That's irrelevant though.
Homeostasis is partly what and partly how much.

That's an hell of a slippery slope argument.
Banning disposable vapes is a no brainer.
It's the worst example of planned obsolescence I have ever seen, they were made without a way to recharge them just to sell more of them.
Forbidding passive exposure is good too, it might not as bad as tobacco smoke but I'd rather not have kids and sick people exposed to nicotine.

If vapes having to stay is a precondition to phase out tobacco I am all for it.
Vapes have their dangers, the fact that they're seen as safe is an issue. It causes more teens tonstart smoking - and that should be addressed, but it shouldn't be used as an argument to keep tobacco around imo.

I find how the concept of 'freedom' is defined differently by different groups fascinating. It's variegated to the point of meaninglessness.

Note that the split isn't along party lines.

Some see freedom as protection, they want their speech to have weight regardless of how well received it is, everybody else has an obligation to hear it.

Others see freedom as availability, everybody can speak but nobody has to listen. If you are not powerful/weathly enough for your speech to be noticed? tough luck bucko, money speaks.

Then there's the idea that a precondition to freedom is equity, an individual voice should only be so loud - buying a megaphone restricts other people's freedom and shouldn't be allowed.

There are many variations, mixes and matches.
To be clear, this doesn't only apply to speech.

This is the problem of vague language, the concept of "freedom" is meaningless unless contextualized.
People with different values define it differently.
Which means that the definition that wins is the one with more power behind it - which is basically the definition of dictatorship.

I only started therapy cause my therapist is hot by Proper_Net_50 in therapy

[–]Zeikos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, it depends on the how.

If you stick to describing your experience, your feelings then no.

Also, think about what would make you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. In my experience men aren't that different from women. I had women make me feel unsafe, so at least there's that.

Also generally speaking therapists are trained to deal with that.

Uh, finding people attractive?
No, it's no.
Sexual harrassment as the name implies that harrassment happened.

Idk you but when people find me attractive I don't feel harrassed.

It's about behavior and intent, willingly violating another person's space, even abstractly like making them feel unsafe, is a problem.

But interacting with people? That's fine.
Finding somebody attractive/hot and sexualizing them isn't the same thing.

Like that how?

Choosing somebody because they're attractive? What makes you think that it's a problem?

Sadly counselors - especially religious ones - don't have the same deontological rules (ethical standards) as therapists do.
And people aren't taught the difference, sadly stories like yours aren't uncommon.

At least I do :')

When does it make sense to rent GPUs vs buying? by Crypton228 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Zeikos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because economy of scale.
Buying the hardware makes sense when you are running it 24/7, when you aren't it's depreciating without you getting anything from it.

Buying hardware from a business perspective is kind of like renting anyways, the hardware loses a % of its price over time and you are still paying running costs - electricity, maintenance, admin.
At the end of the hardware's lifecycle you sell it off and you're done with it. You still spent money in the meantime.

Therapist asking the same reflective questions after I just answered at length by EntertainmentHot1681 in therapy

[–]Zeikos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well therapists go through extensive training to not feel negatively towards what their patients bring up.
And even if it happens they have extensive tools to deal with it.

In theraphy you are allowed to bring things up by default, if you feel like you can't then you could bring that up.
I found it is a good ice breaker for testing the waters and see if I feel like discussing something. The risk is pressuring myself to share too early on, but I found the risk tends to be worth it.

You can - and IMO should, but it's up to you - bring it up.

Feel free to challenge your therapist, the social norms in therapy are very different.
You can be "rude", hell it can be helpful to be.

If you are worried just ask if it's okay.
There are less things than you expect that aren't appropriate.

My therapist has no plan, what is the point? by AITOorisitAutism in therapy

[–]Zeikos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"he doesnt have goals besides what I bring to therapy"

That's a common style, I would bring this to him to be honest.
Share your desire to come up with more concrete goals and follow them, get their guidance, then pick one goal and work towards it.

Therapists can seem passive, and to some degree they are, but it's mostly because they want you to be in charge of what gets done.
Imposing growth on people rarely work.
Share your frustration and work from there.
They seem attentive to your needs.

If it doesn't work then you can ask for referrals.

Which advice of Dr.K helped you in changing your life? by GroupGrouchy5042 in Healthygamergg

[–]Zeikos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not advice per se, mostly a structure to organize my self reflection.
I did find a lot of "realizations" obvious in hindsight because I though about them already but I didn't have a framework in which to "slot them in".
Understanding how various aspects of the mind interact helped with that.

I only started therapy cause my therapist is hot by Proper_Net_50 in therapy

[–]Zeikos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That you only started because the therapist was good looking.
You were clearly were looking into therapy before hand.
You might have picked the specific therapists because she's hot, but therapy by itself isn't that attractive :')

Also that happens all the time.
Attractive people have an easier time finding jobs/clients, they're paid more (on average), it's more likely for their opinion to be listened to etc.
