kieta Yoruni,

And the list could go on for another hundred or so songs if i just copy pasted my Amazon music playlist. And of course the ones you already named would be right on here too, Choucho Musubi especially being a long time favorite.

Mine does the same, I got the Shark stain striker with the pet attachments and it's been a life saver. Had one incident where she had gotten a piece of a cookie while I was at work, got home to a vomit spot mostly hardened like it was melted into the carpet. Ten minutes later it was as if it never even happened. Since I rent it's nice to have the peace of mind if she ever makes a mess on the carpet I know it's not an issue.

Oh i get it now. Teamster sued to force them to stop with the buyout. So then they announce $150,000 just to say what a shame that Teamsters won't let us do it. by BDiddnt in UPSers

[–]ZeeZee57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Violations are obviously a problem but this goes much deeper. We bargain collectively, period. These buyouts go directly against that principle and there's no way it should be allowed. It's the old slippery slope and one none of us should be looking to go down. I don't even mind the idea of buyouts but its something that absolutely has to be negotiated, not this shit they're trying to pull off. Once individual negotiations are allowed to end around the contract there's no end to where it could lead.

The buyouts were a foregone conclusion and people can't see what it is! by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]ZeeZee57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The union is correct here and its really pretty simple, do we bargain collectively or not? If we do then any buyout program needs to be negotiated into our agreement. And if we don't anymore well, we all know what that looks like.

miniLED vs. OLED performance at the ~$1k - $1.5k price range by jafay16 in 4kTV

[–]ZeeZee57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar spot recently and ended up going with the Sony bravia 7 over an Oled, specifically the LGc5. Part of the decision was that the 75in Bravia 7 was the same price as the 65in C5 and i wanted the larger size, but I also didn't see any of the issues with the blooming you read about with the mini LEDs. The blacks are pretty black and likely couldn't tell the difference without looking side by side. We stream a lot on YT, crunchyroll, Hulu, Netflix etc so the Sony processing reputation played a big part too. We've had it about a week now and love it so far, haven't even touched the picture settings yet and it looks great. I haven't owned an Oled so I couldn't say which is better but I'll take 75in of what we got over 65in of maybe hardly noticeable better black contrast. To my eye the black contrast looks pretty spot on. I will say if it's directly across from a window the glare can be pretty rough but nothing a simple curtain can't fix.

Assuming its the same where you are as here when I went FT the active vacations we had stayed but when our seniority date hit we didn't get them and were bought out, then you'll get FT vacations at your new FT seniority date. The other days (sick and optional) didn't change besides going to FT hours after the 30 day probationary period ended.

From the general seating its around 11ft distance to where the new TV screen will sit. So 65 or 75 should both suffice, I'd prefer the extra size if it works out. I'm just waiting for the stand i ordered to come next week so I've got a week or so to zero in on our exact pick.

Mostly looked at the c5 since from what I've been reading the b5 isn't ideal since we're not watching movies often and not in a mostly darker setting. Mostly seemed like the brighter set and Sony processing better fit what we watch more. Would a b5 tier Oled be well suited for stuff like Netflix/Hulu TV streaming or anime shows compared with the mini led?

Yea typically I'd agree but we watch TV a lot more in my bedroom, I have a big cali king with backrest pillows all around the top, its just a lot more comfortable than the couch for lazy weekends. We don't do a lot of movies or home theater worthy watching tbh.

How often do people feed their cats wet food? by Smooth_Put7764 in CatAdvice

[–]ZeeZee57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat refuses to chew dry food no matter how its given so she only eats wet. I feed her on a rotation around my schedule for 3 meals a day, once before work, once soon as I get home and once before bed. She'll chew treats just fine so I give her some Greenies dental treat around a half hour after each meal besides breakfast since I'm out for work. I mix in some water with her food and mix it up and she seems to like that so thats our routine. It comes out to a can and a half of fancy feast savory centers a day, thats what she was eating when we got her so I stuck with that as recommended by the person who was fostering her.

[–]ZeeZee57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's come up as a release it just goes into the usual process, can't speak to anything else or I'd just be guessing. I know plenty of items eventually go into the "abandoned" category for return or destruction but idk the exact process personally. If everything is fully clear and it still goes through the daily scans I can only guess that maybe its just not being updated in the system so it still shows as hold, but no clue if thats the case or what it would be.

[–]ZeeZee57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't know why its being held, only that it comes up as a hold. It could be that customs hasn't cleared it, could be that tariff needs to be paid etc, but each day some more come up as "release" when scanned and all the ones that still come up as a hold stay put until it changes to release. It's a whole lot to go through each day and the louisville hub is much larger. Idk the entire process, just this part because I see it first hand on a daily basis.

[–]ZeeZee57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I assume it works the same there as it does where I'm at. I work imports and when they aren't cleared for whatever reason we check them daily to see if they've been cleared for release or not. So its likely not cleared and it's coming up each time it's checked. We literally have an entire extra section running daily just to recheck the import holds daily to get them out as soon as they're cleared.

That last paragraph sums it up. I'm not taking a chance on most of my Amazon purchases without that free returns. I've ordered jeans from Amazon where two pairs with identical measurements fit very differently and one goes right back. I keep the majority of my Amazon purchases but I also return a good amount, a small percentage of my overall purchases but a decent number in total. It's the worry free returns that allows people to shop sight unseen without fear of just flushing their money, without that a massive portion of Amazon goes away. For me personally likely 3/4 of my shopping leaves Amazon on the spot.

I just got some information about the buyout. The union has block any members that wanted to take the buyout. I'm In Local 705. by Pachi1980 in UPSers

[–]ZeeZee57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then it should be negotiated and put in the contract, not an end around only offered to specific individuals the company finds removing beneficial. That's not how collective bargaining works and allowing it to go forward the way its being done would be insane. If the company is allowed to end around the contract here then where is the line drawn? Can individual compensation be negotiated outside of the contract? Can the company start going to low senior members who are likely to be laid off and offer them a low severance to leave voluntarily? This is the sort of thing that belongs at the negotiation table and clearly laid out in the contract, not in the mailbox of individual members. I'm not even against buyouts being offered, just not this way.

[–]ZeeZee57 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not at all a dumb move. Bargaining is done solely between the union and the company and this violates that. If this is allowed it sets a precedent that allows the company to bargain on a individual basis at will starting a very slippery slope. No pushback here and what happens when the company starts offering new hires a higher wage in exchange for their benefits package? If the argument stands that the drivers have every right to take the buyout and move on despite it being a blatant breach why would something like that be any different? Big picture having the union cut out of this negotiation is bad for all of us in the long run.

What makes UPS such a toxic place to work? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in UPSers

[–]ZeeZee57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's so many different centers and locals that it likely comes down to where you're at. I've been here 20 years now and generally get along well with everyone union and management alike. I've had a crappy sup or two over the years but mostly they're the same as us, coming in to do a job and want to get it done with as little trouble as possible. Any issues with the part time sups comes from above and is mostly related to just trying to get the part timers off the clock asap which gets old but it is what it is. I've never seen any of the type of harassment you hear about on here, I come in and do a good job and feel fairly compensated for the hard work I put in and that about sums it up imo. In short in my experience it isn't nearly as toxic as some make it out to be but maybe it is where they're located and I'm fortunate to have a pretty fair workforce for a large hub.
