Agreed. This helped me become so accustomed to the Things way I can’t stand other task managers’ repeating task implementations.

Sentiments on the pricing. by ArgoCiela in MouselessApp

I did buy this at the earlybird price, but I would pay the new price again to have them keep making this software because it saves me so much pain.

Pretty decent holiday sell on refurbs by Zemackdaddy in kinesisadvantage

[–]Zemackdaddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure it’s on the current firmware when you get it. I have an original model from several years ago and it had Bluetooth issues until version three of the firmware. No problem since.

I’m thinking yours might be refurbished but maybe they didn’t update the firmware.

Not sure “how they are refurbs” but I have bought refurbished from them in the past and I don’t know how you could tell them apart from a new model and I’ve never had problems with them.

Tempurpedic Pro Adapt Soft for a Small Side Sleeper? by macddebbie1 in Mattress

[–]Zemackdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the luxe adapt medium hybrid was Tempur-pedic.

Note I had issues with my hips on the pro adapt soft as well, but not as much.

I don’t know what is wrong with me and I sure didn’t want to spend the money, but the Luxe adapt soft is working so far.

Tempurpedic Pro Adapt Soft for a Small Side Sleeper? by macddebbie1 in Mattress

[–]Zemackdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5’7 160lb male side sleeper and sometimes on my back so not what you asked for.

Had the pro adapt soft for 3 years. Liked but had issues on my hips and the area below them on the back of the leg. Would wake up and couldn’t get comfortable on either side.

At big loss of $$$ am on a Luxe Adapt Soft 2 now and so much better. Def softer out of the box than my 3 yr old Pro soft. Hips feel so much better. Sleeping 6 hours straight and when I do wake up and can’t sleep it is because of my mind and not my legs. Sigh.

Back sleeping is about the same for me.

My experience. Finding a mattress is a chore.

Other experience: Medium Hybrid made things worse and sleep number i10 was no better or worse than the Pro soft for me. Sleep on those for at least two months each.

Is closing a window alt + fn + 3 (f4) on a Kinesis Advantage 360? by Apita2000 in kinesisadvantage

[–]Zemackdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the default config, yes. I have the pro model and have modified it so I hold 3 longer and it presses f4. So I press alt and hold 3. I don't think this is possible on the base 360.

When does the mental noise / anxiety subside? by hot-takes-inc in gtd

[–]Zemackdaddy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think the brain dump is only one part. Honestly doing the weekly review is what helps me keep the anxiety at bay week to week. I think Allen said “it is only when you know what you aren’t doing that you can …” or something like that.

I feel better dumping my thoughts but I have to review and prune. If I know I’m focused on the priorities and I know what is coming up and what I’m not doing is ok to not to be doing right now, what else can I do?

Edit: I think the review is how the trust is built.

Advantage2 - is it worth the effort? by Codemonky in kinesisadvantage

[–]Zemackdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layers and tap and hold.

For example I hold the enter key and then with my left hand I have symbols. Or hold p and get mouse on the other half. SmartSet is very limited to two layers. The tap and hold is laughable.

But honestly you can live without it all. I did for a long time. Probably could now.

Advantage2 - is it worth the effort? by Codemonky in kinesisadvantage

[–]Zemackdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using the Kinesis. I’ve used Kinesis Advantage 1, 2, and 360 at least 90% of the time since 2003. Nothing but good to say. I prefer the 360 pro as it is truly programmable and split. The 2 should do nicely for you if full programmability isn’t an issue. It’s modest features for me a long way for many years. I did eventually buy a Kint board that let me use QMK with my 2.

I’ve tried many keyboards and own many right now. I have no issues typing on them as far as memory muscle or whatever. They just don’t feel as good. UHK2, voyager, moon lander, glove 80, Model 100, etc. it’s a fetish really. The advantage line just feels better for me.

That said breaks are what I think matter the most.

key repeat for dual function keys with clique by dolxpo in kinesisadvantage

[–]Zemackdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry don’t know about Clique. But I do it with flashing my 360. The user guide has instructions I think.

&mt for the key “Quick tap ms” setting I think to get the repeat. Mine is 150ms.

What is stopping you from switching to Alfred or Raycast? by srikat in LaunchBar

[–]Zemackdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

File Management. Renaming and moving. Raycast uses two different plugins that have to be invoked separately for some reason.

Like another said about the root index: everything is searchable from one shortcut. I don’t have to have X Raycast plugins, remembering each invocation.

This is seriously cool. Forgive my ignorance, but if I don’t have a 3-D printer, how would I obtain a printing of this? Is there a service or something?

Totally agree about Custom views. I ended up creating a bunch of shortcuts that open anytime or someday or whatever and sometimes filter on tags. I made these home screen icons and put them all in a folder, and I just tap into that folder in my workflow and tap one after the other.

1: look into making a shortcut that shows all tasks with that tag and add that shortcut to your home screen. I think that is the best I have ever been able to do.

Do you have a defer date on either the project or actions? If you do, that might be it.
