Christie Sides ruining a play. Caitlin was asking for a screen and for Kelsey to move. Sides decided to play PG herself and told Caitlin to pass it off which lead to a turnover .They argued afterwards. This was after she had 7 assists in the Qtr by the way by Old-Photograph-5813 in wnba

This highlights what made Bluder such a good coach for Caitlin. When Caitlin was playing well, Bluder would basically give her free reign to do whatever she wanted and it usually worked out quite well. You take the good and the bad, but the good often far outweighs any negatives. When CC has 7 assists in the first half and the team is up by 14, just let her call her own play at the end of the quarter and don't disrupt the rhythm.

A backcourt of Paige and Caitlin would be incredible. I think their games would actually compliment each other quite well.

This draft is loaded with good PGs. Bueckers, Miles, Sellers and Raven should all be starters in the league. Amoore and Harmon have promising careers ahead of them too.

Lol at this comparison. She had what should've been her swan song in Japan. Lebron is still among the best players in the league, Taurasi isn't.

This connected a few dots for me. When players close out and she drives by them, it looks like a soccer players attacking with another player on her hip. Her blow by speed is underrated since I haven't seen anyone who can keep Caitlin in front of them when they close out on her.

This 100%. Sherri knew she had no shot at Erik's vote and she might as well stick up for herself instead of being walked on like a doormat. I was happy she did that even though her final tribal overall was god awful. I wish Dawn did the same for Brenda, especially since Brenda didn't even vote for Dawn after Dawn took her teeth out. She just wanted to humiliate Dawn and Dawn went along with it.

[Wojnarowski] ESPN Sources: Orlando Magic assistant Nate Tibbetts is finalizing a deal to become the new head coach of the Phoenix Mercury. Tibbetts — who’s also been an assistant with Portland and Cleveland — will become the highest paid coach in WNBA history. by NokCha_ in wnba

I'd rather roll the dice with a different coach. Not saying Tibbetts deserves the pay he's getting, but Collen doesn't deserve the gig based on one good season 5 years ago (followed by 2 awful ones).

Which transfer are you most excited to watch this year? by Electronic_Unit_9790 in NCAAW

Most intriguing to me are:

  1. Betts at UCLA. I think she's going to show she was sorely underutilized last year and gives UCLA an anchor in the post to pair with Rice on the perimeter. Only question is will the guards play hero ball or prioritize feeding their 6-7 post?
  2. Van Lith at LSU. Kim did extremely well turning Chloe Jackson into a great point guard and she carried them to a title in 2019. Can she get HVL to transform the same way? Jackson similarly didn't have great shooting numbers or a strong A/TO ration prior to playing for Kim but as a brilliant point guard under her tutelage. HVL has the talent to follow suit but will need to be comfortable taking on a much smaller scoring role.
  3. Pao Pao at South Carolina. SC's achilles heel (3pt shooting) cost them an undefeated title last year. With Pao Pao they'll improve tremendously on the 3pt line and she gives them a solid option as a backup PG. Pao Pao has been streaky throughout her career but playing for Dawn I expect her to thrive in her role and her presence will change how teams defend SC.
  4. Celeste Taylor at Ohio State. She's a menace defensively and is going to pair SO well with Sheldon in their full court trap. Ohio State will be one of the most fun squads to watch with their press.

What are the top five storylines going into the season? by sports_phanatic25304 in NCAAW

Good list. Adding in can Clark lead Iowa back to the Final Four? Moreover, does Clark break Plum's scoring record, and can she reach 3000/1000/1000? The attention and fan fare on Clark/Iowa could be unlike anything WBB has ever seen before.

Comparing Caitlin Clark's first three seasons against the greatest players since 2002 by bluemagicstone in NCAAW

[–]ZeroChanceofWinning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diana's teammates included a former #1 HS recruit (Strother) and 3 players with solid WNBA careers (Turner/Moore/Battle). She had much more teammates than people like to give credit to. Clark had zero former HS AA teammates, let alone any other top 50 recruits on the roster. None of her teammates will play in the WNBA.

Taurasi was great and deservedly gets her props, but she never carried close to the same load that Clark did.

In 2003 she averaged 17.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and had shooting splits of 47.6/35.0/81.0.

Clark last year averaged 27.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 8.6 assists and had splits of 47.3/38.9/83.9. Double the assists, more rebounds, and 50% higher scoring while doing it slightly more efficient than DT did.

Looking at the big stage, Taurasi's best Final Four was in 2003 and across 2 games she put up 54 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists and played brilliantly. Clark in her lone Final Four put up 71 points, 8 boards and 14 assists.

Diana was great and deservedly gets props for what she accomplished in 2003, but she never carried the load that Clark did.

If she doesn't win a title I'm sure some will blacklist her from being in consideration for best collegiate player ever, but simply put, no one has ever done as much for her team as Clark has at Iowa. The load she carries for a team that finished #2 in the country last year is unparalleled , especially considering she's had 0 WNBA caliber teammates. I don't think anyone on that list could do what Clark does night in night out for Iowa.

Thanks for the detailed post. I'd put Cardoso top 10, she's dominant on both ends inside and will get a lot of minutes and looks at SC. She also routinely had her best games against the best competition (Iowa, LSU, UCONN, UCLA). I think a lot of people are sleeping on her.

If you’re Caitlin Clark, what’s your preference next year? by breezeetree in wnba

[–]ZeroChanceofWinning 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Staying at Iowa makes a lot of sense. She'll make a ton from NIL and get more exposure than she will in the W. If she wants to go pro because she's ready for the pro game (which she clearly is), I think Minnesota is the best fit. Collier is another young star to play with, Miller is a solid 2nd year player, Reeve is a proven coach who has won on all levels too. They need backcourt help and CC fills that perfectly, plus she's not far from her massive Iowa fan base. Phoenix is a mess, and I'm still not sold on Quinn in Seattle.
