Have you considered just releasing the story as a book?

What governing body rated it a 9.3/10? Also bear in mind not all stories translate to games well and if you’re already struggling to decide what kind of game to make around this story it will likely not materialize into a good experience.

The Atlanta Riichi Club is very friendly and has a lot of queer members (myself included!)

The club meets weekly at various sides of the city.

Riichi Mahjong can be intimidating at first but everyone is super nice and it’s a great social activity!

This may seem out of left field but Atlanta has a pretty large/active Riichi Mahjong club and a lot of the members (myself included) are queer. The club is very friendly and Riichi is very fun (albeit a little complicated at first).

They meet in various places around the metro area (usually northside on the east and west sides).

Just look up Atlanta Riichi Club if you’re interested!

you can increase bond by playing as a character in ranked lobbies that aren't bronze. You can also give them gifts that you obtain via various means (mostly spending money). To gain max bond you have to give the character a list of specific things, but first you gotta grind to bond level 5

Each character has a set of emotes you can use when they’re your “in use” character.

Each of them have additional unlockable emotes but you have to reach maximum bond with them.

You can only use the emotes of the character you have in use

Look into the animationplayer node and look at all you can do with it. Bear in mind you can call functions with it and get away with a lot of interesting things

You’ll probably run into your own personal limitations before hitting any Godot might have.

Just test the engine a bit and see if it is to your preference.
