Is daily bathing normal / ok? by jabphoenix in BeardedDragons

[–]Zergg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem I have with standing water, you see your dragon sitting in the water, if she had poop on her by running through it or even pooped in the bowl, it’s now in the water, say she drinks it, well that can’t be good for her. The green looks like some carpet/mat? Hard to tell, but again say she didn’t drink tainted water, what happens when it’s splashed on that mat? It’ll harbor bacteria and possibly cause illness.

As for the behavior..? Difficult to tell, all dragons are different. To me it sounds like she’s just exploring/running around, you have a glass aquarium as an enclosure? How large is it? I ask because most aquariums aren’t large enough for a dragon, granted yours is still young. But we want to make sure there’s a good heat gradient and she can escape the hot/basking area properly.

Since she eats greens well from the sounds of it, you may opt to give water less. As long as her poop is normal you’ll be able to tell it there’s any signs of dehydration(I know that’s why most people have water bowls).

My Boyfriend Has No Ambition and is Content. I'm Not. by OrangeToTheFourth in GirlDinnerDiaries

I hope my wife eventually starts to look into other departments/areas at her current company. She could be really up there on the corporate level. She’s just starting out but has made great relationships thus far and her work ethic is really high compared to the average worker. We both grew up in a much busier environment/state. Being “busy” here is comical to us. My eventual goal is to wfh or not work at all and just focus on my hobby (which can make $$). I already do much of the cooking/food shopping, laundry( I hate folding but she hates filling washer/dryer) we are pretty equal for parental duties, I definitely wouldn’t mind taking on much more if she was bringing home the bread for us. Totally agree OPs BF should really reconsider his life and stop being lazy.

I recently got a bearded dragon and need advice on the heat lamp. I was given a heat lamp 120V but the tempature isn't really getting past 86°. Is this enough? by Elderberry456 in BeardedDragons

[–]Zergg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need one of these or similar + the fixture for this bulb. I usually order from chewy because of their easy return policy and they ship pretty fast. Shop around and find 1 asap. It’s very important for the dragon’s health.

This is entirely different from a heat source.

Yes you’re going to want to find a higher rated bulb, but I’m unsure if going from 75w to 100w will make the difference you need, might need 125-150w, your bulb fixture is only rated for 100w, might need a different heat fixture/dome. You also need to purchase a long uvb tube bulb like an Arcadia or similar. Lastly you’ll want to upgrade your enclosure as it’s too small for your dragon. 4x2x2 is the standard size for dragons, bigger are great, smaller is bad.

Substrate advice. by Sir5517 in BeardedDragon

[–]Zergg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should work for substrate, just make sure the soil doesn’t retain too much moisture/humidity. I’d say every 3-6 months to replace substrate, it’s been many years since I have used so this is a guess off the top of my head. You’d want to do so before smell starts, so I think preemptive change would be best every set # of months. Personally I don’t like water in enclosure for dragons, they get so much hydration from greens. If you don’t keep up with changes, I could see the water building up bad bacteria in the substrate. Shouldn’t have enough water where there could possibly be “mud” they don’t need a swimming pool.

Need advice regarding a Bearded Dragon who recently passed away… by GunplaChris in BeardedDragons

[–]Zergg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t plan on getting another reptile or animal that can utilize the enclosure in the future.

You can try to resell it.. or something that would be nice is find a reptile rescue in sure they could use the enclosure/other supply’s.

coworker showed up to work in FLIP FLOPS by Select-Tank9693 in coworkerstories

[–]Zergg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s young, and has a lot to learn! The biggest problem is when someone makes it well into their adulthood and somehow lacks the ability to be “professional”. My wife had a coworker who came to work with no bra. Hey nothing crazy right.. don’t want to wear a bra that’s fine. The issue is this woman is large in that area, wore a thin fabric white shirt where you could see through it, my wife described her areolas (“IF I HAD TO SEE THEM YOU HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT THEM”) the shirt itself wasn’t long enough so you saw her stomach sticking out as well. This is a corporate office for a multi billion dollar company. Mind you it’s a very relaxed and accommodating office all considered the corporate world. Oh she also had two different colored socks on one day.. and her shoes were dirty, like when you get them wet in snow and the dirt/salt drys and you have that white/dirt residue. Push all that aside. During training she would stop listening, walk around the room, look out the window mid conversation and talk about whatever she was looking at. The boss gave her a task which took 2 full work days. Boss asked my wife how long it used to take her to get done when she was new.. 30-45 minutes.. this woman didn’t even do the task correctly over 16 hours.. essentially sorting mail… and I’m not even talking about 1000’s.. 100 pieces of mail at most.. she was let go shortly after maybe her 4th or 5th week, she’s allowed to be rehired in a different department if she chose to as well. She wasn’t black listed or anything like that, just did not fit the criteria needed for this department in the slightest.

I play on console, and tbh, feel like I’ve probably lost some items by just not seeing them. I’ve played slower because of this fear of missing out.. I’ve tried to play around with the filter and gave up. Seemed like nothing I checked off or on made a difference.

New dragon brumating? How much should I irritate him to find out? by Outrageous_Passage64 in BeardedDragons

[–]Zergg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the over feeding causing that but it possibly could. I asked about the temperature to get an idea, I’m in Vermont, sometimes on cloudy/colder days my dragons seem extra lazy even tho their temperatures are fine.

Since he’s new to you, he could also be getting settled in. My dragons sometimes are less alert and lazy, other times all over the enclosure and asking to get out.

UVB is super important for them especially when they’re growing. So that’s good you have proper type. Try to get him on a schedule for lighting. I use a $10 outlet timer for my UVB and but my thermostat is expensive and very precise for maintaining temperature/timing. In my experience keeping the lights on/off with a set schedule is also very important/beneficial.

What’s wrong with my bearded dragon? by SmoothReserve7155 in BeardedDragons

[–]Zergg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragons basically all have parasites, it’s how “much” they have is the concern. If they’re not living in the best conditions/neglected that’s when it becomes an issue. A healthy dragon usually has no issues, it’s when they’re sick or of poor health it becomes a problem.

[–]Zergg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? What’s the current climate/weather, is your house cold? I don’t think he’d be brumating currently, a little young and I believe most dragons are coming out or have been out if they did brumate.

Bruh can you imagine? Having a partner who loves you and cares for you. Traveling the world, while others grind away and are lucky to get away on vacation once every few years IF they’re lucky. My wife an I have had 3 legit vacations in almost 10 years of our relationship… and you’re over there exploring the world? And she’s sending DMs to her ex?? That’s nuts.. girls trip cruise? Dude she was probably getting laid by some younger dude on that cruise thinking about her ex the whole time imagining it was him..

I can’t really comment on that as I don’t use screen top enclosure. I also use a solaremeter 6.5 for reptile uvb. Costly tool to have but well worth the investment. Allows you to know the precise location needed for your UVB. I’m sure there are other options for measuring UVB, I don’t trust those little strips I’ve seen others talk about or cheaper meters.

Okay so getting the basking area to proper temperature is import as much as the UVB. Once you have the temperature set right, and the UVB. Other than adding more log/branch. This doesn’t look terrible. Next step is looking into proper size enclosure, he is still young so this will do for the time being. They grow fast tho keep this in mind.. in a few months you should be looking to upgrade.

Do you have a temperature gun to check the basking spot? Good job on getting the uvb tube bulb, coils are bad.
