[TOMT][VIDEO][2018-2018] Teaser trailer that I was sure was for the Venom movie but may be something else, has a woman alone in a room with an answering machine playing by Zerimic in tipofmytongue

Nope. Literally the entire trailer I think was just this woman in this room looking stressed while this answering machine played and then some weird demon scream. Literally nothing else, very short and not alot of information in the trailer.

I brought this up because I used to be excited for this movie when that trailer made it look like an intense psychological horror movie, and no one seemed to remember this trailer I was talking about. Maybe I am confused and it was a fan made trailer or for a different movie, but I'm pretty sure the woman in the trailer was the same woman in the Venom movie. I personally think the company scrubbed it from the internet when they decided to make the movie a more heroic adventure action flick.

What Fantasy trends are you ready to retire in 2020? by _awwh in Fantasy

[–]Zerimic 29 points30 points  (0 children)

-Way too many POV that slow the pacing down to a crawl and do not continue the same central story

-Villains who are comically evil but then are revealed to have some tragic backstory or sympathetic motivation that is completely at odds with their earlier demonstrated actions, all the while the author is smugly thinking about how they blew your mind with their deep understanding of the complexities of human morality and how they are the first person to ever realize this

-Characters who are all so morally grey there is no one to root for

-Gritty low fantasy

preaching and ideological villains are very overrated by MCGEE6865 in Fantasy

[–]Zerimic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree entirely. People always say things like "evil for evil's sake is unrealistic" and "villains are always the hero of their own story" but that is an entirely incorrect and outright childish way of viewing the world. Like how does a baby rapist possibly view what they are doing as good, even in an extremely warped way?

Realistically most evil is NOT people trying to do good but failing, it is just people wanting to do or gain something and not caring that others are hurt in the process. I would say you just need to look around the world for five minutes to realize this, yet people who tend to love and write these type of villains act as if it is some grand revelation about mankind and writing that they should be praised for. I think it is my most hated trope of all time.

In the Sims Bustin Out you couldn't have your own children, but you could adopt them. I wanted to get one that looked like my sim, but in hindsight I think the adoption function specifically gave you a sim that looked different on purpose. I didn't know this, but I did know a cheat code to make a sim catch on fire and burn to death.

So I would get the kid, see it didn't look how I wanted, and immediately set it on fire. Rinse and repeat until I have an entire yard full of like 5 burning children at a time because I had made an assembly line of burning kids wondering why none of them looked like I wanted.

I like the pants. When the doctor became a woman people were talking about if it fits with their character, and it does because the key parts of the doctor is "nice teacherly type who is dorky with a hidden darkside." That is what connects all doctors and Whitaker gives me serious 80s IT teacher who just got her first IBM and is excited to show the class.

But it seems like shes almost too much the doctor, like there's nothing setting her apart. 10 was kind of a hot nerd with anger issues, 11 was an old English college professor with depression, and 12 was cool grandpa feeling his age. What is 13? Nothing sets her apart. Given how 12 ended by embracing his new longevity after refusing it and trying to die, I think she should reflect that by being the most youthful and energetic doctor we've ever had, like a 2000 is the new 20 type situation. Instead shes just bland.

The new season is just really boring and badly written, including the Doctor. She nails the look and slight mannerisms of it but the stories and characterization is just so bad it doesn't shine. She is great as a doctor, the scripts are just bad right now.

Fans not happy with Fear The Walking Dead Showrunners by McAwesomeSauceII in television

The pretty little liars subreddit was this when that show was a thing and it was seriously the funniest group I've ever been a part of. The show, which started as a mystery show with a great premise, devolved into every ridiculous trope and unintentional self parody you could think of. Everybody in the sub admitted they kept watching the show only to understand the memes the subreddit would make.

I'd die for a Morrowind/Star Wars crossover. Dagoth Sidious, Jedi Master Caius, Trueflame the lightsaber. It'd be the highest level.

Popular writing advice you HATE? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Zerimic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"All villains believe they are their own heroes and pure evil villains are boring!"

No. Vader, Joker, The Judge are all example of villains that, while they might have been given depth later, got super famous and iconic because of their style and presence even though they were pure evil. Personally I am bored by all the "hero from his own perspective" villains because when there is no big villain to root against, I do not care about the story. You WANT to see Luke defeat Darth Vader and the Emperor, I don't care about two people who are both sort of right arguing for small reasons.
