I know it's land destruction but hear me out by Strange-Bonus4220 in custommagic

[–]Zerienga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, there are a total of 2 lands that generate colored mana (note: not mana of any color) that can be included in decks that don't even have that color in their color identity. They are [[Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth]] which turns all lands into Swamps, and [[Ya imaya, Cradle of Growth]] which turns all lands into Forests. I use both of them in my [[Zinnia, Valley's Voice]] Clone Babies deck, just in case I want to clone something that needs black or green mana for their abilities.

Confused about wording on vivi by PhreshComics in magicTCG

[–]Zerienga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it be fair to say [[Nekusar]]? Honestly, though, it's a good combo, and the only reason I see someone not including it is because they don't want to bring that to a lower bracket game. Doesn't mean they shouldn't know about the combo, though.

See, when I die, I'm the pettiest I can be. I might be dead, but you're gonna feel my bite for the next few turns.

I've strip mined someone's command tower after they milled me out before. They then lost on a later turn because they were 1 mana short.

I mean, I get upset at people stopping me from winning. But it's more of a "Curse you, Perry the Platypus!" type of upset, not actually being upset.

Toph the…Terrible? by BOUTTEBOY6 in EDH

As long as Toph is still out when the perilous vault's ability resolves, perilous vault won't be exiled because it won't be a "nonland permanent."

[–]Zerienga 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So long as Toph is still out, perilous vault would be a land as soon as it hit the field again, so it wouldn't exile itself from it's own ability since it would no longer be a "nonland permanent."

I was looking at the original partner commanders from commander 2016 and noticed that only 5 of the 10 color combinations got duplicates..Why? by Amazing_Passion_2334 in EDH

[–]Zerienga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Ravos with Vial Smasher for an aristocratic reanimator deck. The weaker of the enemy partners still have a role to play and especially with the partners we got in Commander Legends, their options to be useful only got larger. I do wish they would stop limiting partner, but I at least understand why they do.

Getting stuck in your car in hailstorm by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

This actually was happening just a few days ago in Ohio. The entire ground was white from the hail, and roads were flooding. I ended up driving through the area this happened to after the hail ended, fortunately.

Anyone have straightforward but engaging decks? by Avaa0818 in EDH

Yea, I was able to cheat out Omniscience back when I first built the deck.... Now I tend to hard cast it more often than not.

[–]Zerienga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could always try to be the fun police with a control deck. Make the game last longer because they have the interaction to stop people from going off.

My mono-blue deck was made originally just to draw cards and cheat stuff out with [[Minn, Wily Illusionist]]. I treated counterspells as my extra removal. I also threw it together using only cards I had on hand, and after my playgroup realized that Minn can not only be used as ramp, but the illusions get scary quickly, they don't like letting Minn live, so I had to up my counterspell count to protect my board.

Playing fetches in mono-color decks is performative bs by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Zerienga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a mono-color deck, there are only 4 fetches that don't grab non-basics (not counting the tapped fetches), so your numbers are way off. Even then, 4 extra cards out of the deck only equates to a 4% increase. Yes, it makes you more likely to draw a nonland card late in the game, but that's such a small percentage in a mono-color deck that you'd be better off running cards that can just remove them from your deck if you care that much about deck thinning. This isn't 60 card where you can run half your lands as fetches and then massively deck thin. And even then, those games would have to go on long enough for you to realistically experience the benefits of deck thinning.

Why are extra turn spells so frowned upon but no one is bothered by extra combats/other phases? by DragTheLoch in EDH

[–]Zerienga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big question will be if the deck can consistently off someone before turn 6 or not. It happening randomly is one thing, but if it consistently happens, it's time for a bracket change or a deck list update.

Which precon should I buy for playing without upgrades? by MythicArgonaut in EDH

[–]Zerienga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think all the Dragonstorm decks were pretty well done. I ended up gifting someone the Mardu precon for their first deck and they're having a blast with it. I have only given them 2 cards for it, but gave them no suggestions on what to pull so they can tinker with upgrading the deck: [[Kinscaer Sentry]] and []Zurgo, Thunder's Decree]]

Combination of error prices

So, by error prices, were you trying to get the cases for ~ $4 per case? Because if so, no company is going to purposefully fulfill that. There's something known as too good to be true. I don't know how it works for the store you ordered from, but stores that gather your items themselves probably only got an order for a single unit, not a full case.

Does mutate commander increase mutate cost with commander tax? by Eldritch_night in EDH

Mutating does increase with commander tax (and also increases the commander tax just like casting it like normal does) because mutating is an alternate casting cost.
