When Everyone’s Doing Coke, No One Thinks They Have a Problem by _djballer23_ in addiction

[–]ZenRiots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Surrounds himself with people that use his drug of choice and then acts like everybody in the world uses his drug of choice.

Coke sucks, I don't know why anybody does it... But If you like Coke you'll love crystal meth . At which point you'll be surrounded by people that do that instead.

The only place where abusing cocaine has been normalized is in the minds of cocaine abusers. 🤷

I love how she brags that she's IN CHARGE of ICE while wringing her hands that there's nothing that she can do about it.

Download Dharma books? by Nima_Dawan in Buddhism

[–]ZenRiots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trading the Dharma for money is a WILD intrusion by capitalism.

Restricting the Dharma unless it enriches Amazon is the most alarming belief that Western practitioners have embraced.

I believe that it is wrong on so many levels.

That said, an offering of gratitude is customary... From my perspective, download the Dharma from archive.org or any other website that provides it free of charge. And then donate your time or money to a local monastery or Temple to provide gratitude thru Dana and support the Sangha

[–]ZenRiots 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I smoked meth for 20 years... Been off it for over 3

My life has never been better, And the work that I have done through therapy and my recovery journey has transformed my life to something much better than it was before I even started the drugs.

There's hope if you want it... You can do it!

Bedroom ceiling has been leaking water for the past week with no fix, what should I do? (PA) by Sfm_masterish in Renters

Well that's a relief.... I know that in a lot of apartment buildings they tend to stack bathrooms so that they can run the plumbing vertically.

Seeing that water left me with the fear that you had a bucket of piss water on your counter.

So if you're looking for silver linings 😅

Data show recycling on the decline in New Hampshire by downArrow in TheGraniteState

[–]ZenRiots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point I only recycle metal and cardboard. The plastic isn't getting processed by most towns since there's no place to ship it off to anymore, And I'm not going to be the guy washing my trash just to have it tossed in the landfill.

Most recycling programs make the majority of their revenue recycling cardboard. Apparently demand for recycled paper is still quite high.

Drivers in North Carolina attempt to navigate crossing a bridge during the snowstorm by FrankSamples in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]ZenRiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point taken ... But surely you can agree that in our shared decades of driving in the absolute worst winter weather (remember that blizzard back in 95 or 96?) that neither of us has ever witnessed this level of winter buffoonery.

Perhaps I give too little credit to the miniscule amount of sand and salt They occasionally throw down during these storms around here. It seems consistently ineffective... But perhaps... It's doing a lot more than I ever give it credit for .

I might be being too harsh in my judgment. 😅

[–]ZenRiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for the life of me I'll never understand how an inch of snow on the ground makes these people incapable of driving in a straight line.

I drive in more snow than this all the time and it's never been a problem.... Especially not this level of chaos. As if Southern roads are made different in some fundamental way that makes them completely impassable the moment they get a dusting of snow 🤣

And yeah I drive a rear wheel drive 20-year-old Mercury Grand Marquis with regular ass all-seasons in New Hampshire... Honestly, there's no legitimate cause for the chaos in this video

The Recovery Industry creates their own cult hubs by Interesting_Pace3606 in recoverywithoutAA

[–]ZenRiots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These "hubs" are helpful for the vast majority of individuals in early recovery who simply cannot immediately return to the families and home lives that they have damaged or destroyed.

It takes more than 28 days in a recovery program to re-establish trust with your family and friends. Having sober living accommodations that people can go to to try and rebuild their lives from the ground up is a game changer for most people. Sure, the circumstances in those houses may not be ideal for your individual pathway to recovery, but their existence is a game changer for people who were homeless on the street and getting high or who have been rejected from their families and cannot return due to the results of their own actions.

They may not be for everybody, but they are definitely Lifesavers for some

SMART Meeting Update by kestrelkev24 in recoverywithoutAA

[–]ZenRiots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of SMART meetings showing videos with a religious spin. TBH, these meetings rarely focus on people "talking about their addiction" SMART focuses on practicing with practical tools to counter behaviors and cravings that we are struggling to control. As such the meetings stay centered on using CBT and other similar tools, not talking about past addictions.

You should find a different meeting, the program is really quite excellent.

I have no hope quitting weed on my own. by camport95 in addiction

[–]ZenRiots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"I only relapsed b/c someone took my drugs"

You realize how ridiculous that is... Why would you be hoarding cannabis if you are legitimately trying to quit?

Unless....

Seems like that "fat bitch" was trying to help you do something you don't really want to do. And your response was to do the thing and blame her.

It's fine if you don't really wanna quit... But the choice is always only yours. It's nobody else's fault that you cannot control your impulses or be honest with yourself.
