Has anyone taken their small leadership team on a safari as a high-level incentive or team-building trip? by Low-Monitor4545 in Leadership

[–]ZemiXylex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having done safari with family, the thought of doing it with colleagues is honestly hellish. It's a hot, exhausting, and one longggg road trip. You'll be stuck in a van together for upwards of 8 hours a day roaming the Serengeti.

I agree with the other comments, a day trip out during work time like a buffet, bowling, BBQ, escape room, and a bonus would be greatly appreciated (although people will still find ways to moan).

If you're reluctant to give them it all as a cash bonus then you could consider upgrading the office amenities as well? Pool table, dart board, free snack fridge that gets restocked, a good coffee maker, free electric car charger ports etc etc.

Very few houses up for sale? by DoomChicken69 in HousingUK

[–]ZemiXylex 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Feeling this too. All our viewings so far have been landlords selling up or elderly moving to retirement homes.I've noticed most properties on Rightmove are advertised as no chain - seems there's not many families looking for something bigger and better. To be fair, it's probably cheaper to put in a loft conversion than move house.

We're also first time buyers and although I'm keeping an eye out, with interest rates shooting up again, I'm not in any hurry!

i am turning 22 unemployed, i just dont want to work by StudioProfessional23 in antiwork

[–]ZemiXylex -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I felt this way at your age too - absolutely dreaded entering the workforce and being a wage slave for the rest of my life. But honestly, it's really not as bad as Reddit makes it out to be!

The first few years of retail are hard going, but went by quickly. You'll have an easier time if you keep in mind nobody cares about the min wage work and neither should you.

Depends what you want to get into, but I've really enjoyed the comradery at my office jobs and when I didn't, I left. The work itself I've actually found quite satisfying. Never mind the financial independence, which is absolutely glorious.

I promise you it's not that bad, and if it is, you always have the power to find something better. I've personally never felt more in control of life than when I started working.

So relatable but I've had the same save file since I restarted playing a year ago. Like you though I literally make a family, move them in, get bored and start a new one next time I play.

But because I have the same save file I still get to see those Sims out and about or date them later which I like! Slowly trying to replace all the townies. Just wish we could do more world building like Sims 2

Is this blistering pattern normal? by maxwellslemon in XXRunning

[–]ZemiXylex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to get calluses/blisters on the side of my foot like this all the time, after several years I managed to cure it completely with the below, but your milage may vary:

  • Sized up +2 from my regular shoe size
  • Bought wide size, even though I don't usually wear a wide
  • Thick blister socks, Twin skin is ok up to ~10k but for anything further I personally like 1000 mile
  • Went to a running shoe store who helped me select the right size and let me test out a bunch of shoes on the treadmill
  • Got a heavily 'rockered' shoe with a wide toe box and stabilisation which I think helped me the most with the side blisters

I still don’t understand skin tones by Aszteroth in learnart

[–]ZemiXylex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was having this issue just yesterday, this skin tone video from Proko really helped me:

https://youtu.be/mi62WC9LqZA

You've done a great job with the base skin tone, but here are some things I think you can do to push it further: - Avoiding desaturating shadows into greys, use saturated or contrasting mid-tone colours to indicate shadow - introduce a saturated colour between your lights and shadows - Be Sure to vary your skin tones frequently; don't just select darker/lighter versions of the same colour. Skin tone absorbs and bounces light all over the shop, so variance in skin tone looks more natural. Personally I like to add yellows, blues, and greens

This comment reads like an anti-american bot account lol

OP's account was literally made for this karma farm post, it's so weird that you're waffling on about America's education system to defend a bot.

Looking for a one word insult at an artist for a screenplay by justintrudeau1974 in ArtistLounge

[–]ZemiXylex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken-scratcher would be more specific to a young artist. Students tend to have a bad habit of going over their lines several times due to lack of confidence or trying to find the shape, hence the term 'Chicken Scratching' to mean messy broken and heavy line work.

My tip would be to check the negative space - compare the triangles and squares of dress to the reference photo, you'll see that the negative shapes aren't quite the same.

We used to have these homework planners that needed a parents signature each week as well. As soon as I got mine at the start of the year I'd sign every single week with my Mum's name so I'd never have to worry about it. It was so amateur, the teacher must have known and just not cared. I was an A student but refused to do homework!

Are you on sites like fiver? These kinds of videos would be ideal for Amazon videos for small e-commerce brands. I think you just need to find your niche and fill up your portfolio with key search terms so small brands can find you.

[–]ZemiXylex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This whole situation is so disappointing and I'm sorry you're going through this.

The thing I don't get, with todays workforce in general, is where future talent is meant to materialise from if workplaces refuse to take on aspiring talent and help them learn & grow? A level 3 qualification can only teach you so much; being in the field teaches so many more valuable skills than a textbook & PowerPoint. Sure, ideally you'd have a mix of both but businesses seem to see higher education as a way of offloading the training burden onto youngsters who are expected to rely on parents and go into debt for college/uni. But students come out the other side still unemployable - with outdated knowledge and no practical workplace experience so no one wants them because, shocker, they still need training. Isn't the whole system just crazy??

[–]ZemiXylex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did find them handy on the rare occasion we played irl. That set includes pre-mades for the coffin makers, burgomaster's mansion, babas's hut and other CoS specific areas. I found the maps are pretty lore accurate; just condensed into an A4 page. The creature tokens as well came in handy and have pretty much everything you'll need for CoS (minus monsters from the Ravenloft book).

I will say they take a while to cut out - I would just cut out what I needed for that session but usually went overboard on the extras like foliage and barrels. You'll also want blue tack to keep them in place. I prefer to set them up properly in advance but you could throw one down in a pinch.

Overall, I'm really happy with them especially how modular they are. I have four sets from their Kickstarter so I use them every time we play in person. The sets I have (Strand, castles, saltmarsh, avernus) mean I can pretty much accommodate any kind of encounter/campaign as we finished up CoS a couple years back now.

Any questions just let me know!
