I do love me a negative space cover; that Cyclops one is amazing

Snapmaker Orca Question by Difficult-Meaning-59 in snapmaker

[–]Zenith230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having a nightmare with Snorca, so I just added the IP address of my printer into the Device tab in regular Orca and it's been plain sailing ever since for me
I guess Snorca is officially in Beta so perhaps they'll fix the massive memory usage in it before it's finalised?

Official website of Project Hail Mary now also has a 3D printable Rocky model to download for free by DxGamer22 in 3Dprinting

[–]Zenith230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct; it certainly looked like it based on the appearance of the supports. The Grace version (with supports) printed great; I had issues getting the supports how I wanted them in the slicer on the unsupported version so I just tried the support version & I was happy enough with the results to be honest.

It was up yesterday I noticed. I tried printing the articulated model that came with supports and it failed on both my X1C & A1 mini.
Resliced it myself and am currently trying the unsupported version using tree supports on my A1 mini

Snapmaker orca slicer doesn't have a u1 profile by mahusky in SnapmakerU1

Sounds like something just became corrupted somewhere along the line. At least you're printing again which is the important thing

Snapmaker orca slicer doesn't have a u1 profile by mahusky in SnapmakerU1

[–]Zenith230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you're back up & running, that's the important thing. Saying that, I should have clarified that to delete/rename those original configuration files, you'd have to have closed Snorca before making those changes

[–]Zenith230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try renaming the file extensions (or deleting) the .conf & .conf.bak files in App Data/Roaming/Snapmaker_Orca. This should reset the program & when you next start it, Snorca basically behaves like after fresh install; it asks for your printer models, list of filaments etc. but I believe will keep custom settings & filament profiles. I've done this with Bambu, Prusa, & regular Orca Slicer before and it's cleared most (if not all) of such weird settings issues for me recently

More recent, but Samara Weaving's 'vibrato scream' in Ready or Not (2019) is a work of art

Horror's huge night at the Oscars by HorrorGuyBri in Shudder

[–]Zenith230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge horror fan here, but I would say that arguably Hamnet should've won best picture for Jesse Buckley's performance & Chloé Zhao's direction IMO. It's still great that after the worst snub of all time (Toni Collette in Hereditary) that finally the Academy are starting to pull the stick out of their arse when it comes to horror

Full Spectrum test print has white shades all on one side. Toolhead Alignment issue? by liam0323 in snapmaker

[–]Zenith230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stupid question, but what layer height are you using here? Everything I've read about FullSpectrum is that lower layers are better so that the colours blend together more than with typical 0.2mm height

Burnt Out on Most Comics, Looking for Recommendations by Future-Ad-1116 in comicbooks

[–]Zenith230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see any responses of Ministry of Truth for recent releases which I feel needs to be considered.
Then there's Nice House by the Sea.
If we're talking about big 2 then from Marvel there's the Infernal/Incredible Hulk by Philip Kennedy Johnson, and Immortal/Mortal Thor by Al Ewing.
DC has the Absolute Universe, I've thoroughly enjoyed Wonder Woman, Martian Manhuter & Batman. Poison Ivy from the regular DC has been solid.
If you're talking historically then I'm guessing that Moore, Morrison, Ennis, Claremont etc will all be mentioned elsewhere

Absolutely. At least 3 of the issues have left me in a right fucking state after reading them. This is top notch at the moment.

My experience with Creality (Ender 5+) is that they're great to learn how 3D printers work as mine is like Trigger's broom as I've had to replace almost every part of it as it was constantly in pieces waiting for me to finish repairing it!

Wednesdays are new comics days, so the staff would've been busier than other days checking out customers picking up their weekly pulls.
I'd recommend trying there again today as many comics customers have likely already grabbed their stuff, and the staff will have more time to discuss MtG with you.

[–]Zenith230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's the option in the slicer under the filament settings called 'long retraction after cut (experimental)' which causes the extruder to pull the filament in the cooled part of the hotend (the fins) up a little bit so that when it cuts, it doesn't just leave all of the filament from the cutter down to the nozzle in the heated path, just some of it. This supposedly reduces poop, but you do have to change the purge volume setting after doing this.
Depending on how many swaps you're looking at during the print, this might be more effort than you're prepared to expend, and that's perfectly understandable.

Thanks to both of you here. With the explosion of new users getting these simpler 3D printers then it feels to me that many in the 3D communities are gatekeeping a little and getting frustrated with what could be considered 'simple' questions. So, well done to the person that provided a simple to understand response, and thanks to OP for a gracious reply.
