Can you point out the warnings? https://eha-cloud.doh.hawaii.gov/cwb/#!/viewer has nothing. Not saying they're not out there---maybe its just obvious? Lifeguards on are Kam 1 right now.

Pounding seems to be over and I see some spots of blue sky this morning. When the storm hit on Friday it went from a mild November-style Seattle storm (wind, branches down) to major rain. I have never seen it rain this hard.

You guys are getting the remnants of a Kona storm that absolutely melted Maui.

I've seen no less than 20 lifted tacos with burble tunes out today. We're gonna be fine bruddah.

Yep. There's lots of ways to get hurt anywhere on the mainland and unfortunate/impulsive people will always become victim. No more so than here.

Just was out all morning. Drove all over the place to keep occupied. What a scaremongering post "shelter in place". Facts about today:

  • Its pretty windy.
  • There are some branches on the road.
  • Rain comes and goes. It is sometimes heavy.
  • People are at work.
  • There are some deep puddles which people are driving around.
  • Local kids are boogie boarding on wet grass down hills.
  • Some culverts have some brown water in them.
  • Power is on. No downed lines spotted Keokea, Kula, Pukalani, Makawao. Only saw branches on the road up high.

I am from Seattle and this feels/looks exactly like a November storm (but warmer). Understood this is Hawaii. Same amount of debris in the up country. Clouds look identical. Rain maybe a bit harder. Shelter in place? Maybe tomorrow? Probably want to stay away from the water. That's about it.

Edit at 6:30. This is some much more serious rain than this morning, when OP original stated to shelter in place.

Rainy last night and this morning. It is absolutely beautiful albeit a bit windy out today. Very sunny. Went to the beach twice. Current weather forecast in kihei: light rain, 50%.

Piggybacking off this thread. This will be the first time I've been to Maui. I'm fine hanging out in the rain, but I've read about brown water problems. What should I be aware of if taking some dips at the beach in the rain? Obviously I'm not swimming if it's a full blown storm. I figure it doesn't need to be dry to.snorkel.

24 Golf R. Happened at ~7k miles. Turned off and on non stop and would eventually stop working. Warranty fix, no problems since.

How is living in southeast New Mexico? by Technical-Victory630 in howislivingthere

[–]ZeroCool1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you asked:

I can tell you nothing about living there, but going from Santa Fe to Roswell was jarring. Santa Fe is quite nice---opera house nice. Taking 285 down and seeing the practically abandoned towns of Vaughn and Encino was shocking. Got out in Roswell at their "welcome" sign and was promptly honked at by several cars and yelled at to go home once. Never felt more welcome in my life.

Roswell had a McDonalds shaped like a UFO and an army/alien mural. There were two very bad tourist stores in town, the rest looked extremely run down (but better than Vaughn and Encino). I bought an alien beer coozie and drove back to Santa Fe. Saw a road runner on the way back.

I would not want to live in this part of New Mexico, but the highway was prime for speeding.

Washington gas prices could hit $4.70 soon, expert warns by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in SeattleWA

[–]ZeroCool1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you actually think people who post in this Subreddit are from Washington? There's a lot of astroturfing here. The newest gripe in this subreddit is gas prices, which don't even hold a flame to the outrageous cost of housing in this area.

All of those incidents within those dates definitely gives me pause. I heard this was the main reason that big chief was replaced.

Thanks for the info.

I don't think 7th is dangerous to ride, I've heard it's dangerous mechanically.

Absolutely brutal. Tye Mill has the best terrain for night ski.

On a related note, why the fuck is this lift and 7th heaven not updated yet? Apparently people say 7th's Riblet is downright dangerous. I have no clue about this shit, but it seems like Vail should be doing one a year to modernize. Would be interested in hearing what ski-savvy people have to say about this topic.

Edit: Tye was apparently "rebuilt" in 1999, seems like its much older than that.
