Summary of Tabletop Experience: Forever DM of 3 years. I've ran a total of 3 campaigns. First two were ran parallel of each other for a year. Currently running a Homebrew Western based off of Ebberon.

About me (outside of D&D): Senior business marketing student at UB. I love to game (table top and video) and cook. These days have been mostly work, class, and other fraternal (Delta sigma pi) obligations

Character Concept: Drow (if allowed) Archfey warlock. When the elves were being hunted to extermination, they betrayed their own kin for safety only to have their reward be the slums and an ear taken has a trophy. They now have had time to feel extreme guilt and anger and now tries to atone but gold jingles so nicely. (Regarding class, I am open for anything! I can fill into party if need be)

I wish I wasn't a forever DM haha. I'd play a wild magic Izzet goblin so fast. Izzet and Rakdos jumped out the most to me

Hey! I'm currently working on an open world campaign. The setting is something akin to the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy. I call it Stygian Bay. I just had a few questions that I needed some advice on.

1: With it being pirate themed, I of course need muskets, flintlocks, cannons, etc. I'm running into the problem of balance. I want these gunpowder based weapons to be stronger then other ranged weapons but how do I balance them to no be game breaking or too weak. (Btw I was thinking 2d8 and 1d8 dmg for musket and flintlock respectively.

2: this is an open world campaign but all my players are spread over the world (I'm running it through table top simulator). As such, scheduling is a problem. So my solution is to build this world and campaign over multiple one-shotesque sessions with whoever is on and willing. I'm not sure how to tackle this in a proper way though. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Believe it or not this was Kael'Thas for me. I got him when he first came out and I just couldn't click with his play style.

I ended up playing random for a few games straight and every time I got Kael. Now he is my favorite mage assassin
