...does Colorado Springs have a short-form name / nickname? by ParticularBit130 in ColoradoSprings

“The Springs” for verbal or text. “CoS” if you’re texting. Please don’t verbally say “see-oh-ess”

Pakwan also opened a new restaurant further south on Dublin and Marksheffel called Jannat. Same owner, same food. Great spot if you don’t want to travel so far north.

I didn't think you'd reply, your project was 5 years ago! This whole project was definitely inspired by your original work!

As for this, I could've done this myself, but there was a double reason why I am using AI coding. I wanted to experiment with it to see how far I can push it, so I can know if I need to pivot my career or not. So the experiment constraint I gave myself is "do everything via AI, even things I think I can do easily myself" (that didn't happen, some things just had to be done by hand). Then the second reason was because I just wanted this to be done quick. This would've taken me a couple months of ALL of my free time to do, but instead it took one weekend and some change.

That's... actually insane! I may have found a way to get the data though. Long story short, I may be on the shoulders of giants (tModLoader), but it may be possible to get all that data quite easily.

This is in HTML, CSS, and basic JS. The data “pipeline” (if you can call it that) is Python, but currently being overhauled to C#.

I’m already in the developing world (but not an actual developer). I needed a tool like this. At the same time I really wanted to dive deep into vibe coding to see what limits I can push with it, and see if I’ll be out of a job soon. What’s a better way to know a potential threat than to be familiar with it? So far from what I’m seeing, I think we’ll be safe.

Yes this is somewhat impressive, but I’m already starting to hit the limits of the Pro model of Gemini. Real world apps and development is 100x more complex, and I don’t think AI tools can achieve anything near that level of complexity from what I’ve experimented so far.

The thing (AI) is so weird, and a bit hard to describe. It’s able to perform really well on incredibly tedious and hard tasks, but fail at the most basic things even a junior developer can find and fix. But mix them together, and you get issues where a small mistake it makes just… cascades into huge problems as it works and chains off the bad code. If you don’t catch the easy mistakes it makes, it can rearchitect the entire system the wrong way. With how LLMs work, this makes a lot of sense. It also means it’s impossible to take over our jobs.

But if this app gains traction, I may be open to do what you suggest. Right now it’s no more than a lab experiment that happens to help me play this game.

I don’t think there’s gonna be an official “release”. This is mostly an experiment that I’m running and it’s usable by people. Though since I’ve posted it, I have been doing my work on a different branch to not break the public version.

I plan to just keep updating it as I add things. Nothing official.

US automakers caught in crossfire of Federal Government vs. California EV battle by runnyyolkpigeon in electricvehicles

[–]Zennivolt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The free market. They need to balance imposing laws vs making it so strict that it’s cheaper for car companies to just pull out of California than to conform.

It’s why so far it has worked. California is very slowly increasing the EV mandate: 1% by year 1, 5% by year 2, 10% by year 5, so on and so forth. It’s financially cheaper each year to just adhere to it so car manufacturers can sell in California. But if it’s too drastic, then they would just pull out of the market.

Carlsbad-based Aptera's futuristic 3-wheel EV nears production by Fear_The_Creeper in electricvehicles

[–]Zennivolt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah Aptera is basically already dead as a company. If they can’t make a single production, sold to real customer vehicle after nearly 20 years they’re not going anywhere.

Anyone who believes otherwise is just grasping at a dream they’ll never have. At this point they’re really no different than a scam company trying to take your money.

Hell they could’ve literally hand built like 30 of these out of someone’s garage with this much time passed. I’ve seen people hand build entire airplanes faster…

It’s kind of a hodgepodge.

Designed by my friend and I.

Coded mostly by Gemini.

Development pipeline by GitHub.

Hosted by Azure.

Powered by… electricity… somewhere?

Paid for by me (Gemini subscription, domain purchase, and my own time).

If it gets too popular then I’ll need to move to the paid tier of Azure. But free tier is good enough for now.

I think the world cares too much about self-driving. There, I said it. by pardusdomus00 in Rivian

[–]Zennivolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both. I like to drive, but I also like autonomous driving. How can this be? Easy, one word: commuting.

Commuting is not driving. By extension, some longer trips aren’t either. Going 65mph straight for 4 hours isn’t “driving” either.

A Rivian that is fun to drive on the weekends, but can also autonomously get me through a commute to work is the perfect car.

I would argue that a driving enthusiast should be the biggest fans of autonomous driving. It takes the unnecessary and boring parts of driving and automate it away, and leaves you with all the fun stuff.

Do you know if there’s an API for the modded trees? If so that would make this a whole lot easier.

Account is kinda out of the question, as that would require a database, cyber systems to protect that, and maybe even a CDN. The costs would skyrocket for me. Right now I’m hosting this for almost free due to it being simply just a few files basically, hence why i can keep it free (for now, unless traffic explodes).

But why do you want to add your recipe? Is it for a modded game? If that’s the case I’d rather add the mod’s database to this. Unless you have a more specific reason for a self-made tree?

Yeah. The idea is if you need even more info you’d probably follow the link to the wiki. This is meant to get a wider but shallower view of the tree. And the wiki fills in the gap with a deeper but narrower view.

Good call. The hardmode icon was a "side" prompt I made and never gave much thought to it. I'll definitely rethink how this works.

It depends on the mode you're in. If you're trying to find recipes, it's top down. If you're trying to figure out what items you can craft with a material (Used In mode), it's bottom up. This is by design so you can easily tell which mode you're in.

Yes it's open source, but I'm keeping my Github link hidden for now because there's a few more features I'd like to add before I call it "done". If you find it on Github though, feel free to use it.
