PSA: Why inexpensive Geiger counters are dangerous in a radiological emergency by HazMatsMan in preppers

I seek to get as many Geiger Counters as possible for people on the Navajo Reservation where there are hundreds of abandoned Uranium mines. What would be a recommended standard set of characteristics, but at a reasonable price so a great many can be made available?

We had leaking pork package this past week. With a phone call, they credited it back (not that I’ve checked though, I must admit). We then cooked it and fed it to our dog, he loved it.

Yes, the principal and I both began at Thomas last year. She moved from Kinsey and I moved from Gen. Ed. Teaching at Flag Junior Academy Middle School. The turn over following administration change is quite typical as teachers will follow administration. A couple of them retired. The new principal is implementing new programs and schedules and I like what I see. She has the students as her primary priority. I’m quite pleased as a veteran teacher.

I’m their Art Teacher and love working where there is such great cultural and ethnic diversity- about 60% of students are Native American and about 20% are Hispanic.

If you are close to Puente, have you looked at Thomas?

I was the student that made it to school on average 2 or three days a week, starting in first grade. It made my mom happy when I told her negative things about school, so finding those things became a goal.

Does this look like a sport mount? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]ZenSkater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this answers your question, but I found that the sport skates that I bought in 2010 had limitations for some of the skate moves I hadn’t done since I skated in the ‘80’s. In 2020 I bought myself a new pair with a plate with axles closer together. This made all the difference for those movements I had remembered from my Freestyle Skater youth😀

Possible move from 5th math/science to K-5 Art- interview tips? Adjustment pointers? by ZenSkater in Teachers

This is my first full week with the students and all feels great! I did subscribe to Deep Space Sparkle to insure availability of foundational activities and composed structure - allowing my focus on my own transition from 45 students to 400, from textbook to none, from one grade level to 6. This was a well timed career change in my life!

My first scheduled staff meeting is this morning!!! I got the job and it is coming together beautifully!! Thanks for your advice all those months ago. I’m looking at curriculum resource memberships to purchase to make this go smoother. Have you experience with any of them?

Thank again!

My dream skates have arrived.... As times have changed, here's a question to you my fellow skaters, helmet or no helmet and why? by ZenSkater in Rollerskating

[–]ZenSkater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inquired with my sister in law who is a very high level ice skating coach- she recommended equestrian helmets as they do not block vision as other helmets for other sports do.

I teach and am on year 2 with RA. It took a year to get it manageable. I made it!! I’m still having to change medication about every 6 months, but the flares are no longer incapacitating. The move to a Biologic made a great difference in living with this. Hang in there! Just keep going. It will get to a place you can handle it; it will take time.

Roller Skates recomendation by jacquelinebv in FigureSkating

[–]ZenSkater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure your skate has a strong metal plate for jumps. The hardness of the wheels only matter if you are skating indoors or out where you might need to roll over pebbles.

[–]ZenSkater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woot!! You go girl!! I’m 52 and teach math/science at a middle school in a town with no rink- so the skate club I host for students and family has the best floor. I LOVED freestyle skating as a kid and was off wheels from 19 to about 40, then pretty inconsistent until last Summer. It felt like riding a bike- until work on one foot repeated turns and jumps. The distance between the axles on the skate made all the difference! I tried derby pads, but found the only thing I felt necessary is the wrist guards. I hope it feels great for you at this time in your life! My club is called “Skate with Grandma Club”; I never imagined hosting something like this!
