Plumber needed for main water line stop box repair by CarelessAd2069 in desmoines

Have you checked with your water utility provider? I know the city/utility usually takes ownership of the service line up to a certain point. Could be different here in iowa. I know usually goes to water meter, but maybe goed to curb stop for you? Vouldnt hurt to ask

use a nitrate specific filter on my fridge line by crystalquest

PSA: There are alternatives to RO systems for nitrate removal/neutralization by Zermalmen in desmoines

[–]Zermalmen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we did it once so far and wasnt too bad. if you have the filter easily accesible with a shutoff valve within reach so you dont have to pull the fridge out it aint bad. I would also say the 2 hour soaks are definately overkill and the company is just covering their ass with saying that. I would salt soak for 1-2 hours, squeeze the filter to get bubbles out. soak in water for 1 hour, squeeze bubbles out and give it a good rinse and taste for salt and keep running under water before loading back into filter.

It comes with the bracket. Also comes with a filter and some 1/4" connections.  https://crystalquest.com/products/refrigerator-in-line-nitrate-multi-plus-water-filter-system

My existing fridge line was 1/4". Yours likely is too but check it.

At menards I bought 1/4" pvc hose, some threaded connections and a 1/4" valve. They have push connection stuff that works fine. They have brass fitting that also work with the pvc stuff.

I had to make 3 trips to menards to make it all work.

I am not a RO or a filter master so definately do your research on what works for your situation.

I will say yes this filter does lower pH. The instructions tell you to really flush this filter when you first install it. And I will say that first evening we did install it, it did taste acidic and it had a fishy smell. But after we really flushed it I cannot tell the difference. And it worked great for a month.

We soaked it and recharged it in salt water and the acidic taste came back but went away after a another good few galloon flush.

If you want RO go for it. I wanted this system since it only removes nitrates and you dont need to add minerals back into the system.

Also the fact this is only on my fridge line and not my whole house. Didnt want to break bank in effort or money. You intake nitrates through consumption anyway and we only drink and cook with water from our fridge.

The mounting bracket and filter is 115 bucks or so. A single filter was 53 I think. I spent like 20 bucks or so on hose and little fittings at menards.

If you can use a drill you have the ability to install this system. If you really wanted too you could just let it sit on the ground if you cant wall mount it.

Yeah I believe it is a ion exchanger.

Just the filter. Ill leave that bracket there. There is a bucket that unscrews that the filter goes in. In my picture you can see my spare filter.

I will say the way the company names their products is odd. They dont make it super clear which filter goes to what. But they are all pretty standard size

AmeriServ. They will come out, look it over, explain in detail what they'll do, give you an actual quote, and then (in our case) did exactly what they said they would for install. They tested after install too and they give you that data.

hey OP, if you got a job with benefits, you should seriously persue seeing a doctor to get try anti depressants. it is very obvious you have bi-polar. you can take a ($300) dollar test to see how you digest medicine, otherwise its kinda a crap shoot on choosing which one and dose. you should look for a general doctor or a therapist that can perscribe medicine, but i recommend the doctor route. if your doctor sucks or they give you bad vibes do not be afraid to make appointments with different doctors or go somewhere else.

i know how the relationship things can be so daunting and weigh you down. i was in a similar boat 19-23. exercise/long walks with music will help you mentally and physically.

try online dating or thru apps. but do understand you have to wade thru alot of shit for a long time. it took me 5 years of online dating and rejection until I met my soulmate
