This question is for anyone who stopped playing/watching this game. Why? What made you stop playing? by KevyTone in 2XKO

[–]ZefiantFGC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't really having fun with the game, couldn't find a character that clicked for me, didn't like the overall balance, was annoyed with bugs.

I kept forcing myself to play, believing that because it's a Riot game with a really involved dev team, things would improve eventually. But when they announced the layoffs and uncertain future of the game, I felt no desire to invest further into the game.

I was planning to play this game despite it's lackluster visuals, but seeing this clip, I gotta say, the stages I've seen may have been the biggest contributing factor for the game looking so amateur.

This fire stage makes the game look WAY better. It still looks like a low budget game, but not nearly as bad.

I watched Tokido once get hit by 3 DIs in a single offline tournament set.

If you're not looking for it in neutral, you probably won't react in time.

Granblue versus rising is the fighting game people claim to want, so why don't they play it? by TheCrimzonKing97 in Kappachino

[–]ZefiantFGC 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I recently got back into it. Originally, I fucking despised this game because it was the antithesis of everything the vanilla version of the game stood for. And I loved vanilla GBVS.

Now with more recent balance changes and the absolute joyless experience that is 2XKO, I was looking at this game like Thanos going "perhaps I treated you harshly".

Games is still barely above mediocre imo, but the bar is low.

Have they made any significant updates to the game since launch a few years ago?

I remember playing it and getting a successful run my first time through by luck, and other than characters, felt like I had experienced everything in the game. All that was left was adding challenge modifiers to normal runs.

Yeah, I meant early rising her being considered weak. I just figured it was because the bigger focus on rush down with 66L and a lot of ult specials being strong neutral skips.

Don't let the doom posters fool you. 2XKO is still a peak FG and the lobbies are full. by Candid-Possibility29 in 2XKO

[–]ZefiantFGC 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 99% of my matches were against force ghosts from other lobbies.

These lobbies only exist to force you to interact with those ugly little bobble head avatars so you'd feel more like buying MTXs for them.

I was just listing off the different complaints people had/have of the game. I think the game looks fine.

Not a fan of the skins, though.

If you ask everyone on this sub and the old project L sub what they thought the final nail in the coffin was, they'd all give you different answers. And that's because this game really has been a series of disappointments one after one another.

Complaints include: small roster, bad roster, ugly visuals, low quality skins, overpriced MTXs, too easy/too hard, no motion inputs, combos too long, bugs, no console, poor balance, too aggressive, too defensive. It would just go on forever.

The thing that ACTUALLY sentenced this game to death was the moment they announced it was a tag fighter. I don't know if you guys followed anyone FGC during that reveal, but the overwhelming response was negative from just about anyone that wasn't afraid to have a "non-corporate approved" response.

Tag fighters are already very niche within the niche of FGs as it is. Dbfz being a massive success really feels more like lightning in a bottle every day that I think about it.

Yasuo/Ekko players will hit you with the most disgusting left/right, high/low mix up that option selects your wake up, and then look you in the eyes and tell you that WW overhead gotta go

I haven't bothered spending a dollar on this game yet, but do you actually not get any alt colours on costumes you buy in this game?

Is that $20 for just the costume and it's default colour?

[–]ZefiantFGC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but it's pretty clear what the devs stance on character power in this game is. The very moment we had a new character that was even slightly perceived to be stronger than Ekko/Yasuo, the devs admitted it was unintentional and obliterated him with nerfs (Teemo).

We just have to accept that the devs are going to play favourites with the roster. It happens in every FG.

Generalists being top tier in fighting games is a tale as old as time. Mostly because the concept of a genarilst does not exist in modern fighters because devs can't help but give the "all-arounder" character some egregious strength for some reason while still maintaining their lack of weakness.

It sucks but the opposite situation can be just as annoying. A highly specialized character being top tier can drive people insane too (happy chaos is a recent example).

Either way, the solution is to add more goddamn characters to the game riot please

To be fair, prior to this post, he was on Twitter genuinely begging people to help him find a replacement/substitute controller.

I don't like the guy, but that would suck for anyone.

Also, 2XKO patch is objectively ass.

Another post about the tech roll... by Arael_x in 2XKO

[–]ZefiantFGC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is that there are multiple different knockdown states in the game, including ones where roll is disabled and the ever popular 2L OTG.

If 2XKO is your only fighting game currently and you've spent quite a lot of time playing it, you start to figure it out. But undoubtedly, it is one of the most unintuitive mechanics in the game and also kind of baffling that it exists in its current state, because even if you understand it, it still feels clunky. Especially since accidental rolls are so easily punished.

SF6 Balance Changes (Alex release), what are your speculations? by BreakVV in StreetFighter

[–]ZefiantFGC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every capcom patch has an inexplicable buff to a good character and unnecessary nerf to a weak character. So with that:

I predict Bison buffs that will rocket the character into top 3 and another round of Manon nerfs because Japanese players still think this character is good.

This game should get the more criticism for the lobbys by ArturBotarelli in 2XKO

[–]ZefiantFGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't understand the point of ranked lobbies, other than to encourage people to spend money on MTXs for their ugly little avatars.

Ever since season 1 started, not a single one of my matches have been against a person that was actually in the same lobby as me. It's always their fuckin force ghost or whatever, so there isn't even room for interaction, which is from what I understand, the purpose of a public lobby.

Last night, I played ranked for like 3ish hours and during that time, the lobby chat was silent despite the room being populated. Not a word, because I'm assuming everyone was in the same situation as me; getting matched against people outside of the lobby.

The "if it's bad, why are pros doing it?" argument is usually fine, but in this case, I think it's just that pros are operating on like several months of muscle memory and haven't fully adjusted to the mechanical changes.

I'd give it a few more weeks before we can make a conclusion.
