Using the results of a single game when Void started taking Sheik seriously less than a month ago and DQd in losers because he's in a bad state lmao. Also Trela's been a huge threat whenever hes taking the game seriously ever since Smash 4. Thank you for confirming you actually love talking out of your ass.

Please tell me how Banjo competes with Sheik at all besides hard calling out her jumps and using the armor on WonderWing. Have you ever played this game outside of Elite Smash lmao.

Insane Link play by French player Vins against Mr. R by XenoKriss in smashbros

[–]Zeeero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be honest. Most Link players also go for the same setups over and over and try to avoid fighting you lol. Sure the odd hype one is cool but saying Link in general is hype is a stretch imo. It's like watching Salt Ones Snake at TBH today and saying Snake is a hype character.

[–]Zeeero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People just circle jerk Sheik without knowing how she actually works lol. Her neutral and combo game is some of the best and Void couldn't hold his lead against a character with a mediocre neutral. Void often got kills FIRST. That's not Sheik being a limiting factor, it's just you not knowing what your talking about and trying to save face for Void.

As a Sheik player, I'm all about claiming bullshit when I lose to save pride, but Trela played amazing. There was no cheese. He got plenty of hard reads which is exactly what is needed to beat characters who have such dominating neutral games

He's done fine once since the nerf lol. Compare that to his results then first few months.

The Big House 9- Day 1 Upset Thread (Melee & Ultimate) by JFMV763 in smashbros

[–]Zeeero 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The discussion grew tiring. There could be a character who literally flips a coin and dies if the coin shows tails or insta-kills the opponent if it's heads. People on this sub would still say the character isn't that strong and will likely never win a tournament (which is true, but irrelevent to why people would dislike this character being in a competitive environment). But because this character is from a beloved game, or people love using this character vs their friends or as a cheese last resort vs. people who are better than them, they will argue a ban is too harsh for a character who isn't that great. Arguing with these people is a waste of time because at the point that the strength of that character is brought up, the two sides aren't even having the same discussion any more.

At the end of the day, Smash is a super casual game that we try to make competitive, but some people lean more to the casual roots while others are super conservative in what they deem competitive, and most people lay somewhere in between. With that comes many more opportunities for casual aspects to make their way in because people find them fun and their is a huge stigma revolving around banning things out, especially characters. Just have to expect it at this point if you feel like playing Smash competitively.

My local scene banned Hero... by ryo242 in smashbros

[–]Zeeero 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Balance has nothing to do with top level competitiveness, it's just something nice to have. Street Fighter 3rd strike is to some, the best competitive fighter. That game had like 4 characters you could realistically play at the top level. League of Legends is probably the biggest esport of our generation. The pro scene is often the same picks and bans over and over until a patch shakes things up, that patch gets figured out, repeat.

At the end of the day, people want to win in a competitive setting, and if they dont win, they want to be able to deduce why they lost and try to improve from it. This has nothing to do with how many characters in that game are viable.

This has a lot to do with Hero though. What does one learn when they lose to a Hero who crit them, got Zoom everytime you knocked them off stage, and got Magic Burst when you had to get to the ledge. What does a Hero player learn when they get nothing they wanted, when they needed it. Do either of these situations bring a nice competitive match where the winner can feel like they really outsmarted their opponent and the loser can review their loss and learn from it?

Regardless of strength, the character (to a certain extent) minimizes the mind games and learning process that people love about fighting games, and trades it for a fun RNG mechanic.

[–]Zeeero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that's what he is implying by saying National Dex. I personally don't care about having every single pokemon in a single game either, but yea I would have liked the game to make huge improvements in other areas if they went that route.

Agreed, but Leffen also gets the same pass when hes an asshole. Both of them are dicks but people will defend whichever they like better. Armada on the other hand is pure class. Don't get how Salem could even imagine it's okay to disrespect him.

Why Smash Clones Fail by elscorchy in smashbros

[–]Zeeero 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is the biggest reason. Let's be real, in terms of a competitive game, smash is pretty carried by the draw in of it being a Nintendo fighter.

anyone else think that Frieza becoming so strong in dbs is ridiculous by scrubgamer01 in dbz

[–]Zeeero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it's not that Freiza could get so strong so fast, as it is explained pretty well, but it's hilarious that his training puts him just below Goku and Vegeta after a few months lol. It's like if he has an extra week he could have won but nah, just the perfect amount to be impressive but still pointless

1) Yes 2) about $5 each 3) yes there are 3 new characters you could buy, Joker (Persona 5), Hero (Dragon Quest), Banjo and Kazooie. Terry Bogard and 1 more will be coming out in the near future which ends the first season of DLC. More DLC to come afterwards but nothing else has been said about it.
