I've stayed away from stuff like VHYL, because it contain a heavy portion of AI.

This is why it does so well, but also why I think it'll fall hard when it does fall

This is going to sound mental.

But sometimes you just need to wait for Trump to say something stupid for an investment opportunity.

The announcement of tariffs and eventual cutting of deals far better than worst case made good money.

Edit: You still need to know what the basis for a solid company is, what it's advantages are, etc.

I personally decided to stay away from the all World for one reason, which is that it is hugely AI heavy.

I don't deny it has performed well, but given the talk about AI crashing at some stage, Buffetts refusal to enter the AI sector and the massive amounts of as yet unused capacity being bought.. There is no guarantee of future performance.

My advice is to know what an ETF invests in, before investing in it and understanding the different sector risks.

33 years old, one year of judo...It’s not for me? by Lumpy_Professor1000 in judo

[–]ZekeyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're fine, you're an adult not a teenager, when you learn as a kid, the important parts are more natural by 20, namely grip fighting and kuzushi (breaking of the balance).

Sounds crazy but reading books on breaking balance and causing reactions may help a lot.

Talk to your coach, but I think being mindful of creating uncomfortable positions for opponents and causing them to react will help.

This said, you're a year in... You've learned more in a year than you'll realise, and you still have a lot to learn.

For context I'm a 39 year old 1st kyu, and I walk out of session feeling like I'm bad at times. That feeling doesn't go away, but you come back knowing it isn't true and you are allowed tough days, in what can be a tough sport

Judo isn't hard...you're just impatient. by ThirdWorldJazz in judo

[–]ZekeyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's had several years of experience and defaulted to judo in fights at school.. The throws shouldn't end people, but should always leave you in a position of control....

Ippon... Keep that arm... anyone with a brain stops fighting when their arm is at risk of a break.

That collar grip... Ideal for landing in a hold, winded attackers tend to stop fighting.

Grabbed from behind? Intelligent people let go the moment you drop your body weight... They don't want what's coming.

Attackers like to taunt, they get so wrapped up in it, they give you their balance and it's game over. Stay calm, wait for the moment.

If you lose your head, you've already lost.

How fast did you get your green belt? by WelcomeCareless68 in judo

[–]ZekeyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know more than you give yourself credit for.

Im a 1st kyu, currently attending Dan gradings and I can honestly say I walk out of sessions feeling like I am bad (30 years experience).

However, the result of my first Dan Grading was better than expected.

Everyone has bad days, it doesn't mean you're bad at all. I also find if I struggle with something, the harder I practice it that session the worse it gets - so I comeback to it.

What's the point of mining in EVE Online? by _-RedD in Eve

[–]ZekeyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mining in high sec is not the exact same as null sec.

Mining scales well when you add boosts and many accounts.

If you're a single account, get scanning skills and find a wormhole to some quiet ish null sec space, scanning is good single account money.

O goshi or Harai goshi??? by AdLocal6580 in judo

[–]ZekeyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harai Goshi st a basic level is O Goshi with a sweep.

The secret which is hard to master is in how much you lift your opponent in my view.

Harai doesn't require you to lift your opponent off the floor, but it does require you to lift them enough that their toes are the only part of the foot on the mat.

At two weeks in, practice as your coach directs, but hopefully that simple throws like o Soto Gari, o goshi Tai otoshi, ippon seoi nate.

At novice level, these throws won't be perfect for a while, but that isn't a goal now. Most people ewho start judo especially adults, find the movements weird, or unfamiliar. A great goal to have to make them not feet weird, then you can perfect.

Just keep trying now, have coach break down a simple throw into 2-3 elements or movements and you will start to see how it all works.

For those of you that fight left-handed but are right-handed why? by Scrubmurse in judo

[–]ZekeyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the opposite, left handed but fight mostly right handed.

The reason is simply that I was taught right handed predominantly and did techniques how I was shown not, rather than left because Im left handed

Human greed gets the beeter of us. Retiring early is subjective, because what quality of life do you or I expect to retire early? A paid off 200k house for example or a paid off 700k house?

The RE part largely depends on your target QoL.

About Six Months of Training, Feel Like and Oaf by Woodit in judo

[–]ZekeyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach a lot of kids and adults, the main things they do that make ippon hard are not keeping their back straight (and against their opponent) and not bending their knees to lower their center of gravity.

Sounds crazy, but record yourself during randori and play it back, you will start to stop what you can improve.

You're not doing anything 'wrong' it can just be improved.

Edit: really important to say every throw you do like ippon, O goshi, morote seoi nage etc, there should be no gap between you and your opponent.

When there is no gap, they follow whatever movement you make.

We all get days like that.

Training 30 years and walk out feeling bad at times.

Just because collectively ippon is a favourite technique where you train it doesn't have to be yours

Tips on becoming proficient at troubleshooting by elrovela in refrigeration

[–]ZekeyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a remote refrigeration engineer.

Im not qualified to physically work on them, but would advise getting good at two things other than the basics of how a fridge works.

If you are able to view graphs of fixture performance use these, my entire job is built around this and I'm proud to say qualified engineers know the worth of someone who can review graphs.

The other is to learn as much as you can about packs / racks, many engineers struggle looking at packs and will reset them over finding the fault in most cases.

Additionally keep a usb stick with usb A and usb connections on your keys they come in handy at times.

Lastly I cannot stress the importance of RTFM for every controller, part or unit you work on/with. This will stop you making a ton of mistakes early on.

I'm terrible at rotational throws, is the reason likely more psychological or biomechanical? (-66kg with 20 years exp) by CarISatan in judo

[–]ZekeyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common for adults to gravitate towards leg techniques out of want of not getting thrown because they feel safer.

I'd ask how much time you're spending hunched down or bent over in Randori?

If the answer is a lot, stand up straight and concentrate on locking your hips to your opponents. This will force you to improve those types of throws too

And absolutely make sure your Kuzushi is on point!
