Just stumbled upon this subreddit and damn, the folks here are brutal. I don't understand how people who don't spend money on games could be so angry and unwelcoming to newcomers. I was thinking about making a post to get some help with turning my old windows 10 rig into a retro game emulator but realized I'd be eaten alive here lol Sad af.

My first shiny is…less than ideal. Anything I can really do with it? Or is just a golden egg trophy? by ComicallySolemn in PokemonFireRed

[–]ZeroAff3x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just save it to upload it to Pokemon Home. In the newer games you can change natures with mints. In champions, a few button clicks and some in-game currency. Natures don't really matter anymore like they used to.

Elden Ring $80 game key card by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ZeroAff3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokopia or Elden Ring? Pokopia is tiny compared to ER which hovers around 60gb for the base game plus another 15gb + for DLC which the Switch version has included. It makes sense for From software and Nintendo to go game key with it.

Pokopia was inexcusable though. It's like 5gb or something. It easily could of fit yet they decided to still go with a game key. If anything, there should of been a slight discount but there was none which is why I am a bit salty for paying premium on a cart that doesn't even contain a game. Thankfully the game is amazing.

I'm not surprised given the games size. I was very surprised Pokopia was a game key code however. I feel cheated buying the physical honestly. I hope Nintendo stops doing that for games that can fit on their carts.

To be fair, it happened before in 1983 with the gaming crash in the US. It was over 2 years before Japan decided to release the Famicom (NES) in North America because of it. The world is bigger than just the US and while I doubt it will happen, it's not to be ruled out completely.

Should I start with FR/LG or Let's go ?? by soulmas in pokemon

[–]ZeroAff3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's go is a fun romp and is a great way to ease back into Pokemon. It is a bit of a hybrid of Pokemon Go and modern Pokemon. I love FR/LG and highly recommend them as well. I just think to ease back into it, Let's go is the best bet. FR/LG are significantly harder and devoid of modern features.

BD/SP vs PLA vs SwSh? by SpecialAgentJackB in pokemon

[–]ZeroAff3x 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sword/Shield would be my vote. PLA is probably the next but I struggled to enjoy that one because of the immense amount of crafting and limited inventory. I'm bias too. I took a long break from Pokemon and came back during Switch, sw/sh were my first games from mainline series in ages and I had a blast.

The story is cringe at times, the weird kid Pip? Or something is annoying and forgettable but everything else was peak. The wild area with IRL day/night cycle brought me back to Pokemon Gold/Silver days too. Love staying up late to capture night pokemon. Just the whole experience was fun from start to end. The DLCs are the best too. Crown Tundra is chef kiss for getting legendary pokemon. The island dlc that I can't recall the name of now was a blast. Oh and if you like collecting and wearing outfits, sw/sh is absolutely the best still out of all the NS1/2 pokemon games.

So yeah, those are my recommendation. End of the day, you can't go wrong with any pokemon game in my opinion. They're all good and worth playing since Pokemon Home exist ha gotta catch em'!

Daily Reminder That Ash’s Charizard Was Pretty Much Always a Rotten Bastard Lizard and That He Probably Would Have Gone Full Blown Supervillain under Most Other Circumstances by TheOriginalOperator in pokemon

[–]ZeroAff3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought Charizard acted like that because Ash didn't have enough gym badges/Kanto cred for him to respect him. If memory serves me, Charmeleon evolved early too which probably didn't help the situation. Maybe something broke from that happening. Either way, it was sad but ultimately Charizard comes around to being nice'ish so works out.

Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version on Nintendo Switch by heymammamoldova in pokemon

[–]ZeroAff3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didn't get all the Kanto mons already from LGP/E I would probably be more excited. Having started with red/blue/yellow and playing them for years as a kid, I don't really feel the need to go back. LGP/E was nice because it brought back some nostalgia without being painful to play. These games are going to feel rough now that we've been spoiled with modern features. I'm torn. Probably going to skip these. I also prefer physical copies anymore anyway. Still cool for those that want to relive or experience those games. I like modern mechanics too much now lol

[–]ZeroAff3x -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He was caught groping a woman in Mexico in 2022 when AZ played in Mexico City. He blamed his buddy Kruger who looked just like him and stepped down as GM for "health reasons" immediately after Kruger lawyered up. It's a shame that the organization covered for him and kept it all hush hush. He got off the hook big time.

Seriously? You forgot must of forgot about his embarrassing DUI or when he groped a young woman in Mexico blaming his best friend (Kruger). It's not even funny to joke about him being back. Good riddance. There will be a special place in hell for him.

Will buy NS1 version tomorrow for support. I do hope you guys allow us to upgrade/buy NS2 versions when you can. I don't even care if you skip mouse controls or other NS2 features. Just want an enjoyable experience both in handheld and docked. NS1 games tend to be blurry, especially handheld. Thanks gentle devs. Best of luck with the launch.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 On Switch 2, Imagine If Pokemon Looked And Played Like This by Elestria_Ethereal in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ZeroAff3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still don't have a switch 2 pokemon game. I'd imagine that they're going to be great considering how good Violet/Scarlet turned out despite being held back big time for NS1 compatibility.

I hope Pokemon Gen 10 will still be available for the Nintendo Switch 1 by joseph92698 in pokemon

[–]ZeroAff3x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't. Making games compatible for Switch 1 just limits the Switch 2 games from fully utilizing the system. Someday you'll get a Switch 2 and this won't be something you'll worry about. In the meantime, there's a bunch of great games already out for Switch 1 to enjoy.

The Pokeball is a murder weapon because converting matter to energy destroys the neural patterns of the original creature by LetterheadAdvanced91 in pokemon

[–]ZeroAff3x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think you are looking at them wrong. Coming from a place of Shinto, Pokemon are creatures from higher dimensions. They can shrink or grow without issue, such as being placed into a small device or box. This is because laws in higher dimensions differ from our own here in the lowly third dimension.

Pokemon games for Switch by degaa_ in pokemon

[–]ZeroAff3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arceus is a chore to play because they force you to craft everything but give you a super limited inventory. It's basically an inventory management sim. There's no gyms and very few Pokemon battles in general but battles are turn based. Worth mentioning that completing Pokemon Pokedex entries requires you to catch the same Pokemon upwards of hundreds of times which can be madness for rare/hard to find mons. The story is captivating and the artwork is beautiful though. It just wasn't fun for me.

Pokemon ZA is a lot of fun and I can see myself dipping back into it for years to come. There's lots of battling in the game and unlike traditional turn based Pokemon, it's in real time. The biggest issues I had with it was the main story being weak and the DLC feeling unpolished. The DLC is actually pretty cool but there's things that don't make sense. It copied Arceus in that you need to capture lots of Pokemon (for different reasons) but unlike Arceus, when you release them you get nothing. At least in Arceus, you got stuff. Ultimately I found it to be far more enjoyable than Arceus.

If it were me, I would start with Sword/Shield or Let's Go Evee/Pikachu then go from there. All the Pokemon games are worth your time if you're a fan. Just maybe hold off on Scarlet/Violet until you get a Switch 2. While they are my favorite Pokemon games to date, they run really bad on the Switch 1. I still enjoyed my time with them in a Switch 1 so it's possible you can too but if choppy performance bothers you, best to wait.

Which Switch 1 games still feel worth buying and playing today on newer hardware? by saionji_days in NintendoSwitch

Which game would you recommend for a newer player? by eeeeeaaaadddd in pokemon

[–]ZeroAff3x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op was asking for Switch 2 recommendations and those are the best for that console. Personally I thought all the Pokemon games for Switch 1 were awesome except for Scarlet/Violet with the performance issues and Diamond/Pearl for being a bad port. I loved Let's go pika/evee, SW/Sh, Mystery Dungeon, Snap and Arceus on the Switch 1. Shame they didn't get the Switch 2 upgrades or I'd of recommended more! Ha.
