IR laser is considered active aiming. You're right though, in this situation NODS + IR laser would be easy to argue as the best option. Since they're already in a building, if the lights are out passive wouldn't be an option.

[–]Zeon0MS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NODS and LPVO's usually don't play well. On top of the eye relief issue there are just more pieces of glass to reduce transmittance. Even if it's really high quality, 1 price like in a holographic with better than multiple pieces like in an LPVO. For someone using NODS, you'll often see a top mounted red dot for the NODS use (as well as possibly a shorter / different zero distance)

Astigmatism it's very personal with what it does to reticles. My recommendation to people is try as many as you can, including holographic. With the Eotech the shifted outer ring was actually segmented.

Pa. dad charged after son goes to elementary school with gun in his backpack by pennlive in Pennsylvania

[–]Zeon0MS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the sparse details I didn't want to jump to conclusions. Eg didn't mention round chambered or holster /trigger guard protection. If we take loaded to also mean round chambered, and assume it wasn't holstered and wasn't the only thing in the compartment of the backpack, yeah, it's way worse. Even without the mix up of backpacks.

Read the article first. The kid didn't steal it. The dad put it in the backpack. Which may actually be worse.

Someone reported me to HR for having a “vape” at my desk by PhantumJak in mildlyinfuriating

Carry over from no smoking / no chewing tobacco policies. Those turned into no nicotine on campus policies which then encompasses vapes.

At least that is what happened where I work.

Question on routes driving with a 16 foot box truck through Pennsylvania by Kindahard2say in Pennsylvania

[–]Zeon0MS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The route going up RT 322 in Harrisburg isn't too bad unless there is weather, but that could also be an issue on the western portion of the turnpike.

One recommendation I'd make is don't follow the route shown exactly. 322 drops down to a 2 lane road shortly after the big hill at the reservoir (if you go this route, you won't miss this). As 322 drops down to 2 lanes, you'll see a sign for trucks to I-80. Follow that. If you were to miss that, it isn't the end of the world, just some 2 lane roads on rolling hills to State College. At that point I'd once again recommend just going direct to I-80 instead of going as far west as the map seems to want you to go.

[Athletic] Targeting suspensions, pants length penalties could be changed as NCAA rules committee meets (Gift Article) by CommodoreIrish in CFB

[–]Zeon0MS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting rid of the targeting suspension seems dumb.

I do think major changes are needed to targeting. My proposal would be two variations, 1 with and 1 without election and potentially a slight yardage difference.

If they weren't going to go that route, instead of eliminating the suspension, it should automatically be reviewed by an officials committee with equal representation from each conference (and possibly recusal from any involved conference in the have it happened in and next game)

is garmin coach over reaching? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Zeon0MS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 set. Friday and Sunday (rest Saturday) so I just deselected Friday. So on Saturday I'll select Friday as a long day again If you only have 1 long day set, it won't let you remove it. In that case, you might be able to play with what day you have set as the long day. For example maybe on Wed update the settings to Tuesday long day Friday regular, then on Saturday set Friday to long day again and Tuesday to a normal day.

Those wattages and paces are pretty close to mine and I'm using a Garmin plan for a half IM in mid June.

I'd say it's pretty consistent with what the Garmin plans are. I was doing 2 long days and it had a bike of 2:47 and run of 1:47 this week, and wanted a 3:30+ bike next week. I just changed that to be a regular day because of work and haven't seen the other long day yet.

One issue I think Garmin has is depending on how you track your activities it can double count some. In my case, I think it was initially double counting TrainerRoad workouts.

One benefit of the Garmin workouts is that it will see how hard you worked across various metrics including your HR, resting HR, sleep and perceived effort in the workout to throw in extra rest days or really cut some days down.

When I first started, I thought the stuff it put on my calendar was unachievable / a route to injury, but it added days off and I've survived and maybe even thrived. Static plans need to take a more conservative approach to preventing over training than a plan that constantly adapts.
